I might be wrong, but how you performed the trick it is not necessary to have the cards orderd two times. Just the "hidden" card + the cards 1-10 should be enough for this trick. This makes it easier to "shuffle" at the beginning

After you deal the nine cards, you said you pick up the pile you dealt first, but you picked up the second one instead that you dealt five cards. That was the second pile you dealt. Didn't you mean you pick up the pile that had the less amount of cards.
