Blue background looks great. I always thought that the green background looked like a green screen. And plus it matches the Fwoosh, since the picture behind the logo is blue!

I love the blue background! Looks a lot nicer, the figure looks really nice and I do agree that a Stormtrooper belt and E-11 blaster rifle would have been nice, I could understand it costing a little more. But they should have included the microbinoculars like they did with the Black Series. Speaking of which, the Black Series one isn't a bad figure either, the sculpt is there, it's just hard to see with the glossy plastic, plus, for a 20 dollar figure it's not going to be as jam packed with stuff like Figuarts since they cost between 40-80 and Black Series is just 20. Oh and do you think they'll do the swap out faces the exact same way with Suicide Squad Harley Quinn as they did with Luke? And also, who are you the most excited for in Suicide Squad? For me it's Harley Quinn.

I don't think I have the bank to start moving from Black Series over to Figuarts, as my bread and butter Star Wars figures... But, I'll admit, between this New Hope Luke, and your recently reviewed TLJ Luke, I'm beginning to be won over -- at least by those two, where the likenesses are concerned. As well as the New Hope R2-D2, which I picked up after watching your review of it, as it is perfectly in scale with the Black Series. But, the two aforementioned Lukes, they're the best likenesses I've seen Figuarts pulling off, thus far. Whereas most of 'em just leave something to be desired, for me.

He smiled when Obi-Wan told him he was a good pilot like his father. Also at the end when he got his medal. But, I think it's based off the promo pic where he looks just like that. Great vid! I've got mine on its way right now.
I think I remember the promo pic, where Hamill is just doing a lot of poses. And now that I've went back and watched that scene at the end, he's a grinning fool through the whole ceremony! How did I not remember that? Plus that now makes me want a costume of that scene. Thanks!

I got scared when I saw the thumbnail. I noticed the blue background and thought it wasn't going to be the regular guy (Robo I think is his name)! Glad I was wrong. Great review as always, and I like the new background.

While I am extremely happy with the figure, I do agree that he should've come with different accessories. I would've taken an alternate Stormtrooper belt and blaster setup than the training ball and helmet. And I really wish they'd chosen a different set of expressions. He was often shown as having his mouth slightly open (see the shot of him staring at the twin suns), so I would've preferred that to the standard bored looking face. And I would've loved a yelling expression (calling out to Han or Obi-Wan) over the smile. Still, a terrific figure, and I'm now dying for a Han & Chewie. Their December slot is still open, I believe, so there is hope, but like you mentioned, probably some Rogue One figures coming, which would still be pretty awesome.
Yeah, I'm good with Rogue One figures, and if it follows last year's pattern, December will be new movie stuff. But someone reminded me of even more accessories that could have/should have come with Luke. The poncho, bucket hat, and binoculars from the cut scenes. That would have been just as good as the Stormtrooper gear.

Yeah, Bandai has been slow to solicit that Han and Chewie. I have a feeling it won't be until next year at the earliest with Rogue One coming up.

This figure is pretty cool I don't have any reason to pick this up. I want a Empire Strikes Back SH Luke with alternate arm with cut off hand and cut up face.
Heh, no, I will always do the Star Wars reviews, too near and dear to my heart to miss on any of them. And now that I have the farmboy version I think I'd go for a Bespin Luke next over any other version. Not that there is a lot left. Ceremony, Hoth, Pilot, Farmboy with Stormtrooper gear, Endor, Dagobah training. Okay, so there are a few versions to be made...

I got both Lukes. You sold me on Maul and Kenobi in this line and I'm not a prequel fan. Can't have one without the other though! Maul is actually my favourite figure out of the four, then this one.
Maul is hard to beat, it's insane how good that figure is.

When I saw this pop up in my Sub feed I was like "oh no, it's not a Robo review!". Haha, happy to see it is one of yours. (No offense to the other guy, his reviews are good as well :P).
Another awesome figure from the SH Figuarts line. Only gripe, like was with the Jedi Luke, is the golden highlighted hair. Not terrible, just would much prefer the blonde color they showed in the preview pics of the Jedi Luke figure. Oh well!
The gold is puzzling, but at least it's not as full on gold as the Jedi Luke, it's toned down just a bit. And yeah, all the Fwoosh Star Wars reviews are mine. MINE! Ha!
+The Fwoosh I'd love to see someone do a custom repaint of both the ANH and ROTJ Luke hair color. Mostly because I'm not skilled enough, nor would I ever try and repaint a Figuarts figure. But it would be great if someone else was brave enough to do so :D

Oh yeah, it hits closer to the holidays.
I had no problem getting the helmet to close flush over the smiling face.
I've since figured out that the pegs weren't fully plugging in, in fact, they still don't. Weird flaw but like I mentioned in the video, not going to be using that face anyway.

