I have played pool for 35 years, and I love Earl, I play my game based on his style, and it has won me a lot of tournaments, I even have him as a friend on my facebook page. But not giving the girl a hug was being a jerk, she ran over to him to get a hug, and he refused, grabbed his case and cues, without even breaking them down, and ran away. While she stood there almost begging him to give her a hug. I actually felt sorry for the girl, because Earl was such a jerk to her. A hug from a hot female player is not an exception.
She’s amazing to watch. If you want to copy someone’s style, hers is perfect. Would be interesting to see her play snooker with a cue action like that.
🤣Earl Strickland deserved this result, I remember a few years back in the Mosconi cup when he complained about him playing tough shots and the European guys getting easy shots...we call that positional play 😂 congrats Seo Seoa...great performance but just know that Earl really thinks that you got all the easy shots and it was nothing to do with him 🤣
okay but let’s be fair here, that is a huge factor at this level. yeah playing position and snookering your opponents/leaving them difficult shots is apart of the game, but that doesn’t mean not getting good shots to take isn’t a good argument for losing. this is why i have always said their is a massive difference between winning a match and beating your opponent. if your opponent didn’t get to go to the table to take their turn very much, and when they did get to go to the table they were snookered practically every time, and you end up winning; you won, but you didn’t beat them. to beat someone means to best them. but running racks until you come to an impossible shot and then you snooker them and say “okay here you go you can have your turn now” knowing fully well they have no way to rebuttal and you will get your turn right back, that isn’t beating them. at that point your opponent is a mere spectator. at this level winning the lag is actually extremely crucial. just simply getting to break for the first rack can LITERALLY determine the entire match. it doesn’t always, but i have seen it happen many times with Filler vs Shaw etc etc. that’s why i personally like alternate break rules. winner breaks is good sometimes, absolutely i like that style as well. but winner breaks doesn’t keep things very fair
I think Earl was surprised by the hug request. He gave her all the congratulations expected per the norm of the event, but I did get a chuckle out of it. I think Seo was honored to play Earl and wanted to give him so extra "respect" lol.
@@pinedastaglio6500 I have no doubt that she can hold her own in that aspect of the game too. I will be paying close attention to her in the future. Clearly a huge talent
i like her too, but i have to admit that she's too machine-like for my taste. she's very mechanical and soooo deliberate. she doesn't really have any style on the table. kind of boring to watch, except for the fact that she wins. i'm impressed by how well composed she is regardless of who her opponent is, but i find myself just wanting to skip ahead and see who won.
This match is already on one of the livestreams. I think he was sincere when he said she is a great player and better than him (currently anyways). She played near perfect in the match against him. Earl probably isn't the touchy/feely kind of guy, and he does seem concerned about COVID still. It would be interesting for someone to set up a match where they play an exhibition against each other, and as teammates. And hopefully Seo Seoa gets her hug.
NOOOOOOOO, HE IS JUST A RACIST. IF HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT COVID HE WOULN'T HAVE BEEN THERE WITHOUT A MASK ON HIS FACE OR HE WOULDN'T HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Actually turns out Earl had an accident that is more common in gentlemen of a certain age, and was merely sparing the young lady getting too close to his wet spot. He even took her for a steak dinner later that night. Class act.
Rewatched the end and I don't know if that was more awkward for Earl or for Seo. Anyway kudos to the ref for reassuring Seo not to take it personally. I guess it's true what they say: Never meet (beat?) your heroes.
I'm pretty sure Strickland was so confident that he would win this match, that's why he was so devastated he lost, not only lost it was a massacre.(5-1)!
I am happy for Seo and a little embarrassed for Earl. She had a few favorable rolls but overall, played well. She took advantage of every opportunity she was given. Earl hasn’t changed much and could have shown a little class. Damn, the young lady was just trying to be nice about beating you. I’ve always enjoyed watching Earl but he didn’t need to do that. I think even Jason was embarrassed for him.
If the roles were reversed and she declined, she be called brave and the woke mob would be asking why did he think he could hug her to begin with. Besides, not all people liked to be hugged.
If Earl had even an average competitive mind with his physical talent, he would've been the greatest pool player in history. He never grew and, consequently, maintains the emotional stability of an 8-year-old. He let his ego handcuff his unbelievable talent.
