HINT: Before wrapping the meat in the lumpia wrappers, make a small patty and cook it in a small pan and check its flavor. That way you won't have regrets.
Good idea👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
YES MY LOLA DID THIS ALL THE TIME
Very good idea! 👍🏽
Thanks
Cool idea 💡
I like this style of video actually showing the product and process instead of a guy just talking at the camera. CZcams needs more of this.
TIPS:
1. After mixing everything, cook a spoonful of lumpia mixture
in a skillet. Taste and adjust accordingly then proceed to wrapping.
2. It’s important to keep the wrappers covered with a damp cloth to keep them pliable.
3. Always fry the lumpia seam-side down to keep the filling intact.
I had a friend from the Philippines that use to make Lumpia for me. I'd ask her to make me (her name was Mercidita, but we called her Mercy) 150 lumpia and I'd pay her for them lol. They were the best food I'd ever tasted. I love lumpia, and I'd like to try to make them myself.
Karen Lovett lumpia is the BEST!! Yeah when you make them be sure to make a LOT cause they go fast hahaha. Make sure to freeze them separately so they don’t stick together. They become one large brick of you stack them in a bag and freeze them all at once.
I also tasted lumpia from a Filipino neighbor … and she would make the best pancit until I learned to make it
Go for it, cause I surely am. They look delicious, and I love the crunchiness.
how much was it
I was introduced to lumpia at a fairly young age because my dad was in the service. A lot of the filipino moms would make large batches of lumpia and sell them. I fell in love with lumpia on the first bite. I remember one time my father and I labored in the kitchen all day making lumpia ourselves. We both agreed it was easier to buy them rather than making it ourselves. 😂 My two other favorites are pancit and chicken adobo. Yummy! 🎉
I love Lumpia...my Auntie-in-law is Philippino and I always come home with a freezer bags full
So good! Score!!
Im full filipino and I used to live in California and Now that I've been out of California I can't find filipino food. So I make it myself and I've made filipino dishes for my filipino friends
I' really excited to find this recipe. I ate this all the time in 79-86 while Stationed in Subic Bay and then our mess cooks wife would make it for us. It was my favorite meal and have not had it in 37 years. But now I can make my own. THANK YOU
Navy vet here also. My first encounter with lumpia (and pancit😋) was in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba 79-80. Glad to now have both recipes!
I love how the cat is just chilln taking notes! Lol
lisa Chai Hahahah
Yes, the cat. Lumpia Police on the go.
Charlie. F. Thank God he ain't making tunafish Lumpias cause they would for sure get confiscated by the police 😹🤣🤣🤣
I lived the kitty popping up lol
This is by far the best cooking video I’ve watched. Very thorough, no nonsense talking, yet very informative. Thank you!
Yes I love that you got technical with the frying! I need precise instructions like this. Thank you!
Thanks so much for your content and sharing your mom's recipe. Where my husband and I work we have an extended Fil-Am family. We are so honored to know, love and experience such kindness.
Omg! I have been looking for this for over 31 years. When I lived in Sinop Turkey I met a German lady and she made these for me and To this day I have never tasted anthing like it. So thank you so much. This was one of the greatest memories of my life in Turkey. Many blessings. Stay inspired! 😁😇💓

Yes! your process, ingredients, and technique was what I was much more used to compared to all the other videos I’ve watched
We made this for Thanksgiving yesterday and it was hella good! Thank you for the detailed and easy to follow instructions.
I'm thankful he mentioned the low sodium soy sauce, really important for a good cooking video because it's easy to get the types of soy confused and you'll ruin a dish with too much salt!
I made this recipe tonight and we all loved it! Thank you for sharing.
This was great! I love the list and yielding total and how to.
I was introduced to lumpia in my hometown in Alaska where we had a large Filipino community. We used to make lumpia for school fundraisers. But most of ours were veggie and the veggies were just chopped thin. Once in a while we’d add ground pork.
Joanna Mallory nice! What veggies did you put inside?
Philip Lemoine typical stuff.... carrot, cabbage, onion, garlic, I’ve never seen raw eggs added. So many different ways to do the same foods!
Joanna Mallory nice. Yeah I think the egg is more to bind everything together. Did you season the veggies at all? I mean add any sort of liquid? I’m interested in making some veggie lumpia next but mine always come out dry.
Philip Lemoine honestly there was some moisture in the carrots, but other than some garlic and pepper...no. We put all the ingredients in a bowl and mixed them... then put them into the VERY thin wrappers and fried them. Always sold a ton of them though!
