    This weekend I found a 237 in a cabinet. I wasn't looking for another sewing machine, but I wanted the cabinet. I have changed my mind and keeping the 237 in the cabinet I purchased it in. Thanks for the video.

      I hope, that you will look the other videos, that I made about it. With a few modifications, the machine is able to sew quite heavy thread and fabrics. But you cannot adjust timing of feed, and there becomes a limit the thickness of dense fabric, you can sew, to about 6 mm.

    Useful/constructive video Sir! However, the video that you recommend to watch is not from an indian people but by an Indonesian! the language is Bahasa Indonesia and the person providing this video is a javanese man! Thanks you...Best Regards...

      Thank you for your correction! I searched CZcams and found these three videos that in my opinion in the best way explained how to service this shuttle hook housing even though I could not understand the language. When I look again, the second video is by Maulid Dzuhri and this video is from Indonesia. The two others linked videos are by Self Repair. Can you tell me that these two videos are Indonesian too?

    Thank you for the great sewing machine information you provide for us! I have a 237 myself and will check this out, since I have definitely had trouble sewing thick materials. Incidentally, you may not be interested, but if you are, the word "sew" in American English is pronounced exactly as "so," despite the spelling difference!

    great video. i would like to know sharp the hook must be. i think mine was dropped

    • @sewingmachinesindetail

      Do you mean the sharpness of the point of the hook? I do not think, that the point needs to be that sharp. But it is important, that it is smooth. I guess that the radius of the point seen from vertical down should be less than 0.05 mm.

      @sewingmachinesindetail  Před 4 lety

      I know, that the shuttle hooks can be different in many ways for different types of sewing machines. So you need the right type for your machine. It do not mean, that it needs to be an original brand shuttle hook. You got lots of suppliers of these shuttle hooks.

    Will sand paper work to smooth these edges? I do not have a drill. I do have a dremel though.

    • @sewingmachinesindetail
      @sewingmachinesindetail  Před 3 lety

      I used narrow stips of strong sand paper. The sand paper was made for an eccentric sander. I guess you would like to use a grit of about 200 first and then about grit 2000 to polish surface. I also used cord soaked in scouring cream to polish.

      I found the english name of another kind of strong sandpaper. It is called emery cloth, and it should be the best to use.

    Heya
    Are you on Facebook ? My pfaff 30 is causing me a lot of upset.
    My thread is being cut within the hook area and the thread is twisting causing a knot above the needle eye
    It’s a pfaff 30
    Please help

    • @sewingmachinesindetail
      @sewingmachinesindetail  Před 2 lety

      Yes I am. And I think we found what to look for now. I have not been able to find a service manual for the Pfaff 30. So I have used the service manual for the Singer 15 to check timing.

    • @sewingmachinesindetail
      @sewingmachinesindetail  Před 2 lety

      The machining of the shuttle hook of my Pfaff 30 is very well made and the best of the 5 different CB shuttle hooks I have studied. The thread U-turn is smooth and very well made. So if you got the original shuttle hook in your Pfaff 30, I do not think the issue of this video apply to your machine.