I'm not defending Earl's attitude, but this is nine ball flukes are a huge part of this game. but the fluke was off of a safty that was very hard to hit safe plus he actually hit the que ball to make that fluke, seems like you didn't notice that. it's called a hit and hope and it works as much as it doesn't. Really Seo played amazing defense. But Earl was really unlucky had some really good breaks, Dry yes but good that allowed Seo to run out. and the Carrom off the 7 into the 8 really unlucky for that not to drop. The safty he played in the bottom left hand corner that should have snookered Soe on the 1 ball. stopped in the only place where she could have hit it. yes she scratched but still made it and that's fustrating. I wouldn't say Soe annihilated him, he didn't really miss anything she just had amazing Safety's and put the balls down when she got a chance. I guarantee the score would have been alot different had balls dropped on the break for Earl. but this is the game of Nine ball and the one person who Know's the importance of the break better than anyone is Earl. I just don't like people who say the only reason you won is because _________. which is what you're saying.
You obviously don't know what an American is. Nationality has nothing to do with it. He's a has been with a big ego. When that ego gets hurt, his brain shuts off and becomes this defensive person. He's human, and any human can act that way.

He was complimenting her. He said, "you're breaking better than me" then he told her "you don't want to touch me" meaning that his bad play would rub off on her.
That's so funny. She shot good. Idon't think she missed a ball. Shot all the right shots, she played good. Earl got extremely unlucky with the 8 not going in and the 7 hitting the point to line up but listen, gotta give her a little credit. She had a very good performance here.

Seo played flawlessly!!! She is outstanding!!!! Earl has not lost his skill. Simply put, he was given no opportunity to play. What he has lost (or never had) is the good sense to recognize a warm gesture and respond in kind. Serious fail there Earl. I guess an Earl scorn is a roseless thorn. Sad.
A roseless thorn. I like that. Well put!
He had several opportunities, but failed to play effective safeties.
Earl stated "..you don't want to touch me, I'm bad luck.." Earl fist bumped both her and the referee. If it was Earl trying to hug her and she turned him down, how would you then think about Earl?
He fails to recognize the respect extended to him in that gesture. Instead, he sees it as a pity hug. You're right, sad.
@@chrisolson3240I agree in part. I went back and watched a couple matches. Earl didn't even shake hands, let alone give hugs, to anyone else. It seems he is genuinely concerned about covid still. Which is his right, regardless of how anyone feels. The issue is, he is known for b.s. so we all assume the worst. He has also earned that.
Even if I lost 0-11 to her, I would give her a hug if she wanted one. I know Earl was mad about losing, I have been there myself, many times, but he should have still gave her a hug. He is an older man, just like me, I am 63 years old, and I have a feeling he really hates losing to a woman.
You are obviously blind to 'all his exploits' over the years. Earl has sharked everybody he has ever played with his aberrant behavior.
he'd hardly have hugged a man either so not sure why the need for the final comment
@@TicTac2 Go away dork, I do not discuss things with fools.
Cause youre a simp bro. Even tho he got crushed by a female player hes still gave her a fist bump and move on. And thats should be it. All u simps only that a lovey dovey female pool player tried to hug Earl and got rejected, ever thought about what he went through right there?? People have their certain personal boudaries. A hug from a hot female player is not an exception.
The girl want a hug, because of her respect to the one of the best in pool history.....but Strickland is jerk.
She has the best timing in pool. She looks like she's hitting the ball too soft, but she gets so much action out of it.
It's beautiful to watch.
But too slow
@@ekielinot really. Under 25 seconds a shot
speed of the stroke my friend, not the power of the shot. a true professional
She’s amazing to watch. If you want to copy someone’s style, hers is perfect.
Would be interesting to see her play snooker with a cue action like that.
Seoa seemed find speed of table very quickly she played incredible if I was Earl I would have hugged her to make her happy.
I believe that she idolizes him and why not?
Always RESPECT one ANOTHER seoseao is a good player wether win or lose she always shows a good kind of a PLAYER
Hey Earl, not everyone that plays pool is ugly .huh.
Stunning
OMG, I want a hug from Seo 🥰
Why are you stealing other posters comments?
