This song may sound simple, but to do it justice is incredibly complex, and Angelina nails it. Angelina's phrasing and timing are impeccable. She knows exactly how much and when to add a little vocal fry, breathyness, or vibrato to each word and phrase.
I think the song is actually pretty hard LOL, but she is doing a flawless job considering the circumstances with the lyrics etc.

Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" For Queen to respond to someone covering one of their songs is quite a feat since they rarely react to anyone . Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity.
Now 17 years old, living in Los Angeles, and currently signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records had agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. From what we know, she is finally done with school. She had a single that came out May 5th called Love Don't Let Me Go, a new EP called Old Enough that came out Friday, July 21st, a newly released video of her new song called Now I'm The Fool, and a new album of original music which will be coming out later this year. She returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience. On September 22, 2023, Angelina had her first U.S. concert that sold out in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to be a superstar, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!

No doubt you're curious about the repeated shots of Angelina's bare feet. She made a decision at six years old to perform publicly without shoes to bring attention to child poverty and homelessness after meeting an orphan roughly her age in Iran, who was offering to weigh passers-by in order to make money to support herself and her siblings. Angelina stopped to speak to the girl, who she noticed had no shoes and scarred feet while Angelina was wearing a beloved pair of green ankle boots which the girl said she admired. Angelina immediately offered them to the girl and after some back and forth and presumably seeking the approval of her mother who was standing nearby, handed them over. Their conversation turned to their respective ambitions, which for Angelina was to sing for everyone in the world to enjoy. The girl wanted to become a doctor but expressed that her situation would make her goal near impossible to achieve. Angelina encouraged the girl to hold on to her dream and, in return, the girl promised to pray every day that Angelina achieves her own. There or soon after, Angelina, who again was six years of age, vowed that all her public performances would be barefoot as a reminder to her and others of the plight of the girl and millions like her.
Angelina spent much of her remaining time in Norway supporting various charitable causes. A year after giving away her shoes in Iran, she entered and won Norway's Got Talent performing barefoot throughout and reportedly donated a large proportion of her prize money to children's charities. Viral video of her audition subsequently led to invitations to appear on TV and radio across several continents. Back in Norway in 2014, at 8 years old, she achieved a personal ambition to sing for that year's Nobel Peace Prize laureates, made guest appearances at a number of charity galas and recorded a promo video for the Norwegian Refugee Council.
Angelina Jordan's talent as a singer should become self-evident if it hasn't already but her innate empathy and altruism should never be overlooked even if her and her family's current LA lifestyles successfully obscure what I'm sure will be ongoing philanthropic exploits.

Since this is your first time seeing Angelina, you have no idea what you have stumbled on. So please read the other comments to learn what a phenomenal person she is. Her fans, known as Angels will no doubt fill you in on the pertinent details, so I won't repeat them. Any way, there's way too much info for any one person to provide without writing a book about her. As for this song: at first I thought that she had changed a few of the racier lines. But no, she rewrote it entirely. I put her's and the original lyrics side by side and was amazed to think she did it in one day, after her Mom said, no way will I let you sing that (at age 10). She already had the orchestra and studio time scheduled, and they presumably had the arrangment in advance to be ready. She fit the new lyrics into the existing arrangement flawlessly.

Welcome to the barefoot princess/the girl with 1000 voices. You just started a journey you will not regret. The barefoot princess is absolutely a musical genius, even at that young age. She has always arranged her own music even at a younger age than that. You kept laughing about her being barefooted. You will definitely have to learn the story why, it is so heartfelt that it makes you appreciate her even more. She actually wrote a book on it, and she is actually the youngest published author in Norway. I’m sure everybody else will tell you more. I’m also sure they will tell you to do the 1956 Screamin’ Jay Hawkins cover that Angelina arranged herself at the age of nine. It will blow your mind just like every time you hear her. She is absolutely an angel sent from heaven.

You will never forget this day as you have stumbled onto the greatest female vocalist to ever live. There has never been another with the talents this young lady possesses. English is her third language of 4. She is now 17 and signed to Republic Records. Just starting to promote her as she and family requested she be allowed to mature to withstand the stresses of the modern music business. When most hear her, the first few times, they compare her to others. But after a few more songs they realize she is incomparable, the best. She has always arranged her own music and maintains that ability contractually with Republic. She is a marvelous songwriter. She lives in LA with her family now. I recommend you listen to some more recent music, mostly covers, to get the idea of what we "Angels" are talking about! She is the barefoot Princess of a thousand voices, the Queen of Jazz, a gift to us all. Tears, when listening to Angelina are allowed and expected!

She’s 10 here, arranges all her own music and re-wrote the lyrics to be “age appropriate” so her mom would approve. I would recommend starting at the beginning and watching her four performances for Norway’s Got Talent. There is a video containing all four. Have fun!

There are so many to choose it's quite insane... I'll toss a name out for you. "I'm still holding out for you" still 10 years old, and if this song could have been a number 1 hit on the radio, even today. But it was never released, and lucky for was leaked by someone that had access to the Demo she made for the song writer who asked her to demo it. Then fan got a hold of it and made the video, before it was taken down... It's incredible.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on CZcams. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old.
At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age.
Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The money was placed in a trust and available when Angelina turns 18.
Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted.
In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration.
Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and Mexico among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14.
At age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon.
On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year.
During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each.
In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career.
Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on CZcams. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On CZcams, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video.
The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her.
During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles.
In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.
Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield”
In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song.

We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be.

Awesome reaction and you just Stepped into The Best Rabbit Hole on The Planet! She was 10 here and when she and the band had an arrangement she put together, her Mom told her the Lyrics are not appropriate and if you're going to sing that song they have to be changed. Mind you she is 10 and in less than 24 hours she changed the lyrics, in fact last minute changes in the car on the drive to rehearsal. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (170+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles (and many others in between) and do them all justice!
If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. Nice reaction: many comments already and I don't want to be too redundant but I don't see mention of the fact that Angelina (aged 10 year) rewrote the lyrics within 24hrs for this recording after her Mum told her she needed to ! There is a video of Angelina in a car coming from a theme park, where she had had fun with her friends, to the studio - still finalising the lyrics !
