Lex has done it again, Brad - “a painter of music”. You bop and whoop, Lex, as Brad sits still and brooding, and then you distill into a few well-chosen words what underlies the notes and words of a song. As one, we silently agree, as if the light bulb had shone in our minds too. Be well and happy, both, and keep sharing the joy of good music. â€ïžđŸ‡ŹđŸ‡§đŸ‡ș🇾

Bowie loved to take on different identities during his career. He was Ziggy Stardust, and Aladdin Sane, and Halloween Jack, and he ended up as the Blind Prophet. "Golden Years" and "Fame" are from when he was the Thin White Duke, almost like a stylish, dilettante, lounge singer, who flirted with soul and funk but had a darker edge. I'll never forget picking up a greatest hits CD on a black Friday. It was $1. At the time I liked a couple of songs. I didn't know that much about him or his music. I'm more of a hard rock guy but damn If I didn't like every song on it. I wore that CD out, I played it that much. It was setup with his hits chronologically. It shocked me how much I liked his music.

Once somebody said that Bowie was a rock's greatest chameleon and it has become a label.
      But Bowie wasn't a chameleon!
Chameleon is a creature who changes his color and pattern to become the same as the surrounding space. He become the same as others.
On the contrary, Bowie always tried to be different (and he said it directly in his Changes). Different from others, different from fashion and different from previous himself. Instead of becoming the same as surrounders he changed them, they started to mimic him. And when Bowie noticed that surrounding space took his shape and pattern - he immediately changed his own shape and pattern to became differnt again.
      Bowie was an anti-chameleon actually.