@@turbodraw9138 no way 😂
also Jason Shaw on the other table pure pissing himself laughing.
Is that a pool cue in your pocket or are you pleased to see me
Exactly. I don't understand why people are making this a big deal. Fist bump is more than enough as a congratulary gesture.
Lol the way he acted. He was probably sour that she dominated him. I'd still give her a long big hug even if I lost 0-20 to her
It's funny 🤣how Seo was so excited to hug Earl and he just kept picking up his gear and leaving
great play by Seo... earl has always been like this "bad sportsmanship" & it hasn't been really called out. legends don't do that
Seo Seoa is so clinical. It's scary! If she can keep her nerves and perform like that (break always being the joker), she can beat anyone!
I haven't seen her in a tactical defensive pool battle yet in different pool game formats.
@@pinedastaglio6500 I have no doubt that she can hold her own in that aspect of the game too. I will be paying close attention to her in the future. Clearly a huge talent
Nope. Her safety game is very weak. No chance against the top players. And also her position play is not good enough for guy's with Fargo above 790.
@@udtojanpestillos2094 Interesting. Her positional play was near perfect against Earl. Please point to some of her most glaring mistakes
i like her too, but i have to admit that she's too machine-like for my taste. she's very mechanical and soooo deliberate. she doesn't really have any style on the table. kind of boring to watch, except for the fact that she wins. i'm impressed by how well composed she is regardless of who her opponent is, but i find myself just wanting to skip ahead and see who won.
I would hug her. all day every day man. even if only that, i will be her P.H... personal hugger...every time she pots a ball --> hug!
😂
NOOOOOOOO, HE IS JUST A RACIST. IF HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT COVID HE WOULN'T HAVE BEEN THERE WITHOUT A MASK ON HIS FACE OR HE WOULDN'T HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
to be fair a man his age could die from covid
@@batman30351 As if that were the case, he would play in a mask and not touch the table that Seo touched
If she was white, he would have never said that racist Covid remark. What little respect I already had for Earl has gone out the window
Seo is an assassin! A pretty one at that
Just like Larry David said when creating a sitcom, “No lessons. And absolutely NO hugs!”
She plays so beautifully, precise and calculated. I think she's a robot :-)
What a pathetic lapse of sportsmanship by Strickland. Reflects poorly on our country. And what a remarkable performance by Seoa. A masterclass.
Actually turns out Earl had an accident that is more common in gentlemen of a certain age, and was merely sparing the young lady getting too close to his wet spot. He even took her for a steak dinner later that night. Class act.
what the hell does this have to do with the country? it just a pool game''''Cheese And Rice''
@@lew115 and banged her'''LOL
People on the internet say that Earl is a sore looser, and looks like he just confirmed internet talks. 😂
She really shoots good. Anyone who doesn't miss, is hard to beat.
Rewatched the end and I don't know if that was more awkward for Earl or for Seo. Anyway kudos to the ref for reassuring Seo not to take it personally. I guess it's true what they say: Never meet (beat?) your heroes.
Strickland has all the class of a frog. A great person to represent our country in international competition
A bit of an insult to the frog, there.
You can't show a little class if you have no class. Strickland is still the arrogant prick he's always been.
There's no law you have to hug an opponent, imagine if it was turned around, eww, earls a creep, see how this double standard is.
If Earl had even an average competitive mind with his physical talent, he would've been the greatest pool player in history. He never grew and, consequently, maintains the emotional stability of an 8-year-old. He let his ego handcuff his unbelievable talent.
So sad to see Earl still being the King of Jerks after all these years.
That's Seo, she hugs everyone after the games lmao
Total annihilation by Seo. Well played! Earl even had to get a fluke to get on the scoreboard. Why she would even want to hug him is beyond me!
Ah... One of the more enjoyable Strickland matches over the years 😅
Meaning it was short, right?
proud of your great deal to pool , and love your smooth easy stroke , speed timming just enough
Good to see earl still doing his thing
Earl is the most American thing I've ever seen
please don't say that.... sigh
You obviously don't know what an American is. Nationality has nothing to do with it. He's a has been with a big ego. When that ego gets hurt, his brain shuts off and becomes this defensive person. He's human, and any human can act that way.
