Excellent video, as a drone pilot I just kind of assumed that there would be a flight controller in there somewhere, and your video has shown me that you yourself have to be the flight controller when flying planes, I have a whole new respect for you fellas!
Omg, that is so easier than I thought it would be. I use to be in a engineering program so I assumed I would have to manual program the motors to the control and give them inputs. Thanks!
I got into fpv and this really helped me out to understand the basics, cheers man :)
Thank you, have just built my first plane and this was invaluable :)
Super! Glad I can help!
@@RCwithAdam1 I'm thinking about building one but i dont have much money nor knowledge about electronics and coding, im in 8th grade and i dont know if it would be better to stay away from building one until i get more knowledge from science class, what do you think?😶
@@Dafix you should do it, it’s super fun
@@cubeofcrabs i have a biology project now where i just have to create a model of DNA and i think im just gonna make it with an electric motor so it could spin, i bet it'll be the most interesting one out of the entire class😎
I want ro build but im new bie im planning to build a Cessna type plane@@RCwithAdam1
Great video for understanding the basic concepts.
Little late to the party but great video! I'm putting together an AR wing for quiet slow flight fpv and maybe some random robots for the kids. Thanks for your easy to understand and non pretentious explanation
Absolutely perfect video. Thank you!
This is awesome, exactly what I was looking for.
thanks Adam. Very helpful, clear. Much appreciated.
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!
Finally, I have found a video that actually teaches me how the electronics work, unlike a lot of other CZcams videos. Thank you. Quick question, is there a way to create a failsafe without an arduino that cuts the throttle if the connection between the tx and rx is lost?
Great demo--I am just starting to build planes. thanks.
This is the Best explanation video! ❤ Excelent, Thank you!
Thank you brother. Great work!
Great vid! Excellent job.
omg I finally found a good easy to understand video
Exellent video realy gives me the will to make an rc plane myself
GREAT tutorial!
Its nice you have given your transmitter a name. Hello Terry Trasmitter :-)
Thank you. I don't know why but I expected this to be more complicated.
1:12
it's a great idea if you put those further in the back (only slightly) and add 1 more servo for roll control
i never build an rc plane before, but i played ksp enough to tell you roll controp is really important, oftentimes more than yaw control, you can get out of a bad course with roll but not solely with yaw
Thank you I actually understand how to do this now
Yay! 👍
Just getting started in RC Airplanes and this video was fantastic.
Oh good! Welcome to the hobby!
Thankyou, this helped me a lot
Glad it helped!
Thanks for help
I'm unlucky and my name is Jonah. I knelt on my brothers' balsa-built plane 70 years ago and I've never forgiven myself.
oh
Did you change your name and gender to never show your face again?
Thanks bro. Please put some Videos on how to use this stuff ona drone💪
great vid
I want to know about the full circuitry, like how much power each part can handle individually and all together, and how to tell that, and what other batteries you can hook up with the combination and how to tell that as well. Please. Thanks!!
thanks for this
I want to build a plane and i understand everything you explained because it was informational, but how do i get the fuselage and body. I want to save time and get a kit or something
Hey the only thing you have to worry about when it comes to making sure brands work together is the transmitter and receiver right? Other then that everything else should work?
Hey adam how would you connect a stabilisation unit like the aura lite 5 gyro system to the system
Great presentation
How about other components such as
Autopilot, GPS, etc.???
what about if you have ailerons which also act as elevators how do you connect to receiver?
I like the size of airplane you built. Can you identify the basic components you used: motor, esc, servo's name and model numbers?
What electronics do I need for a Nitro plane? I bought a used plane with no electronics, so I can follow your video here for the receiver and servos, but what about the ESC for Nitro and battery? Thanks!
This circuit was for small RC plane but for little bigger plane how can we decide that upto what power means amp, volts etc we could select for all the components, what and how are the relation of power in amp, volts etc among all the components so that we could select such components for the custom RC plane?
Video was good. Got nice idea about the components. 👍 Thankyou.
Quick question I am preparing to build one with a small gasoline engine have bought a few parts will that work with the speed controller?
Are you using the battery power for Mototr, Servo and Receiver?
can you provide battery power to servos and just get the signal from receiver?
Planning to make one can i build the wing plane With the electonics in this video?
Hi, so I’m a beginner (like i just started today lmao) and I was wondering how could you connect the servo into the elevated part of your helicopter? I was confused on how it goes up and down while the servo was going sideways. Same thing for the rudder. Hope you see this lol cuz i rlly need it for a project that im doing.
Also!!! love the video, as a beginner you explained it so well. Thx for the vid!!!