A local Filipino restaurant on my commute home made two types of lumpia. They had the veggie type similar to spring rolls and this type, but with maybe a small pinch of well crushed red pepper flakes, which they called Shanghai lumpia. They served them with a ginger/teriyaki sauce.
Your Mom's lumpia and pancit are just.......absolutely delicious. And when it's made from love from Mom and family...YOU KNOW IT'S GOOD🌿🌻🌿🌷
The cat cameo is hilarious 🤣 is he sitting on a stool? Lol
lol yeah haha
That cat is a pawsome actor, I think it might be Robert DiNor as a cat.
Kristina Bell haha I was thinking the same thing!!!
I had a friend, Neri, who introduced me to Lumpia, She passed several years ago and I have been wanting to make them so I found your recipe and made them. They were delicious and my family loved them too.
I want to thank you for sharing your mother's recipe with us! I made this for my son's co-workers. I received so many compliments and, was asked to make it again!
Thanks again, peace blessings and love 😘
BTW your fur baby's adorable 😍
Muffy Chao that’s so great to hear! Thank you for watching and commenting :)
@@PhilipLemoine I think the cat wanted to help you make lumpia

Made these for Christmas and they were a big hit! Thank you for sharing. ❤
I’m so happy I ran across this video In my suggested list! I can’t wait to make some! Any videos in the near future on the different ways to prepare plantains?
This recipe looks delicious!! Thanks for Sharing
Love the way you wrap the lumpia. Not everyone knows how to wrap pretty.
Shout out to my mom for that! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Just made them! I no longer have to remember how I use to make them. Thank you!!
I have made lumpia before when an Asian friend taught me how. We used ground chicken, jicama, and other veggies. So delicious. I love your recipe and will make it soon. Now I actually know how to wrap the lumpia correctly. So informative. I am looking forward to trying other interesting recipes you mentioned. My little grandsons LOVES mac and cheese so I know he would love that kind.
Was liking the recipe and video a lot, and then you started talking about using less plastic and I LOVED IT!!!!
zookey93 I posted a few other videos on my channel on how we are trying to use less plastic! Check it out
Learned a lot from you, love your cat and most of all,all your cooking techniques and saving old containers and plastics.
Okay I have to try this recipe too! It is also different than how I was taught but I think I may end up liking your recipe better. Thanks again for the video.
Thank you for sharing!

I made my first batch tonight while watching this. Was delicious. Thank you for posting. And those pot stickers are good purchased some myself (:
Very very good demonstration of preparation 😊
Awesome stuff. I just subscribed. I love lumpia 😍. Growing up in Hawaii was the best. Awesome content philip. I'll be sticking around for more videos.
I was stationed on the island of Guam. My mother flew to see me. I took her to a farmer's market. They were selling Lumpia. We both enjoyed the taste.
A lot of common recipe they use in Guam is just strained cook ground beef not really pork in it... bean sprouts, cabbage, some rice noodles, and carrots those are the main ingredients...
Tried this recipe tonight. It was my first attempt at lumpia and it was a success. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Thats awesome! Im so happy they turned out great! Its a lot of work but so worth it!
thanks for sharing. Used to have thess alot when we lived on Guam.
Great recipe Philip, I will be trying this.
I love that the kitty is observing your lumpia prep techniques! Looks like kitty is on a stool so he can view action at eye level!
Yes i notice that too Helen God bless keep it comin'
It’s unsanitary
Looks and seems fabulous!
thanks for the recipe. definitely gonna try this..
I just discovered your channel and I really like the way you explain your recipes. 👍
Wow! This is super simple. I thought it would be more difficult. Thanks!
Yeah pretty straight forward! Its just the rolling part isnt fun haha
Thank you for your videos! I moved from HI to the mainland and I've been forced to learn how to cook lol. Looking forward to more popular local dishes!
lumpia is a tradition for my family to make and i love it sm ate it since i was a a tiny boy
one of my favorite dishes served by the cooks during my Naval career!!
Thank you for sharing your recipe
Thank you for the 707. I needed that today. Aloha.
Yummy 😋 making lumpia’s for Christmas dinner 🍽️
One of my fav dishes fried lumpia , matching with spicy sauce, thanks you for sharing your video .
I always fry a little of the meat mixture before I roll them so I know what the meat will taste like and season it correctly
Great tip!
I do the same!
Same
I wouldn't know. When we try corn tortillas wrapped around chicken it's open on both ends so your sure it cooks but seasoning is always by look.
