    Finally someone who agrees that beardies are not beginner lizards. Yes they are very mild tempered and have some moderately easy care requirements but they also have some difficult care requirements and they are more like dogs than lizard.

      Awesome Nerd baby bearded dragons are one of the most neediest animals that we keep as pets. Just for the food requirements alone. Adult beardies arent bad at all. They can get expensive but if you care for them properly then you dont get the expensive vet bills and such that can go with them. Just check ups arent bad but if your beardie isnt healthy the vet bills are way more expensive. I always tell people if you cant keep an emergency fund for a vet then dont get a pet period. Much less a beardie.

    I completely agree my first reptile was a leopard gecko and I thought he ate alot but that's why I didn't get a bearded dragon because I found out how much work they were and immediately got the leopard instead.

      Smart choice sadly I got a pet bearded dragon I loved him but I wasn't providing the proper food for him I bought 1,000 crickets and he was eating 40-70 crickets a day and he was a juvinle he grew like 4 inches that week and was shedding like twice a week and pooped a lot I had to clean every day and he even pooped when I was cleaning maybe i didn't have to feed him that much but resurch told me to feed them until there full sadly i had to sell him i was 14 using all my money to feed him but when I'm an adult i will surely get another one they are fun to play with it was just hard to provide his food i use his cage for my male leopard gecko now

    I guess it depends on what you mean by beginner? If beginner means cheap and easy to care for then no. But if beginner means the animal is easy to tame, and hold then I think yes. Maybe we should re-lable this as a low maintenance pet vs high maintenance pet. Bearded dragons are definitely a high maintenance pet. Maybe not the highest maintenance pet but certainly at least mid level maintenance with horses being on the far side of high. For instance I had a pet turtle in middle School and highschool. Every weekend to make sure the water was clean I would have to carry ten 5 gallon buckets of poopy water from the tank to the bathroom and then clean water back again so my turtle could have fresh water each week. The filters I bought never seems to clean well enough. Taking care of my bearded dragon is easy in comparison. But that turtle was worth it she was such a sweetheart, she never bit me and would swim or crawl to me when I called and would let me pick her up and pet her. I had to give her up when I went to college though :'(

      Anastasia Cline I think Bearded Dragons hardiness is another reason they are considered for beginners. They won't kick the bucket after a couple mistakes like an Iguana or chameleon would. I know Chameleons get stressed out very very easily and that can lead to them having diseases.

    Dude I have beardie he was my first pet reptile, all they take is being held atleast once or twice a day and younger kids will obviously get help with their beardie from their parents, they’re stupidly easy to care for

    Hi - I'm looking for a pet, I'm a beginner in the reptile field. I don't have other pets. I found that I'd like a lizard like the Bearded Dragon in temperament but smaller, saw your video mentioned that BD are not for beginners and you mentioned that you would make a video with top 5 reptiles for beginers. There are two species that I saw at CZcams that called my attention: Rankins Dragon and African Fat-Tailed Gecko. I wonder if they would fit what I'm looking for and if I can find respectful breeders that could sell me a mellow baby. So, in that sense I'm first and foremost looking to be educated learning as much as possible before taking any step further. Do you have any advice?

    I need your help with something. I have had my bearded dragon for a year and 4 months. Everything is correct, the cage, the food, all of it, but there are times my beardy dances at the front of his cage. Usually that means he wants to run around for a bit so I let him out, which makes him want to run to a dark place. He has dark places in his cage, but what do I do? Sometimes he dances to get my attention so I hold him. He has loved to sleep on me since he was a few days old. But I don't know what to do at this point when he keeps dancing because I can't always let him out.

      Spoon Fighter well he isn't hungry when he does it, and sometimes he does it like all day....and if there is no rain he won't do it but like idk if he senses the rain or thunder and that's why he dances or what. I just get so confused, and don't know if it's like anxiety, right now he is suggling me.

      Yes. I'e had two snakes in my life. Our last snake died at the end of last year and we were looking at getting a new pet and thinking bearded dragon because of the "beginner" label at the pet store. Good thing we started looking into it. We're steering our 8 year old toward a fat tail gecko instead. Closer to the snake we're used to, with still having the ability to gently handle.

    Have a great radio voice dude. I have a son with cerebral palsy got him "what I thought was a male chameleon" turns out it was a female 2 Christmas ago when he found out they might get egg bound he made me take it to my house. She is still alive I got him a bearded dragon which he loves if you have an email I will send you pics of them. I raise Madagascar roaches and order crickets 500 at a time I'm thinking about ordering meal worms. I enjoy your videos. Thanks man.

    For someone claiming to know a lot, superworms are one of the worst foods for dragons, or any reptile really

    • @GarrettRose
      @GarrettRose  Před 6 lety

      Your theory is nothing without facts. Prove to me that superworms are dangerous through facts, and proven studies then I will respect your opinion.

      Garrett Rose I lost a dragon due to impaction. No substrate and insect source was superworms. And where's your facts and studies about dragons not being a beginner lizard? That's how I and many others got their starts.

    To be honest I think there is no such thing as a bigger reptile just ones the are good for different people for me I never went the easy route my first snake was a mangrove a rear fanged venomous and very mean first tarantula was a obt another mean one. But the reason is am responsible and respect those animals capability so I just watch and no touch. Also I can spend the extra dollar it depends what u look in a pet and what type of person u are:)
