I was 9 years old when my dad took me to watch this fight with his friends. I still remember the feeling . The place was a funeral, we saw a hero falling down.

Nothing to be ashamed of. The man fought with honor and glory. Frankie was just the faster and more accurate man that night and even if it didn’t last, it was HIS night to shine.
he got whooped
@@Jersey1287 took a while for that to happen 😂
@vcd: Fought with honor. Blind man. Ignore the constant low blows.
@@jerrytang3146 that’s what some call honor, doing anything to win at all cost. Some people are crazy
Those body shots are killer shots from JCC. He had an amazing career.
That 1-2 by Randall was textbook perfect form.
Randall was tough as nails, and really had Chavez's number. He probably should have got the nod the 2nd time too. And that one Mexican judge that scored this fight for Chavez was a disgrace.
Chavez deserved to lose, especially after a couple of questionable endings. Taylor and Whitaker both fought better than him but couldn't get the win. I think the judges got tired of helping him out. They admitted they called the Whitiker fight a draw because they were afraid of a riot from the mexicans in the stands. Pernell schooled JCC all night. His record is very overrated.
@@scottodonnell7121 The Whitaker issue was a none issue. The commentators had it Chavez, the analyst at the ring had it Chavez, the commentators around the world had it Chavez and the JUDGES had it Chavez. Whitakers mistake was not engaging more. You have to score points to win and he spent a majority just evading. Randall showed everyone else how its done.
@@TechieTardyeah no everyone who has analyzed that fight had pernell winning it there’s a reason why it’s a controversial decision still to this day you’re just a Chavez fanboy…
@mdmakes8900 so what exactly is a fight? I know it's not running away and disengaging
I remember seeing this fight way back when. And I was rooting for Randall the whole time and I couldn't stand Chavez at the time. But I've grown to greatly appreciate and admire his dedication and courage over the years.
Same here, but looking back I see how great. Chavez was. He always moved one and a half steps forward after any step back, always pressing. He never seemed to be fazed by any solid punches. It was shocking to see him go down for a few seconds. He probably would have won a very close fight if he hadn't gone down from that great right by Randall. Randall really put it in the work in this fight though and matched blow for blow, and didn't give up when it seemed like Chavez was unfazed. A great fight. Chavez was a great champion for a very long time.
Jealous?? Frankie was on steroids
Absolutely despicable, two points taken away, A knock down, And two judges still had it one fourteen one thirteen. One of which gave it to chavez unbelievable. Randall beat his ass. One sixteen one ten was the right score

Chavez was already involved in drugs and his life was a mess and in my believe He lost the fight with pernell Whinaker also
I remember crying after this fight
Excuses excuses. Why can't you Mexicans just lose gracefully. Instead of all the fucking excuses.
@@ericwilliams7394 No excuses witaker won but you would'nt know of Chávez problems with the drugs he was going through at that Time. It was big error on Chávez part to accept the fight when he knew he was not 100% AND by the way mexicanos don't know the word excuses, mexicanos just do It. I think that's a u.s.a. thing because they whine all the Time. Another big error for Chávez AND he said It in an interview that he should've not accepted the Oscar de la hoya fight because he knew he was'nt ready until he healed the head bump big opening AND he fought de la hoya AND lost because he could'nt see because of the blood going to His eyes, the wound was'nt healed 100%, but hey It was'nt de la hoyas' fault. Steele was WAY too involved in this fight. I think Chavez hurt Randall several times with legitimate body shots. But from what I saw, even without the points deductions from Chavez, Randall still won. Considering the knockdown, and the points deductions, there's no way this shoulda been a split decision!! Randall shoulda been given a unanimous decision.......

That’s wild to think about that
Not really. Pernell Whitaker had already thoroughly whipped JCC's ass and won almost every round in an absolute robbery of a draw.
The judges in this bout were even gonna rob Frankie of his rightful win except that the knockdown and 2 pts taken away for low blows forced the one cheating judge to give Randall a 1 point win.

Nobody robbed Whitaker, the entire world voted Chavez, from the UK, to the Analyst, Commentators to the Judges. You need to engage in punches to win and Sweat Pea spent too much time evading. The sad part is, he COULD have easily won, had he just engaged a little bit more.
