How to Tie the Celtic Heart Knot by TIAT (A Knotty Valentine)

- čas přidán 26. 12. 2009
- PFT-V2 Book Link: tinyurl.com/k6z... The Celtic Heart Knot is the woven realization of a design I saw etched into a friend's ring. Stunningly simple, yet at the same time perfectly evocative of a heart, the knot looks amazing as a center piece to a necklace or bracelet. Its also the knot I plan to use for the creation of an I love knots sticker thatll be available in early 2010.
Congratulations to whoever was able to do this successfully
Thanks
It's a little bit difficult to tighten it.
@@DRMORSEgreekwellville bro this vid was made 12 yrs ago, that's crazy. That's when I was born
Try this in steel round stock😁
Thank u!!

I don't understand why people are getting frustrated. It's simple in design! It's actually an advance knot. It took me two days to figure it out, but i got it down to decorate my boyfriend's gift, who is is a sailor and loves rope knots.
Don't give up!
I have played this many times and am getting pretty good at doing it solo. Your hands are beautiful and the music is sublime. The best 2:22 of my day. Sending love and light.
I love making this knot. It's so simple and beautiful. Tightening is a pain in the rump, but it's so worth the time it takes to get it right. Thanks so much for sharing!
SIMPLE!? OKAY YOU ARE AWESOME
Please tell me im not the only one who rage quit doing this-
You're not. It's a bad tutial.
This is just knot possible for me.
u r awesome! hahahaha

Just believe in yourself.

That always happens to me ;-;
I just literally did the same thing...
I tried this one and tried to make it and it totally looks perfect ............. !
It took me three times, but I was able to make the heart knot in my daughters hair!! It looks magnificent. Thank you.
His knot: beautiful celtic grace
My knot: a toddler's drawing
Video:ten years old
Me: at the age of around 13, “this video grew up with me”

Lmao i was like 6
Your 16 now aren’t you…
I'm 21 Nd i still can't get it😭😭😭😭 it's been 3 hours I'm trying
Those who are struggling, it is probably because you can't really just tug the ends to tighten it up once you're done. It will tend to tighten in places and go loose in others. You have to kind of tighten by sections to get the right shape. I just did itty bitty ones to tie round homemade candles. Very nice!
u just made my day. My fiance Brandon is very into his Irish heritage. This will be perfect for Christmas2015.
used this knot to shorten my shoelaces (took me a bit to figure out how to lace/anchor it through the loops, but i got it eventually)!! thank you so much for this super comprehensive tutorial, i never realized heart knots were this simple to do :D
this is great! I tied this using decorative braided rope (intended to be trim) and used hot glue to reinforce the knot. I made several absolutely adorable necklaces for myself and friends. Such a great knot!
I think it looks like a heart just fine, I think all one has to do is OPEN one's eyes to see the heart! Thank You for the video!!!
♥♡ lol
“One”? We are many. I Think. I think. One. One’s eyes.
You only referred to someone else in the “ thank you” part. Even then it sounds selfish.
I get what you mean but, this statement is rather off- putting.
Absolute best description I've found here! Thank you for being helpful!
Thank you, This is awesome, the 1st knot I've tried from your videos since I discovered TIAT a month or so ago. I received my 1st order of paracord today and I'm off and new knotting YAHOO
Ya boy really tryna do this on his hoodie strings for his gf... happy Valentine’s Day !
man i cant do it, mine looks like an alien's foot!
Lmfaooooo
SAME HERE. I tried so many times but at the end mine just looks like a knot
Minr too
your comment made me laugh way too much, thanks for commenting this four years ago
mine looks like a little turd
I make silver jewelry with my dad and I am working on tying this knot out of some silver wire. finding a balance of thickness and flexibility is proving to be somewhat of a challenge. I have to heat up the wire and tie it as fast as possible while it remains flexible, but without burning my hands. THanks for the video it helps a lot...
Thanks for the instructions I used it on my dinner rolls and they came out amazing! Cheers from Israel!
Perfect for Mother’s Day in quarantine!
i made this on mother's day :D best feeling EVAH!
thanks so much this tutorial was so helpful!!!! i did this knot with my shoelaces and tied my converse a really cool way using this knot!!!
It's so simple! I thought it would be difficult! Thank you! Please include in your commentry about what sort of cord we need and of what length.
When you say simple, I did not expect it to be so simple. Thanks.
Who's here in 2020 when you're just done with life? 🙋
I made 4! One for me, one for my friend, one for my other friend, and one for my other friend. BEST VALENTINES DAY CRAFT EVER! (For me )
Excellent demonstration!!! I’ve tried so many ! Excellent! Thank you!
Took two tries with a 16" x 3/8" rope to get right. Helps to stop video in places to compare and go slow. At the end you have to stop the video and compare what you have made to the knot on the screen, take your time and study it. A little loosening and tightening are needed to shape the knot and you should have it. If anyone thinks this knot is hard, try fishing knots with 4lb mono.

