Take an hour long break when you need it, put your feet in the water, smell the flowers, and enjoy the hike in some beautiful forestry. We met people that were trying to do the whole thing in 4 days with 18-20 mile days. That's just not for me. Like you, I can't pass up a picnic table. That's a luxury in the piney woods. We camped for the night at the same place you took a break at the Toxaway River. I felt your pain while you were describing Heartbreak Ridge. Can't wait for Part 4. Swampfox

Tired feet in the river.... Whoo Buddy! ...so nice! Hot toes...Bad toe...Angry Toe. ..Toes should be issued with a 500,000 Mile warranty... am I right? Loving the trip, guys. Let me educate you on Virginia Hawkins Falls. Virginia Hawkins was the longtime executive secretary for the Foothills Trail Conference. The number of hours that she spent volunteering and working on the Foothills trail can not begin to be measured.
I did Table Rock to Sassafras in July with a buddy in his 20's. It was rough! We are heading back out in a couple weeks to do Oconee to Bad Creek. BTW, how do I get a Hickery T-shirt?
