  • If you're like me you have bought the Canon R50 camera and require additional batteries. I could not purchase OEM batteries from my stockist so I purchased 3rd party batteries and I was surprised that this feature does not exist.
Partially coded batteries do work in the R50 but with some limitation.

Thanks for the explanation, I found out the hard way this week, was out filming and just got an R50, using it to film some static shots about 10 mins in length, at one point I came to stop the recording and it had died, had no idea some/most aftermarket batteries don’t report battery life correctly, I was using Artmans and they kept showing full charge until they died.

Modern batteries hold output for as long as they can then die. This doesn’t damage the electronics in modern equipment

Thank you for the information.....I was going to by straight aftermarket...after you mentioned the battery display etc, I looked up fully decoded and found Artman Batteries that are fully decoded and report battery health ( I have not verified other than Amazon website). I am ordering one though....cost is $28 US for one. Just some new information.

Is there a portable power bank that can charge the camera's battery but use the camera at the same time?

    Hey Darren, Great stuff mate.
Just wanted pick your brain on what looks like a new shiny toy.
    1. How is the dual charger where do i buy one like your great self?
    2. How do I access the battery health feature as a non tech woman myself.
    3. What's your favorite cameras to take on a nice road trip with your partner?

Thanks for watching. Amazon or eBay should have a dual charger available - maybe look for DR-E 18 batteries, 3rd party batteries won’t show battery health as they’re partially decided. Fave cameras at the moment are the M50, R50 and Sony ZV 1. Battery health is under the Wrench (Yellow menu), page 5, Item 3 - Battery info

No battery grips that I’m aware if. Maybe there’s a custom 3d print version