That is insulting on every level.
Earl is no longer the pearl but crazy old man
well he's always been a bloody loon to be fair.
young or old. he's never had one bit of class in him.
The sub-atomic particle level shooter, Seo Seoa!
I've never heard of or seen Seo Seoa but I will say she is a very strong shooter, steady and smooth. A pleasure to watch her.
"You're great. Youre better than me. Sorry, you don't want to touch me. I got bad luck. You dont want any of it going forward." I think we were all too hard on Earl
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! Everyone is completely missing the interaction and creating their own story in their head. Nothing he did or said was out of character for Earl. In fact he was was extremely nice to her.
@Nicholas B man, idc. Ive met all these people in person. I was on both sides of this one. And Earl hugged Emily Frazer right after doing this and it made me change my opinion again after this comment
@Nicholas B also, yeah, thats what negative emotions do. You get sucked into this super small world and you dont want to be there
@Nicholas B He never rubbed me the right way to begin with. He could have been leagues better than Efren if he didnt have that war inside his head
Earl loved it. He just didnt want anyone to feel his soft spot
Majestic to watch she is, so calm.
I have a dream Mika and Jeff went to a match again in other tournaments and again they didn't shake hands. lol
Seo was terrific. Strickland has no hint of class, never has.
He was complimenting her. He said, "you're breaking better than me" then he told her "you don't want to touch me" meaning that his bad play would rub off on her.
Seo is so CALM
She has such a sweet, simple, smooth stroke. Very deadly. I see her going far!
That's so funny.
She shot good. Idon't think she missed a ball. Shot all the right shots, she played good.
Earl got extremely unlucky with the 8 not going in and the 7 hitting the point to line up but listen, gotta give her a little credit.
She had a very good performance here.
I like how earl still plays. And what a match she played. Gotta love this sport.
She seems like the sweetest girl ever and humble. She can also crush her opponents just like this.
Earl got pissed off again. Lol. I love earls natural reactions.
This was so funny....mans got a right to not hug....the pool fraternity goes ballistic...🤣🤣🤣 don't take it personally...🤣
Watching Earl lose is the best think 😂😂💪💪
Earl just being Earl at the end.
She wanted to put him out to pasture with a hug…. So sweet :-)
I have watched and played a lot of billiards over the years. This was the most perfect execution I have ever seen. Almost like watching AI play.
He is a bitter man who had a massive part in the last Mosconi cup loss. Her excitement to be at the same table with Earl was evident, and he acted like that. Shame on his poor sportsmanship; he is a terrible representative of America. That said, he is consistent
💯
@@Larryrandom2549 she only asked for a hug after he didn't shake her hand.
and he said "ughh"

Since when is "hugging" a requirement for "sportsmanship"....?
He gave her a fist bump after the match.
She whipped Earl like a stepchild as the old saying goes I loved it
Hahahhahahaha jayson shaw playing beside them too, can just imagine him holding in his laughter as he sees earls face getting more red with each frame
I have never seen him hug anyone else who beat him. Why is this different? You lose, and you want to move on.
Strickland was in the Korea war, but he was against the South Korea..
Huh? That would make him 85
😂😂😂
Common man Earl you're a legend of the sport why not give a hug to the beautiful young lady who probably admires you, be kind Earl
They should play an exhibition match. If Seo wins, Earl has to give her a hug.
A well deserved win for this Lady ... she played great ... given no chance to a not to friendly oponent ... time to retired 😠
Earl, is our world's Van Gogh of pool... In more ways than one
Is he going to cut off his ear? Wa?
Seo seoA dont sad . You well done . Everyone to expect a hug from you without him .❤
Beautiful performance Seo! Earl never had a chance although he was playing well. To Earl that was the ultimate defeat by female and he just couldn't find it in his heart for a simple h u g! I love Earl but that was a pitiful show of sportsmanship. She was trying to show you the ultimate respect and you denied her that. Can't wait to find out what all his excuses are for losing to a female of all things. I'm disappointed in you Earl Strickland. That was a chump move. Joe Lewis class! If you have any.
Love him or hit him, but Earl IS a character. Seoa played amazing and deserved this win. Continue playing magnificent like this.