Or you can slow down the video on the playback speed.
I did it on my first try
Instructions not clear enough, ended up pulling out own heart.

You mean 'Knot' clear enough?
@@subspace2913 -_- lol
truly wish these vid tuts had a recommended length for each project
Gracias, soy de P.R y me gusta las manualidades, Viva el arte
Instructions not clear. I ended up auto-asphyxiating myself in a batman costume again.

Dammit, I hate it when that happens.
can u people stop calling him names and complaining about the video? knots r not easy and u have to work to get them right, don't come here and bitch about the video because it is very clear,u can see how he does it, I understand the frustration but don't get mad at the man, just try to improve ur knot skills, or just give up, ur choice
calm down
+Abdul Basit Bebal i was and I am calm, I just think its idiotic calling the guy names
+Mariana Martins ,me talking to myself : actually she should not calm down the ones that r knot trying should calm down
People are just impatient or quick to frustration with a simple mistake even if the project itself looks easy. Practice makes perfect. I’ve worked with slave bracelets so much (and made many mistakes along the way) that I can do them in my sleep.
Mariana Martins They're just internet trolls . Stop getting so sensitive
I got it on my first try!!! It is not only a heart, but keeps up to make an amazing Celtic form!!!!!😃
Love how simple the design is, thanks for all the knot love ^_^
interesting knot,
This knot really does symbolize love. If you go to fast, it won't come out right and usually end up with nothing/the same thing you started with. If you pull to hard it turns ugly. It takes many tries to get it right, but when you do, you feel very happy with yourself.
Can't wait for the stickers in early 2010. :)
This.video is so well made! Doesn't need spoken instructions as the quality of video is very good!
Elementary yes! But what a stunning knot!
Who's here at 2020 lol
2024
You really know how to tie yer knot Greg, son. Thanks for your time.
i tried it once and it works its just doing it dont give up and thankyou that i discover this if not mybe next valentine day im done
im finding it difficult tightening the knot because it likes to go ugly when you tighten it
+stevenmeier16 you gotta start tight if you start with a lose knot it'll be harder to tighten it and make it look pretty
+OpheliacMonster I just can't do it
Why can't i do this *frustrated*
Wow It looks like magic
Love your videos! So wonderfully demonstrated. Years ago I was into macramé. You have once again piqued my interest in knot tying. Thank you for sharing. I am pinning your site to my favorites!
Nice work JD. Just tied my first one and gave it to me daughter. Thank you!
When I first saw the picture of this knot, I thought it was a freeway off ramp in Los Angeles.
stunning, cbys
Very clear .. follow the finger placements exactly. And use thick cord for maximum effect. I used wool first to practise then thick silver cord, the kind used for piping garments and it looks amazing. I finished it off at the top with wire and i also wove tiny crystal beads into it. Thanks so much for sharing your skills!
Y’all I did it! After ten years of seeing this video, and failing at remaking it, I did it!
I've always thought this knot was cool.
It's been 5 years
@@jonah3269 It's a pretty cool knot
Followed along and made a perfect one first try! Thanks.
Wow
Thank you ! And thank you !!!!!!!
I made a metal necklace
With this beautiful KNOT HEART.
Again thank you very much
Not to brag, but I just did this first try.
Very proud
This would make a really nice wall decoration if you made a bunch in a row
I have used this video and tied a lent of viking knit into a stunning necklace, on more than one occasion.
I'm so happy I found this guy.
Nice tutorial. Very first time I got it. God bless.
Instructions unclear, mine looks like a literal human heart

