Shadowfall was crazy fun, but after a few days everyone realized the shadows couldn't destroy Watson fences and that's half of what would be where the ship extracted you, they'd just go there and set up right away. It was impossible for the shadows to win, and took a lot of the fun out of it.
they could destroy wattson fences it you'd just be killed before you could swing 😂
You have Titanfall movement as a shadow. You could clear 2-3 fences off a wall run and then jump

talking about the elaborate setups people would make inside buildings. That paired with even more Caustic and Wattson traps from other teams would end up with practical strongholds, lol

@@Grrtalso back when matchmaking made it so you could actually play the game without sweating your balls off. I feel like that’s a bigger deal than the way they handled collection events 😭 not to mention it’s not like the gambling went anywhere we still have apex packs
Wraith, lifeline and wattson had the "low profile perk" which they used to receive 5% more damage due to their small hitboxes
I'm pretty sure pathfinder did as well and rev. Path and his giant legs would take normal damage
@@DevinHeidarev and path did. Tbf Pathfinder had a wayyy smaller hit box then he currently does. Revenent though...he always had somewhat of a big hitbox.
@@jadenmurray1325 then rev ult would originally give you only a radius to work off of and also bring you back to one health, one caustic trap would kill the whole team

@DevinHeida at the very beginning it didn't have a time limit or a radius. Then they gave it a radius and a timer season 5ish, but made it so you came back half health. Season 7 they buffed his climb and made it so it was only radius. Just in time for his heirloom.

@Grrt Forgot to mention about in OG season people was able to carry over what is now the golden backpack, 4 batts and 4 med kits and 2 granades, but the late game on match usually was people spamming like crazy granades against the last enemy teams and won in that way.
And if they had a lifeline, they would just stand in a corner to out heal each other

Hey Garret, I love when you make videos like this because it shows that I'm not the only one reminiscing about Apex and how different it used to be. I've been with this game through thick and thin and remember everything from s0 to now, like the first Gold Shield perk to the UFO in the sky to the crappy muzzle flash issue and even the weird shield changes in season 6 (Shadowfall and the spectator eye are things I personally wish they'd bring back again, at least as options).
It always feels so surreal thinking about how the game used to have all these different things that made it a weird and fun buggy mess, and then seeing uploads about them as if they were some collected myths most people will never actually get to see. If I had a chance to experience old Apex again I would gladly take it, but I also almost don't want to see it return and stick to being a charming time capsule of "you had to be there" memories. The history of this game is great

Shadowfall was the best LTM ever. The UFO is Elysium (on olympus). I also loved the havoc attachment. Also i like to land on the top of the waterfall (top right) and slide so i fall with the water that's falling, it's fun to do

fun fact you could actually get here in game! i have done it. there was a bug a while back, i wanna say like s2-6 i dont remember, where you could intentionally disconnect your internet and if you did it right for some reason all timed out of bound zones wouldnt kill you, and even stranger the barriers preventing you from landing there would be gone! no clue how this works, i found it by complete accident when my internet was really bad, replicated it by using the application suspension bug since it sometimes did the same effect. this was fixed after people abused that bug in ranked to go under the map i believe tho.
Exactly, Mirage went from learnable counter ult to learnable counter ult. They need to combine the OG with his current one. Start off with his OG turning invisible for 4 seconds, then uncloak with his new one. Something that would be worth a longer cooldown

Only OG players remember that Wraith’s tac was also trailless so she would literally pop out of thin air anywhere around you.

The UFO teaser may be a place on Kings Canyon specifically that nobody has been to, but people definitely have been to that exact POI on Olympus, the UFO was released as the "Elysium" POI on Olympus.
I remember every single one of these. I have been playing within the first month of it's release.

Shadow fall was fun and terrafying but after the first few days people just kept leaving once them became shadows, makeing the evacuation part too easy or hard if you where a shadow
I am not sure and I don't wanna be mistaken but about the gold armor at 6:54 u said that at season 0 that was the perk of the gold armor but ig that's not the case, as I remember the season 0 perk of a gold shield was that healing items when used they got a 25% or 50% (I don't remember exacly) decreased the time to consume it
When talking about portraits you could also mention the old version of Crypto portrait when he looked in the same direction as the others. I liked it more to be honest
I remember all except the Elysium teaser on Kings Canyon, also og Gold Bag was awesome
I definitely remember the sniper scopes on the G7 scout and honestly me feel so refreshing to Get kill from the long range when I had it on.

I really want shadowfall to come back. I know a lot of people would just leave when they became a shadow but now we have systems that have been put on LTMs to keep players from just leaving instantly, so Respawn should just do that and bring it back!!

So I know this will be ridiculous, but I feel like they should bring back the Dummies as a playable character in a free update for everyone to play as. I think it would've been fun to play as a them and I see it as a test to go against other legends with someone who is completely random. I'd love if they came back for casual matches and they updated their kit to be given a random tactical and a random ults. So you can have a Bangalore smoke as a Q with Ash Portal as an ult. I think that would be funny to see, You can get something completely useless or something really good anytime you use an ability.
That Olympus ufo teaser was also present in the firing range as well. It was near where you spawned in.
Also you can’t put snipers scope on the Triple take anymore bc it isn’t a sniper now.
And now that charge rifle laser beam is gone they could bring back select fire Havoc, it will be unique

The issue with shadow fall was that everyone would leave after they became a shadow
Mirages old ult also would only have footsteps for the actual player
From 2K Kills on Mirage - Season 0 to never really played again… I personally missed his all abilities, was way more fun and full of flanking opportunities than being a useless support :’(

This brought me back man... thank you for this video. Hopefully they bring at least lore back soon. The glitches were the best, the og days were amazing, but still love all the new legends. Super hope they bring back lore at the very least, which I believe they are. Just miss the community from the old days, this current community is almost as toxic as COD. I got my hopes up!

I think the spectator icon was removed in S8. Because i remember playing S7 and spectating a hacker with 26 other people, then in S8 when i spectate another hacker i cannot see how many people also spectating

i remember wraiths factual from season 1-3 having the same activation time like in TF2 multiplayer when it was instant and then it got nerfed where it was slightly slower but fast and then to what it is now today
I think you missed one of the mechanics of the golden shield. When did the golden shield give you an accelerated recovery by any of heals. Remember that chaos when 2 guys with golden shields couldn't kill each other till they will have no heals left

I remember being so ready to hop online and play with a lot of Old Friends one of which who had a falling-out with earlier this year if I'm not mistaken but it's the past though. Cheats exist that allow people to see how many people are spectating them anyway and even hear their mic audio so the number of spectators ui being removed was pointless. There's some video recently of people asking an aimbotter who they were spectating if they could hear them, and each time, the cheater nodded aggressively. When they said they were recording, the cheater wouldn't shoot as long as they were spectating them instead of their teammates.
speaking of the new apex mode, when you load in, at the bottom it says shadowfall which is the original season 1 mode. It might come back? potentially?
