It’s kinda odd that the two position switches on this radio flip side ways ! It should flip up and down, not side to side in my opinion. I think just turning the switches inside should fix that. Cheers and keep the air turbulent as always. Thanks for the video and the valuable review Mr. Nick.

I want to like it for the full size gimbals and being the second small radio to support the actual Lora frequencies too, but it looks so cheaply made, can't justify the price at all. Fortunately I don't have to either, I already have more radios than I can fly. Market is getting saturated now, they really have to come up with something original or at least beat the others with the price for the stuff to fly out the door.

I would like to buy a second radio to carry in my backpack in the mountains, which is more practical and easy to handle. between the Jumper T20 and the Jumper T-Pro V2, which of the two radios could you honestly recommend? I would like to use it for both drones and airplanes in mode1 and also for long range and I also wanted to ask you if it is possible to load the OpenTx firmware on the T20? Thank you.

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  Před 7 měsíci

I would expect OpenTX is compatible with both radios, I am not sure what feature OpenTX offers that EdgeTX doesn't. I think features is the primary reason fpv radio manufacturers moved to EdgeTX is how slow OpenTX moved. The T20 is a sizeable radio and based on that i think for something to be in a backpack the t-pro v2 is a better choice. With Expresslrs the control link is so good its hard for me to identify a strong use case requiring Gemini

Many are mistaken in thinking that potentiometers are worse than hall pickups! Potentiometers are just the opposite more accurate than Hall sensors. In terms of durability, I personally know people who have old Futaba transmitters that are about 10 years old and have gone through thousands of hours in the simulator.
I have a 16IZ Futaba and it has 1200hrs of total run time, the potentiometers function perfectly and the zero position never shakes unlike my 2 radiomaster boxer and tx16 mk2....

Your experience says pots are better. My experience says the exact opposite - twice. I had a Jumper T8SG that had terrible pots - they developed serious signal noise after only a few months of use. Same went for the pots in my current daily driver, a Radiomaster TX12. Once I installed Hall sensor-equipped AG01 Mini gimbals in the TX12, I got superior accuracy and zero signal noise. I don't doubt the durability report on the pots in your Futaba radio, but when it comes to Jumper and Radiomaster radios, it would be better to install Hall sensor gimbals in them if they don't come stock.

17:25 - there must be something wrong:
#1 T20 has Hall sensors from the factory and it is cheaper than the
#2 T20S has RDC90 sensors with potentiometers and these are more expensive.
Attention: for whatever reason now the hall gimbal sensors are priced cheaper - quite the opposite how they had marketed the hall gimbal sensors on the T16S radio
The T20 and T20S have only different gimbals (also looking different and I guess also adjusted differently) and there seems to be no marking on the outside if you have a T20S
But your review is a T20S review, not the T20 so you might better change the title soon cause people might buy the wrong radio with the hall sensors while you were talking about the T20S with RDC90 potentiometer .
Range tests are possible, just on the ground with goggles and camera. You drive away with the bike or car and watch how long the signals will cause a reaction on the rudder or flaps.
Have seen some but you need a good spot maybe on the top of the roof to have line of sight for quite a long distance.

They have a hall sensor version. I mis spoke, the tray is for 21700.

They are designed for 21700. And fyi those pots are ALPS pots used in Futabas. Not a single Hall sensor is better than those ALPS pots mate. Hence the steep 30$ price difference.

The cell holder does accommodate the 18650 batteries, which came with my Jumper T16

@@ViralFailsCN Nobody is gonna notice the difference in precision between hall and Pots. But hall sensor will be more durable than pots, even alps is no match for hall. Again probably doesn't matter at all and just marketing gimmick.

@@yoyomin you cannot ever make advantage of neither hall or pot durability, as both hall is rated for several thousand hours and ALPS pot is rated for 10 mil cycles. Durability of Hall is a marketings gimmick, not the other way around. It fooled people into believing that somehow pots will go bad after some time. In reality, it probably wont go bad in your whole lifetime, granted you fly every day like a mad man.

Good concept but poor execution, typical Jumper.

I saw a review of these gimbals. czcams.com/video/o6UbZCKswQA/video.html
The form factor is really good, a lot of switches. But gimbals, I don't know how good they are.

trim seems like an after thought. would be a pain in the ass to trim the way they are setup. and click that don't do anything? what a waste. radio looks cool but not for me as a wing guy.

Look at the size of the screen. It's targeted at quad pilots.

I believe for us FPV pilots penetration testing is lot more useful than range testing.
It’s kinda odd that the two position switches on this radio flip side ways ! It should flip up and down, not side to side in my opinion. I think just turning the switches inside should fix that. Cheers and keep the air turbulent as always. Thanks for the video and the valuable review Mr. Nick.
