I always prefer the songs that David is singing on; but this song is so beautiful and tranquil, that every once in awhile, I just want to hear it! It’s a Beautiful song! ❤
Having worked at the very studio ranch as THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY in Burbank, now levelled by Warner Bros. to make way for more new sound stages.... it may come as a surprise to some fans that it was the Ron Hicklin Singers along with David Cassidy and the legendary Wrecking Crew studio musicians who were the actual recording artists for the Partridge family. This beautiful song was one of the rare times that David's stepmother got to sing on the show, and without David. The great arrangement has more depth and emotion than the original Cowsills version. The Ron Hicklin Singers were the sounds of TV's BATMAN, LOVE AMERICAN STYLE, the movie MASH, scores of records and commercials... just incredible vocals!
Great song - I got the Partridge Family cassette as a gift in the 70's and when my dad a WW2 veteran who passed in 2017 at age 92 served on the USS Louisville CA 28 and witnessed (52) sailors and rear Admiral Theodore Chandler buried at sea due to (3) kamikaze hits in the Pacific War. After being with him at the hospital with family as he passed - when I drove home - I played my cassette and this song was playing. Thanks for sharing your video!
A song the Cowsills did and an example of the Trapp Family influence with an updated version of their choral style. Bernard Slade based the Partridge Family in equal thirds upon Canadian act the Big Coin Sound, the Trapp Family, and the Cowsills with elements of his own family in the mix. Maria was the widow who toured with her children in a strangely painted bus.
I love me some partridge family You know I came across this song just seconds ago listening to the cowsills version I never before knew of that family But now I Will listen to more of the cowsills As I do the Osmonds and yes The partridge family
All thanks to the "real" Partridge Family" - The Cowsills. Did The Partridge Family do any other Cowsills cover(s)? It would be great to listen to how it/they compare.
Yes, me too! Even though I love this song and I love hearing Shirley’s beautiful melodic voice, I particularly love when David Cassidy sings on the albums!

This song has the most beautiful lyrics!
This is a "really" beautiful love song. Tops! The Partridge Family's music catalog was always vastly underrated.
That first season of TPF was awesome! Not a bad episode anywhere.
This song has absolutely beautiful lyrics!
You bet - so intimately soothing to the soul
@@scotnick59 I couldn't have said it better 🙂
50 plus years and it still sounds great!
One of the best covers that I’ve ever heard.
God bless the Cowsills for the original.

A sweet sound from a sweet time.

That 1st season of TPF was pure magic. All the episodes were great!
I am a big fan of the Ron Hicklin singers. They were unsung heros (no pun intended), like the Wrecking Crew.

Tony, my father, also fought in WW2 in the Pacific Theatre as a US Marine in the Battle of Okinawa and passed away in 1989. Thank you my friend
Blast from the past. Love the song!

What a different song from the partridge family it's very good though

1:30 very much a Beach Boys influence here.
Thank you the Cowsills for creating this song and the Ron Hicklin Singers for singing this here song.
One of the most beautiful songs ever made. In my humble opinion I think the Cowsills version is prettier
Oh, David! later life was pretty cruel 2U
Apparently David Cassidy isn't singing on this track, it was recorded prior to final casting. ..
David Cassidy wasn't intended to be on the recordings. Shirley talked him in after production started.
You can tell this is the first season before David started singing the songs...it's ok but my favorites are when he started singing for real....