I do the same 😊
Thanks for sharing! Enjoyed this video!!
CoffeewithChu thanks for watching and commenting!
The measurements for the ingredients were perfect!! I weighed everything too. They were soooo good!!! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you🙌🏽 great video
I LOVE that you talked about recycling plastic !! I was already enjoying your video but mahalo nui for sharing and bringing awareness! No single use plastic + LOVE lumpia !!
kymmi lee for sure! We’re not perfect and still use plastic daily but we try where we can. I have uploaded a few videos on how we try and live single use plastic free. Check it out on my page. I made a playlist. I shot a bunch more and plan to upload them ASAP!
No these are great .. simple and well explained ..good job son ..tell moms she taught you well ☝️😎
Great content Phil!
omg! your cat is so adorable just watching you make those yummy lumpia!!! 🥰🥰🥰
OMG!! My mom makes these sorta the same way! but she only uses beef i believe, i help her with it whenever we make it ,and its fun, I actually take a big interest in cooking!
Thanks for the video bro! Very well explained.
I like your tattoos & your cat!
Please continue to share your great recipes w us.
I like how you rycled your container to used as a measuring bowl. I like your lumpia recipe.
Julia B Mangaliag thank you 🙏🏼
Love your SF Giants hat!!! And my sister in law (who is Filipina & Chinese) taught me how to make lumpia just like you did yours!! GO SF!
The lumpia mouth burn at the end is well worth the subscription! lol
That's like how we make lumpia also.
You had me at "Old Poke containers" 💕
haha. Aloha, brother. Good video thanks! :)
I store my lumpia in the bags that the wraps come in! You can store a LOT in each bag and just put a rubber band around them. After they are fried, the bags get used to hold compost scraps or trash..
Totally love your recipes. I knew you had to be a local when I saw the sugars in your cookie video. My kids loved it, and had no idea that I used almond flour. For lumpia I also sneak in spinach or celery, whatever I have on hand. Freeze them and kids can throw it in the air fryer. I also encourage and support zero/low waste! Keep up the awesome work!!!
You say "pretty much" way to much
Thank you! Love the Cat!
Melisa Palmorn thanks for watching :)
Philip, thanks so much for the Filipino recipes. Have not found any Filipino restaurants where I live and miss my time in the P.I.
Those look yummy! Making them this weekend. I love Lumpia! Thanks! New subbie 🙂
FOUND IT 🤤 can’t wait to make some dishes when I get home from work! Gained a new subscriber for sure (:

Looks like you have a helper up there. Ya know, cats love lumpia too. So cute!
Lumpia! Wish I had a stash in my freezer to cook up...look SO good!
Love the cat! Keep him in every video!
The cat is my favorite part!
Great vibe.
Michael G thank Michael! Have a wonderful week. Aloha 🤙🏽
Philip Lemoine 🤙
i love your kitty. Food looks good too!
Hi Philip! I live in Mauritius Island. (Looks a lot like Hawaii btw) and we actually have this here too! We call them "Nem" here though and they are very popular too. It's quite funny when I see similar recipes from other places. Thanks for sharing.
Prior to combining vegetable components with meat, I place minced vegetables on to cheese cloth and squeeze/remove liquids. Removing liquids makes for a crisper lumpia especially if it's left sitting prior to service,
Yey! What's good?
Conscious in using less single-use plastic. Good job 👌
Wow Fantastic! I have been really enjoying all of your videos! I’ll definitely have to give this a try. I love the presentation of your video. You make it look easy! I also make cooking videos for CZcams. I love to learn from talented creators like you!
Your cat is so cute! 😍 and thanks for the recipe ! I will be trying it today🤪
Haha he is ALWAYS hungry!
Would like to try to make lumpia again soon
Great recipe and explanation. Good 🐱 Kitty ❤️
This looks delicious! We fry our lumpia in duck fat and use the same dipping sauce! They sell it at our local Asian market. So good!
😋😋😋
Ooo, duck fat! Delicious!
Your cat is sooo Cute!!💞💞💞 Thanx for this recipe and great tutorial..
I LOVE YOUR CAT!!!!!!💕💕💕💕💕 Apparently they enjoy Lumpia too! LOL! Great recipe!
Thank you
Yummmmm. Lumpia, chicken adobo and pancit sounds amazing right now.
Just ate some lumpia and I recommend salt, pepper and vinegar combined to dip them
Adding crushed garlic to that dip might be more delicious if you like garlic 😋
