Banana leaf idlis | Idlis steamed in banana leaf baskets
In Karnataka, it is very common to use leaves of jackfruit, banana, screw pine and turmeric to steam idlis and similar type of rice-based dishes. The practice of using leaves is deeply rooted in their tradition, reflecting the close connection between the people and Nature. These leaves impart a distinctive flavour and aroma to the idlis.
Today, in this video, I have used banana leaf baskets to steam idlis.