Hi! Even though the servo is sort of mounted "sideways" on the wall of the main body (the fuselage) the actual moving part (called the servo "arm") still moves mostly in a forward and backward motion. The control rod (the long connector piece) attached to the servo arm is connected to the elevator "control horn". The control horn (which is attached to the elevator) converts the forward-backward motion from the servo into an up-down motion on the elevator. (this works because the control horn is at about a 90 degree to the elevator, and the control rod is free to rotate within the control horn). Let me know if this makes any sense! 🙂
Where does the receiver gets its power from? Is there a connection to the BATT pins that were not shown? Thank you.
Would someone be able to send me a link of other videos within this series. I just got into the hobby and trying to learn.
I need something small for a magic. Pocket remote as on key falb and what ever it takes to power a servo... any suggestions?
Thanks for this excellent video, Adam! It's really awesome how you didn't have any trouble trying to explain this concept so simply.
I just had some trouble trying to understand how you would control your aircraft without using ailerons. That would restrict movement in the roll axis.
Now I understand how you can use the rudder to yaw, but then there's a limit to that. Yaw too much, and your plane will stall.
The kind of rc plane I'm trying to build has to be highly maneuverable in nature and I want to bring in another servo motor to control both of the ailerons.
Can you help me with the connections for a third servo motor?
Thanks in advance!
Hey thanks for the feedback. Basically, you just need to have one open servo port (using a Y-splitter cable) or two (one for each servo to control individually) to connect the aileron servos.
@@RCwithAdam1 Thank you for your response! This has helped me greatly.
Thank you for this video. I just got my first plane kit and you answered a lot of my questions.
Great video.Where is the best place to buy all this?
Fantastic video, thank you! Do you have any recommendations for where to buy a kit or parts for an absolute beginner?
Thanks! I would check out the FliteTest Mighty Mini kits.
awsome
Hi i have a question. For the servos that control ailerons, do they need to bé plug in the same Channel ? If yes how does thé receiver know to make them Rotate with an opposite directions ?
Thanks for the video. I want to build a plane but I have no experience or knowledge, my questions are can I mix and match servos? Or do they need to be same brand? How do I know if they are compatible? Thanks again.
Hi! Generally yes, you can mix and match servos.
can you put links for where we can get all the electronics you have?
awesome vid. can you do one with fpv components too?
Thanks! FPV for fixed wing or multirotor?
Thanks
damn you deserve more subs :)

Hi help me to follow the instructions on my transmitter to connect a second model to it ? I got the same transmitter
Does the motor still work even if i dont plug the battery to the esc? Bacause my esc doesn't have that yellow thing on edge of the wire where you plug the battery.
*GREAT PRESENTATION
Questions
1. the signal cable ( yellow = white = orange) (PWM) ?
2. power ( red), Ground ( Brown)
Can i find these in electrical workshops / shops what about the prop?
If I wanted to build a glider without the motor and just have the control surfaces how could I power the receiver?
Do you need specific parts that match amps and specific qualities?
Hey hi
I am a huge fan of your video
I have some doubts
Why does my lipo battery (lemon 2200mah,11.1volt,3s,30c) spark continuously while i try to connect to my esc (30a (deans connecter))
Maybe is it because of friction
I am actually making a plane
And I am using the battery mentioned above and the 30a esc and 2 servos and a 2200kv brushless motor
And do u have any idea of the total flight time
what type of esc i need to power my Brushless motor 1400kw
thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much GOD BLESS YOUUUUUUUUUUUU
So if I have a gas powered engine and then need to get new servos and a transmitter. I am new but have picked up a old sig kadet mark 2. Not sure what to do with all the connections. Idk if you have made more videos on how to connect everything. Also broke college student so if you know some cheaper options that would be great
Great vid! I have Spektrum DX4e transmitter that I got with Blade 350QX2 (that I lost) and it was RTF. What reciever do I have to buy? Would it even work??
OutdoorMentor Thanks a lot!!! So ar6210 from ali express would work? I want to build my airplane and get into the hobby 🙂
Thanks. Well I just realized that my transmitter is actually Spektrum DX4 and not DX4e... I'm kinda worried now, because it doesn't have inversion option (for the elevator) and I read somewhere that it's only recommended for Blade 350 QX2... Please let me know if just buying a receiver would work with my transmitter, or do I have t buy something new.... Thanks a lot, Martin
OutdoorMentor Okay 🤔
RC with Adam can you tell me about what did you add in the server and attach it to the rudder .tell me please
Hi! Do you mean the pushrod connections? I used guitar strings. I talk more about that and other control rod methods in this video czcams.com/video/8bsR0deOo-4/video.html .
What type of baterry does he use
I bought a harbor freight mustang 10 years ago and broke it but saved the servos and motors in a bucket . I have a couple of flysky rx's . I bullding a plane hopefully before the sun burns out .
