Basset Hound and the "Find It" Game

Last month, I found an Instagram video of a woman who hides a spoon full of peanut butter in her house for her Basset Hound to track down. I made a version of this game for Charlie by hiding his favorite treats around the house and telling him to "find it". It took him a few rounds to start searching with his nose, not just his eyes, but he figured it out. Now it's his favorite game!

I had 2 Basset Hounds...
They couldn't find their Ass in A Closet with a Search Warrant.
But they were the Best Dogs in the World...
Love seeing a Basset Hound who is in good shape. You see so many who are clearly over fed and under exercised, and having had Bassets for a number of years I know they're a breed that has such a hard time if they're allowed to get too big, the risk of injury goes through the roof and they just struggle. Their quality of life is so much better when their weight is kept under control.
Clearly Charlie is a much loved part of the family and he's lucky to have you!
He doesn't like to exercise much but I really try to keep his weight in check!
This guy is good, no doubt about it.

Great idea to train sniffing skills which is basset hound’s particular advantage. Although my Seraphine doesn’t really use it when fallen some treats from my hands but trying to find it with her eyes 😂 hope her hunting ability will be awakened soon.
It did take Charlie and little time to realize he had to actually sniffed out the treats rather than just look for them. But he caught onto the game and now he loves it. I'm glad to give him an opportunity to use his nose and do some tracking

I was thinking of you yesterday! I was going to be making an update video this week. I just opened a home Bakery so I've been super focused on that but Charlie wanted to give you an update so I should have something put together soon
