It's significant to note also that each race Thornbird suffered defeat in was either a stakes or track record performance. She was truly "the darling of local racing" during her career.

Fact is Winson Griffiths rode a POOR race on My Apology.....he got into a handy position down the backstretch and then allowed the Pace and Ultimately the race to get away from him. My Apology was finishing best but too late. Apart from that If you Listen to the names of the Horses in this race, Almost half the field was A1 horses. That tells you about the quality then and the quality now.

Although Fanna was my favourite, but Emilio Rodriques rode some brilliant races in the US towards the end of his career, some longs odds winners.