I was given an airplane that has everything but the battery and the receiver. Can you suggest a way to find the right battery for the setup? It is a small, 3 channel balsa model.
Hi! Do you know the model name? Just a guess, if the wingspan is around 30 inches, maybe a 1000mah 3s (~12.5v) LiPo battery.
Adam i have a question. If i wanted to have a screen on my transmitter/controller that was a live feed from a camera in the plane like drones have. Where would i fine a controller like that. Do i just strip a drone controller and use that?
TBS (Team Black Sheep) made one a few years ago, but I think they stopped making it. I don't know of any others. I think you could just DIY mount an FPV screen/receiver onto whatever controller you want to use.
I'm pretty late on commenting, but if you had multiple rotors, how would the set up look like to have it run off one battery?
Hi! For a plane, you would have a Y splitter from your battery to two individual ESCs and motors.
like how the Transmitter has Labels but i cant find a transmitter with easy/quick labels within my budget
Can you use the servo without having a esc and motor connected to the receiver?
With this setup, you could not use the motor, but you need the Battery Eliminator Circuit (BEC) that is part of this ESC to power the receiver and servos. If you connect the battery to a 5v regulator to power the RX, then you can power the servos and don't need and ESC or motor.
Can a transmitter work with any type of receiver of the same brand?
Hi! Not always, nowadays many brands make multiple types of receivers that are compatible only with certain transmitters in that brand.
what about if I use the diffrent model reciever and transmitter but they the same brand?
Hi! That would work fine.
Okay thx
Can you add a link to the stuff I need to buy
Hi, I have a question; what kind of material is the fuselage itself made of?
It's made from foamboard (Adam's Readiboard brand) from the dollar tree (NOT the Elmer's glue brand, which is much heavier).
So, am I right in saying the days of having an ON/OFF switch for the receiver are over?
Correct.
Did you cut and go back to talk about motor just to say" nut" and" shaft"?
Hi Adam.
If I build a test bed with all the component's for the plane I want to fly, and want to test my tx before installation of the esc rx and servos, do I need tohave a motoron the test bed or can simply bypass the motor. So iwould have the battery plugged into the esc and the esc to the throttle section of the rx , then the required servos for the channels required. Or do I have to have the motor connected to the esc in order for the test system to function.
Thanks
Bob
Generally you do not need the motor connected to test the other components.
@RCwithAdam1 Thanks Adam you really helped me out on this one.
Cheers
Bob
Hi adam i was wondering what material you were using to build your airplane, i cant seem to remember the name of it.
Hi! This is Adam's ReadyBoard, commonly called foamboard or foamcore. You can get it at dollar stores.
RCwithAdam thank you!
What esc are you using?
should the battery be a normal small one or a big square one
Battery shape is not a factor. Typically Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries are used.
hello. I want to ask if it's normal?. if my servo motor moves by itself and returns to the middle position when I first connect the battery. or do I need settings in the transmitter
That sounds normal. Whether the servo centers itself or not is determined by the signal the transmitter is sending to the servo (not the servo itself). So if you want to change that, you will want to adjust the trasnimtter settings for that servo channel.
How are these things secured in the plane? Would hot glue work?
Hot glue for the servos and tape for the esc and receiver works well. Velcro for the batter. And it's best to screw the motor to a "pod" that can be fairly easily removed from the plane.
Should the battery be a brushless one?
The batteries are Lithium Polymer batteries and they can be used with either brushless or brushed motors.
Where do I buy the parts?
What's the difference between an ESC with BEC and one without?
Hey! If the ESC doesn't have a Battery-Eliminator-Circuit built into it, you'll need a separate battery pack to power the receiver and servos. Nowadays, it is rare to NOT use a ESC with BEC for airplanes. However, standalone ESCs are common for quadcopters because they don't need to power servos or the receiver from the ESC (that's powered from a pad on the flight controller).
i didn't get the bind plug
👌
How do I know if the receiver can connect to the controller
Generally they need to at least be the same brand. But also, the manual or product website should tell which kind of radio protocol it uses.
Where can i buy this ?
How they stay stable in windy conditions without a controller( imu)????
Well, they kinda don't! But if it is a good aerodynamic design it will do much better.
Can I have 2 esc on a reciever
@@smipy yes. That is common for a twin motor setup (note: you do not need to connect the power wire from the second esc to the receiver).
How do you know how much a motor can lift
It depends on the propeller it's spinning. Usually the motor manufacturer will provide a data sheet showing the amperage draw and thrust at different voltages or throttle values.
How can I bind a transmitter that doesn’t have a bind button
There will probably be a binding option in one of the menus. What transmitter do you have?
RCwithAdam Carson reflex wheel pro without lcd it’s quite old and meant for rc cars
From where we can get receiver easily?
What kind or brand are you looking for?
