Donna Summer sings 'God Bless America'. A live a cappella version sung on a cold night during the seventh inning stretch of the 2004 Fall Classic. ( Live )
Since she sang this at a baseball game, I will use a sporting term to describe her ability She is THE G.O.A.T of female vocalists. The GREATEST OF ALL TIME! Rest in Peace, Queen of Angels!
I was watching this in Worcester Massachusetts . It was below zero and her voice wasn't even affected. That's real talent. I believe most other " singers " would have used a backing track because of the temperature and the echo but the Queen didn't need either.
Donna has been highly underrated by the general public of music listeners. And, by anyone who ranks her low on their list rankings of vocalists. I'd put Donna on equal terms with Whitney and I only use Whitney because the general public has seemingly dubbed her The Voice. However, I give Donna a slight edge over Whitney because Donna mixed it up vocally, sometimes sounding almost unrecognizable to the less than casual Donna fan or admirer. Her actress approach to songs sets her apart. Not to mention that she covered various genres of music and won Grammys in four different music genre categories.
Donna and her family were my neighbors and friends at 16 Parker Hill Ave. in Mission Hill. A sign was erected at the corner of Parker Hill Ave and Huntington Ave by the city of Boston which reads "DONNA SUMMER AVENUE". The memories will last forever. R.I.P. Disco Queen.
Donna, being first recognized during the disco era, is often slept on as far as being one of the greats, but she definitely had the voice, and the chops that place her amongst the best. Great voice, and she knew how to use it!
Just saw her documentary. My emotions were all over the place. The tears. The goosebumps. To the outburst of singing with her. I was a kid when she was in her prime. Damn, she was so talented. She was beautiful and caring. No one will ever sing like Donna Summer ❤. So happy we have CZcams. I can always watch her videos and just get lost in her beautiful voice. RIP Disco Queen 💃🏻🕺
She reigns the queen! I grew up on Summer and always knew she had a special gift! This proves it. I’ve never heard her full upper register before but Mariah Carey Go Take a Seat. Man I never knew she had all that!! We’ll always love you Donna!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Suecase Hall I remember that night very clearly. The temperature was below freezing, single digits. There will never be another like her again! Love you always Donna!!❤️
This really hits home, I have recently found out my.Nephew who is serving this great country as a Sgt. in the Army, is being deployed right after Thanksgiving!
Ms. Summer, this is just a beautiful rendering of a favorite song. Our Chaplain leads us in this song each month. Its energy lifts us all. Like you, we take the high road out! Simply beautiful! Go Red Sox!
It's the stadium audience singing along in the background. Usually there is a slight delay when these songs are performed at such big sporting events. That's probably what you're hearing.
[[Making a comment about Whitney Houston like that..I kind of felt embarrassed for you.]] Don't worry, I don't worship people. I think Donna Summer is a better singer. You're free to think differently with no shame required.
Wrong. There are performances on youtube of Whitney singing this amazingly. And honestly, Martina McBride is a little overrated.. her interpretations are kind of put on but she hits her notes.
Well it's your opinion, so have at. I just wanted to make sure you were informed. Making a comment about Whitney Houston like that..I kind of felt embarrassed for you.

THE VOICE, no mariahs, no whitneys,no arethas, no christinas, no celines, JUST DONNA SUMMER!!!

Oui Donna était supérieur à toute les chanteuses a voix notamment en direct
@@JimmieJamOfTheDay Slight edge? She was country miles ahead of her. Whitney was a marketing tool against Madonna and had was stuck in one gear.

Those girls today who call themselves singers should watch this carefully!
Mrs. Summer teaches them al lesson!

Well said. It is so easy to get lost in her AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL VOICE!
She's one of the greatest voices who ever lived. She was an underrated DIVA because of her look and life were too simple for the public.
Definitely was one of my all time favourite!
She had a HUGE voice! So beautiful!
The greatest compliment of all, she made it look EASY!
Some of the so called Divas say they have to lipsync in a large stadium because of the echo . Didn't stop THE DONNA 🤭😎😜🤩😍😍😘
As I always say Donna Summer Never disappoints you.
Great performance.
Blew me away!!!! Her face doesn’t even strain with the highest notes!!! Damn great!!!! Unprecedented voice!!!
The stadium is singing with her, like a choir.

@@denniskazmierczkjr9348 The 70s was her decade along with Olivia Newton-John.
So effortless and yet powerful. That was Donna’s trademark. Displayed here for all to behold. RIP Donna.
Bye Beyoncé, bye Rihanna, Bye Katy, bye all those who cannot stand in Donna,s shadow.
They're not trying to
I was actually in Worcester Massachusetts when she did this live performance. It was extremely cold as you can see from her breath.
Such a voice to listen to... void of that tiresome melismatic nonsense, just pure and resonant.

Only Donna Summer and Martina McBride can sing this song. Everyone else embarrasses themselves, even Whitney Houston.

This highlights just how amazing and effortless her voice is (even though she kinda flubbed the last note).

Whitney used a backing track because the echo confused her.
