Edit: I'm going to be that guy because I have a hellcat.... there is no reason to try manually shifting other than the initial drop down from a roll. The responsiveness is bad and you're guaranteed to be short shifting. The outcomes here wouldn't change much but the Hellcat is leaving a bit on the table with short shifts.
Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that guy short shifting constantly. It wasn't as big of a deal during the roll race, but the dig races were ass.

The hellcat only weighs 1300lbs more. It’s not a 5000+ lb car lol. Plus it doesn’t actually make 717hp, hellcats are underrated, they make more than their claimed figures. That said, I totally agree. It seems pretty well known that Porsche hp is different. And I don’t mean claimed hp, I mean they actually use every last hp. Another car with the same weight and same whp would get wrecked

Hellcat being built as the ultimate factory drag car does get beat pretty often , but it's built on an ancient Mercedes chassis , is Walmart Chick fat and built to a price so . I am not a hellcat / demon fan as they are cars built with what was availible to a company struggling for money and that's why so obese and giant power to try and work somehow . But the Porsche is super Egineerd but SUPER EXPENSIVE .
@@RandyJM21 hellcats are really not built to be factory drag cars. The demon and 1320 are focused with their transbrake and suspension setups but the other versions are more GT cars than anything.
Dudes still shifting manually and people said he can drive? the shifts are faster and more precise if you let the trans do it. The only use that those have are for roll racing to get to the proper gear quickly after that the auto trans should do all the work and lastly used for circuit racing where rpm and specific gear are needed but even then the trans can do that as well but people think this is the way to drive it. It certainly is the safest way because if you mat it and it spins you can shift gear while matted and gain traction but that’s about it, in reality if your looking for a good run it’s done the other way and throttle based on surface is taken into account in rolling into the throttle off the line trans in auto foot braking it or if it has newer tech depending on the model also roasting the tires helps.

I’m a little upset how the Hellcat vs BMW M4 races were done. Short shifting and allowing TCS to kill power. Felt like the Hellcat wasn’t driven as well as it should have been. For the record I have owned both Hellcat and F80 M3 and the Dodge in every respect was quicker. This race the Porsche is no doubt quicker love that noise from both of them!

I felt the same way when I saw the rpms in that video... but when I look at the mistakes I make in my own Hellcat trying to shift and properly drop a gear from a roll I realize that it's a pita and the cars that drive themselves just hold a major advantage. Basically you have to savor every win with a Hellcat because the deck is stacked against you.

The way it goes "ratatatt!" bouncing off the limiter at launch and then explodes off the line and screams to 9000 rpm. I mean, that is not real.
They do make one but it’s not a car. Unfortunately it’s also too heavy so the different in roll performance is massive but from a dig it’s hard to beat.
Power to weight ratio is always the key in a race. I am a Hellcat fan but did not expect the Porche to lose this. Now performance for the price paid is making things a bit more interesting.
Different purposes. A scapel for surgery or a hammer and chiesel . Sure the hammer and Chiesel does more damage. But a scapel is gonna be more useful to save someone.

Auto or manual shifting by the hellcat the GT3 would have won either way. That car is a rocket. It’s all about power to weight. Hellcats are still fast cars that a lot of people can’t handle.
