He's an epic troll. He has a very distinct face and since he gained the muscle back and grew his hair out again, he more or less looks the same as his 2001 self, just older. He doesn't use the deep "party dude" speaking voice he employed back in the early 2000's that's about the only current difference.

A mysterious collective of powerful figures in the music industry who conspired to create a persona to manipulate and influence the masses into believing in/consuming..... fun? overall positivity? and general self worth??? lmao that almost sounds even more silly than the normal illuminati stuff. I know he did take a break from music for some years as well and people point to that as a sign of him not legally being able to talk/make music or whatever. Maybe he was just simply burnt out and needed time away, and it fit perfectly in the overall narrative to just say he was legally binded that entire time? I'm not sure as to why he would perpetuate this conspiracy. Could be 300 IQ level self promo. Could be to purposely confuse everyone about him as an individual so they become frustrated and stop worrying about him as an individual or his "celebrity" and just take the music and message for what it is. Could be purely for the luls. Probably a mixture of all those things and more if I were to guess. But I mean hey this is all just my personal opinion and theory so for all I know it could be true. This may have been a business associate of his. Then there were a bunch of legal battles and it basically killed Andrew's mainstream career. This is when he began doing spoken word and solo shows until he was legally able to tour again and rebuild (and do things like his show Destroy, Build, Destroy). Andrew deflects because he's legally not allowed to talk about some of this stuff. If you notice, a lot of the music from then to now really doesn't sound the same. That is because the Steev Mike group was the producer of all of it. Now Andrew does his own thing. Listen to IGW and The Wolf, then listen to Close Calls With Brick Walls and The Party All God Damn Night albums. Vastly different. There's lots of things that I don't know, but I do know this is the same Andrew WK.
BZZZZ WRONGO. I seen him at a house show in the early 2000s where he shaved his head and then I saw him again less than four months later at another show and his hair was long again. There are at least two discrete Andrew WKs.
weird i stopped watching tv around 2004ish after a massive drug fueled relationship that more or less imploded all i was..i just was about to write a song a month worth recording and saw this guy on mtv etc allot. yesterday i revisitted him because of a computer game music band and my first thought was, either i am in different universe or thats not the guy i remember. I've been following this for years. Here's the deal. That guy being interviewed is Andrew WK. Steev Mike is a group of people which used to include AWK that write and produce the music for the musical act "Andrew WK". The musical act was named after this dude, but for some reason they thought he shouldn't actually be the front man for said musical act. So they hire a dude that looks similar to the guy in case anyone asks questions. Then one day for one reason or another, the front man that they hired was no longer available to front the act. So instead of finding yet another doppelganger, the real dude who the persona was based on said "fuck it, ill just do it". Insert this guy, and there you have it. So when he says "I've always been AWK", hes not lying. He is in fact, AWK. He just isn't the original front man for the musical act AWK.

That is Andrew, he just lost a lot of weight and put on a bit more muscle. I'm horrible at remembering peoples names but noticing a face is huge for me. And his facial structure is exactly the same but with less fat on it and more defined muscle because the dude has probably just been working out and doing small time stuff to get back into the game.

His singing has improved with practice, and with voice lessons. I've seen him live over the years, and while it's definitely possible imposters or paid look-alike have been involved, the (long-haired) guy in this video has been Andrew W.K. since the beginning.
