      Yeah I have one of those kits on a bike I use on the road, I get between 40 and 50 miles, and it goes up any hill and that's using it on standard mode, level 3, and I live in North Wales surrounded by steep hills, I don't use a throttle, don't see the point of them. It's a very good kit for the money

    My real reason for a bike is to get to work without requiring a shower. Here in Perth on a 35 to 40°c day can be a bit of a challenge. Just keeping a controller cool would be an exercise and a half!
    My idea is to exercise a little, but to not have a motor etc. Overheat. So I'm wondering what the sweet spot is with wattage and Ah on batteries might be? Need to be able to comfortably do a 40km round trip. Carrying myself and a work bag (115kg perhaps)

    Steve, great video. But I have to ask what is your gearing on the bike? Your cadence at 20+ MPH seems really slow. Also as you know the weight of the bike and rider have a great affect on the performance, how much do you weight now that you have been loosing weight.
    BTW I'm and old fart at nearly 76 yr old and live in a very hilly are here in the Pacfic Northwest. The climb to my house about 350 ft in less than half mile. I love my 750w bike the tops out at 1250 W.

    Dear Steve: I love your videos. You are always honest and relastic. You don't tell any crab, you tell the truth. If you want to do cardio, it is recommended to you to do as many hard hills without motor as possible. After about 3 weeks daily cycling your body gets used it and you lose weight automatically. Riding slow is better than fast to begin. E-bikes are fine, but regular bikes are better to really get in good shape.

      All you need to do is lower the assistance . I don't understand why so many don't get this . If you want a full work out turn the bike off and use the weight . If you want to ride it like a regular bike but with some help then increase the assistance . Then when you get knackered and can't take anymore then use full power .

      densel - he aint in fighting shape guy. fighters are generally underweight to game the system and be the biiger man at the same weight.
      some are better at gaining and adding weight than they are fighting, or just staying skinny and being a 6 foot guy fighting guys that even joe rogan towers over.
      he said himself he got fat, everyone needs excercise.
      500w is a good mix to have a powerful motor and powerful body, though for many, its about capacity as if they have huge capacity, they still wont pedal much lol.

  • @davedree
    @davedree Před 2 lety

    You need to test a Tsdz2 750w I guarantee you it's what you're looking for, stock firmware is excellent and the torque sensing gives you the assisted power that makes you feel like you are still riding a bike. If you get the throttle version you can still be lazy when you're tired, or just enjoying a cruise.
    Theres also lots of options for custom firmware displays and programming to tweak torque sensing, cadence etc.

  • @acelectricalsecurity
    @acelectricalsecurity Před 2 lety +1

    If your using an ebike off road speed isn't the main issue, it's the torque i have a bafang bbshd, and it's great, about 1500w at it's peak, I never use that though, it's usually around 750w peak.
    The bike I use on the road has a 350w yose kit, and that will go up any hill, and I am in North Wales surrounded by hills, does over 40miles on the middle setting, and for £350 was a bargain.
    I don't use any throttles on my bikes, I don't see the point, you may as well but a motor bike if that's your thing.

    I see e-bikes as longevity enhancers not pedal replacements . You'll always go faster as even a 250w will raise your consistent speed and turn you into an athlete doing zone 2 or 3 training, if you're in a built up area you'll be quicker than the cars.

    • @acelectricalsecurity
      @acelectricalsecurity Před 2 lety

      If you get a basic bafang mid drive, they can go up to a 1000w and the bbshd going higher again, plus you can play with the settings using the app or laptop software.

      My 36v yose kit has a 13ah battery, on its mid setting and doing quite a bit of climbing, I could squeeze 50miles but that would be tight.
      The bbshd I have just fitted on another bike has a 19.2ah battery and I did 34miles on that, the battery was just off the red, and I was using its max setting sometimes as I am in the middle of setting it up, plus it included going up the horseshoe pass in Llangollen. What gives you the impression that hubs are more prone to damage? While a mid-drive is more efficient than a hub I would hardly say a hub is slower, it depends on how the hub is wound. Generally hubs are considered to be more reliable than mid-drives due to having less moving parts and no chain or gearing to go wrong.
