    I have 2 veggie clips that I keep in aquarium 24/7, they have spinach, red or orange peppers and courgette on. I also get a small dish of tank water that I add powdered repashy to and this gets squirted on to the plants with a turkey baster. I’ve noticed that they will also eat frozen cyclops when I feed this to the other fish.

    Packham pears, skin off. Just a small chunk of one held onto the glass with a spare suction cup and clasp I have.
    I also make some food for them. I get some pears , watermelon and cucumber and blend those up together and then add some spirulina powder to it until I have a dough like mixture. I chop it up into little half centimetre sized cubes and keep it in the freezer. Now and then I put one into the tank on a little shelf I have near where their pear bits go. It slowly dissolves and they suck it up off of the shelf.

      @AquascapingCube  Před 2 lety

      Thank you! Yes you should try cucumber. And don’t worry about waffers - it really depends on the brand of the food and source of the fish.

    • @ukaszmorawiec5348
      @ukaszmorawiec5348 Před 2 lety +6

      Maybe because most of "algae" waffers have very low algae in them. Most of them have fish and grains as main ingridients. Look at hikari mini algae waffers : fish meal, wheat flour, wheat germ meal, cassava starch, dried bakery products (dried old bread??), Alfalfa concentrate, alfalfa meal, brewers dried yeast, soybean meal, fish oil, krill meal, spirulina, garlic etc.

    You didn’t touch base on how often? Do you do a waffer like once a day or is it 2-3 times a week? I hear some say that feeding them too much they’ll stop cleaning the tank? What are your thoughts

    • @AquascapingCube
      @AquascapingCube  Před rokem +2

      I try to keep the diet very diverse. 2 different waffers, 3 different vegatables and the rest days are for algae, wood, leaves. I feed only every other day: wafer, nothing, vegetable, nothing, different wafer, nothing... and so on. Never had any problems with them stopping cleaning the tank :)

    Hi newbie keeper here, just want to know if otos can eat boiled banana?

    • @AquascapingCube
      @AquascapingCube  Před rokem +1

      Hi. Yes, thay can, but not boiled - it might spoil the water very quickly. Raw banana is ok. And don't leave it for a very long time in the tank, as soon as the fish are full - take it out :)

    • @AquascapingCube
      @AquascapingCube  Před 2 lety +4

      I would feed them blanched Zucchini or Cucumber. Plus maybe crushed spirulina flakes. But remember that blanched veggies will quickly rot and spoil the water - so be careful and do frequent water changes! And most important: Congrats and good luck :D

      I bake them in the oven at the lowest temperature possible for 30 min to dry and kill parasites. I use local leaves n 🇨🇦 oak, maple, beech, walnut, chestnut. Pick non-diseased leaves from a clean area. Local fresh stinging nettle provides the medicinal benefits.

      @@AquascapingCube that is the way to go if you want to be really prepared just rinse out a can , sodium free 1/2 cans of either French style or fresh cut + vitamins A , C , D , & K . During the canning process they are cooked so my 1 tip is clean and then strain it. Personally I would remove all of the seeds @ this time too and then into a food storage bag then remove as much air , I might spend 5 minutes but I think reaching in the freezer to get a few here and there is always the best 👌

    Microfauna and Macrofauna and algae is what our fish eat in the wild. Why not put it in your aquarium and watch how you dont have to feed your fish. Plus the food dont spoil because its live and beneficial for your tank