I got it first try! Not sure why so many are having trouble. keep the knot loose don't pull it tight right away work it tight a little at a time.
It took me a half dozen tries but I finally got it! Thanks
Okay but like am I the only one that had this in their recommendation in 2019
same
oh my...I've tryed six times!! it's not easy at all.! oh my....try again...😘
Excellent tutoring. Thank you for sharing. I knew this as a kid but have forgotten all. :)
nailed it on my 2nd attempt. now im off to get sum supplies to make a 2 toned one as a gift for my sweetie.
ok. i got this, but why 1:52 it literally looks like heart with sharp edges at the bottom but mine not?
I would like to learn more of this. I'm not sure what to look for when buying cord for knotting. Can you tell me what to buy for someone starting out? Thanks - Mia
Hi I've been learning alot from these videos thank you so much jd of tiat. I got into knot end of 2013 by chance. I love the celtic knots you don't see the celtic art and designs here in Ireland much anymore which is sad.modern living. not many want to learn the ol craft so thanx for keeping the art alive .Tony
Surprisingly easy. Good tutorial.
what kind of material that he used ? not paracord , right ?
Omg it's easier than I thought
Me too
I have used this tuet and tied this knot in viking knit. It turned out very nicely!
So lovely. Thank you for the easy-to-follow demo. Never seen this knot before.
I like the background music.. =)
Love the music... can't get a Pandora station though... check out Shakiban's web site too, I found it and there's some great music there.
Note to self: Make it using spaghetti
Note to self: I can't make it with spaghetti
XD
Note to self: Shoelace is possible. Just a bit harder to do it.
I made it with it :P
Hayun Hong At least shoelace doesn't break ...
Morgan Snailz The rope from the shoe (shoelaces lol) are design to not to be broke, so yea its obvious.
I had nothing better to do than make stuff out of string :) Thanks wonderful knot guy
Thank you that was so easy your instructions were super easy
Would make a lovely center for a bondage harness :) Ouulala! Love this!
she is so kinky but yet she's right! it beautiful
:)
You would be a great teacher if you would take out the music and explain each step at a time. But as is, it is really hard to know what to do to make it look like a heart after all the tying is done. Other than that I guess I have to say thank you for posting what you did. But it is REALLY frustrating to try this with out proper instructions.
Mad Max ya
Thank you for this video! I'm going to try to see if I can do this with the hemp cord I've got. Would make a nice addition to my bracelets!
+NobodyKnowsAnything Did it work for you
MQ I'll be trying it out tomorrow! =) Been too busy for crafting this week. ^^;
i made it with suede cord, it came out perfect...thank you for sharing
"A Knotty Valentine" I See what you did there ;)
Mine turned into a... I don't even know..
Janey Banatao
After 14 years...
I finally did it🎉
a guy is doing this better than most of us..... just let that sink in......
I cant do it, must be broken this patch :{
this was easy I made it on my second try😂😂😊☺
first one was with 4mm cord (paracord is 3.5mm-4mm). then made one using satin "rat-tail". and finally made one in metallic gold cord.- xlnt for night wear and so many compliments. even added a pearl drop.
thank you for this video. am gonna speck out your others.
Nice vid making a Valentine's necklace for my mom with this
Yeah it took me some time but I figured out how to fix up a heart that I let down XD
I'm 11, 12 in September I DID IT YAASSSS SS 😂😂😂😋😋😋😜😜😜😎😎😎👏👏👏
The reason Your strings aren't becoming Celtic hearts is most likely String placement, not the type of string. Make sure your string looks exactly like it does at 1:15. Notice which string stays to the right side. Because it sometimes swaps the string in the heart backwards, which gives you just a knot.
Thanks my guy
An added design to my project. really helpful. Thank you.
