  • This is a quick video on adding AUX input to late 90's and early 00's radios. In this case I'm using an RB1 I'm installing into my 2005 PT Cruiser GT.
    The quick research I did mentioned that radio must have a CD player and have a "mode" function on the front of the radio for this device to work.
    Parts used:
    HOTSYSTEM Car Aux-in Adapter MP3 Player Radio Interface for Chrysler Jeep Dodge
    Philmore 3.5mm 4-Conductor Panel Mount Jack with Nickel Plated Metal Housing : 45-396
    Hook and Loop tape

      Yellow wire goes to switched power I believe. Pretty sure it's a 12v for the amp.

      I think the LX cars use a totally different style of radio.

      Hey Rich, I think the manufacturer may have stopped building them. I've had a hard time sourcing them as well.

    Beware using those radio interfaces. They operate through the vehicle's pci. They cause some people problems.

    What radio did u upgrade to?

    • @NecromancerGarage
      @NecromancerGarage  Před 2 lety

      RB1 radio. It was an option for a while on the early 2000 Dodges. You can find them at the junkyard (usually in Caravans) here and there, but they are getting pretty rare. If you can find one for about $100, that's a good deal. Anything above that you might as well get Chinese Android plug and play radio that fits in these cars.

      Unfortunately I don't think the Aux-to-Radio interface is available any more. I have the name of the parts in the description, maybe you'll have better luck finding luck finding them.

    What is needed to upgrade to that radio?

      The RB1 radio is factory radio. Just pull out the old radio and pop in the RB1.