Thanks! Yeah, that's the good thing and the bad thing about imports. Pre-order is so far in advance that you kind of forget about them. But if you don't forget, you wait and wait and wait. It's almost like the force me to buy other stuff while waiting.
When you put the Black Series FB Luke next to the Figuarts Luke his proportions look way off, not just because of the soft goods but the head looks way too small compared to the body and the hands look a little too big. Anyway, can't wait to see the comparison a between BS Jango and Figuarts Jango, that's a comparison that might be more fair.
I prefer the blue background. I can't afford this fellar right now. Shame, as the longer I wait, the more I pay.

This is probably the only chance at a good Farmboy Luke. The Black Series is okay, but this....wooo. I'd be interested in seeing how the model kits would do human characters but I think it would put a lot of casual fans off if they have to paint in all the details of the face. I'd love it, but not everyone would.
Took a chance on this one and ordered it before your review went up when I normally check out your review first, should be here in a couple days...good to see that the figure looks awesome.

+Sean Dillon I'm exactly the same way. That's what led to having extra sets of the R2/R5, Boba Fett, and several Stormtroopers and Sandtroopers. Some of them are still in the box but knowing they are there if the itch comes up I don't have to wait.

Another great review! Love this figure, just got him in! Smiling face, I could do without. Regardless, just amazing as usual from Figuarts! Oh, check out ebay for a replacement BS luke tunic from Malaysia seller (rickhor409). This replacement was a major improvement.

Right, they don't come in through Bluefin. There is no ban on selling them to the US like the model kits, you can order them from overseas stores, they just don't sell them through their US distributors. They probably can't show anything yet until Force Friday anyway, Rogue One stuff.

Some people pointed out to me that he kinda grins when Obi-Wan compliments him on his flying after they meet, and then I went back and re-watched the ceremony scene at the end. He grins and smiles all through that scene. But that only made me want Luke in yet another costume...thanks man, I appreciate you taking the time to listen to me ramble on about toys.

it probably doesn't but does the belt come off or is it sculpted on?the black series new hope han has a stormtrooper belt that comes with han might be able to fit it over lukes belt cause this luke looks pretty slim
The belt is sculpted onto the lower tunic. Can probably come off, pull apart the body at the waist like most other SHF, but you lose the bottom of the shirt if you do.
I'm with you man i feel they are messing up kinda badly with all the prequel love.(Especially AOTC, the worst SW movie imo).
By the time they get all the figures i need done i fear i will be 50. (currently 43)

We're about the same age so we're in the same boat. Will I live long enough to see that Han and Chewie? Who knows! The thing about the Prequels, I don't care about the movies but I like the characters, if that makes any sense. I don't like seeing the whole line devoted to it but there are some I want. And don't get me wrong, OT all the way. I NEED the ANH cast all in SHF form.

I'm kinda pleased with the figuarts hitting the prequels if nothing else because Hasbro seems to have moved on.
That is one of the cool things about them going Prequel for the most part. Hopefully we'll see that Grievous at some point. But the kid in me wants more OT too.
I'd love to see a Grevious at some point. But yeah, I can understand that, Prequels were what came out when I was a kid.

great review. now could you possibly put the blast shield and the training ball on the black series farm boy Luke? that would hide the awful head and leave the figuarts as the main center piece of the shelf.
After posting this I saw someone on the forum do exactly that, and then it hit me. The reason the back of the head comes out of the helmet is to make it just a standard regular empty helmet.

falcongunner I always associate blast effects with import toys, but as far as the helmet goes, yeah, agree. I mean, Han came with switchable gloved hands and the Stormtrooper belt, Luke should have come with extras too.

The belt is attached to the lower tunic. It can be removed but you lose the bottom of the shirt too. And yeah, room video is coming, waiting on a new camera.

I actually don't have a Bandai trooper, always found them to be a little small, so I don't know what Luke's head would look on it. But if I had to pick between Farmboy and Jedi I'd have to go with....gah.....Farmboy. Jedi was he one that got me into imports so there is a lot of sentimentality there, but Farmboy is more accurate, I think. And I skipped on unmasked Kylo, I don't know why, haha. Han should be here soon.
This Figuarts Luke is superior to the Hasbro version. At least this head sculpt resembles Mark Hamill, the Hasbro one looks like He Man crossed with Derek Zoolander.
Is the belt a separate piece from the tunic/lower body like on the SHF Mace Windu and Obi-Wan figures? If it is, what I'm thinking about doing is getting this and a rickhor409 Luke tunic, popping it apart at the waist, slipping the tunic on, and putting the belt over to hold it in place and complete the look.
The belt is part of the lower shirt, or skirt. But with some careful trimming I'm sure it could be separated.

This figure is a must have! I've found him for a pretty good price (not saying where of how much in case I inspire others to also get them). I agree, I wish it had a stormtrooper belt like blacks series han. hopefully we'll get that with figuarts han as an extra accessory like the vader/anakin head that came with rotj luke (i'm assuming the upper and lower halfs of luke seperate and reconenct with ease and the belt is a seperate piece like other figuarts)

Don't know if it's just me but I got the hasbro version then I see the figuarts has made one and I instantly felt regret the figuarts blows the hasbro on away I'm it has minor flaws but it's loads better than Hasbros. I mean what happened to the black series it started of so well and now there ok figure
