- How to build a simple DIY plywood bookcase with a limited tool set! We built this project live at Workbench Con this year, at the Kreg booth. Definitely a less controlled and more difficult setting for building furniture...but it was a ton of fun. Even though this project is fairly simple, it's still a good skill builder piece as it incorporates working with some angles, dealing with orders of operation, and other skills that can be translated to many projects.

Cheers for promoting the idea of anchoring this to the wall! As a former coworker at IKEA, we literally had this drilled into us every day when we worked with customers to remind them to do the very same thing for overall safety. As always, great job!
A quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides is a trapezium - trapezoid for you yankee inch-lovers. Love the channel!
Learn something everyday... I always picture trapezoids with two opposite but equal sides
@@Foureyes.Furniture I always picture trapezoids doing acrobatic flips in the air.
just finished watching a Chris Salomone video, went to my YT Startpage just to see that he uploaded that one 4 min ago. gotta love this guy :)
I got you covered. 😊
Nice work Chris!!! Super stoked to see plans now. Even those are 🔥
Yeah, they should get approved soon...hopefully
Awesome build and thank you for the idea. I’m building one and donating to a children’s dentist office the just opened and my daughter is her first patient.
Just made the same one by myself for the same plan with some modification, great plan!
I think you pulled it off quite well, especially considering people were walking in front of you and talking to you the whole time. Good job!
That definitely made it tougher.
Gotta love kreg products. I made 112 pocket holes using my kreg jig mini for building my bed frame!! ahah Awesome you can build a bookshelf at the workbench con!! 😄
Really nice way to display the kids books. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Kieran
Hello my friend.
Nice project. I watched with admiration. The biggest thing is to always do innovative work and help people with ideas. Thank you also for the free plan. Great greetings. I wish you have a nice weekend....
Very nice! Looks like it might be easy to modify the plan for decent scrapwood storage, too.
most definitely :)
Nice video. Amazing build considering the environment. : ) Kudos to the team! Mahalo for sharing! : )
Another cool one guys!! Glad you guys had fun at the conference!! I might hit one up one year. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Awesome work Chris! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
As if normally filming your projects isn't distracting enough..... Haha. Nice simple project, came out great!
Yeah...definitely made it extra tricky
Saludos de México 🙋🏽♂️
Well done, you go Girl.... I love it. Any DIYs on wood door screens...something out of the BOX... 4:16
Buenísimo, brother
Good morning..Always good stuff from Chris and friends.
Thanks! :)
It is good to see
Well done !!
Thank you for sharing with us.
What is the best plywood for this project?
You can use any, I prefer baltic birch because I like the way the ply lines look. So that's my go to for almost anything with exposed edges
Thanks a lot for your advice.
Saw describe of your channel in Russian metro 😄 Now I'm subscribed. Hello from Russia ✌
Coolish! Just like the builders.
Thanks!....ish
0:48 Man Shawn was at WBCon. Damn it man!!
I need a children’s bookcase.... so my baby has better access to the books to throw them in the floor 😂 Maybe next year!
I followed the link to the plans and there are not final dimensions or cut list - just that the project needs 3 sheets of plywood. Do you possibly have those details to share? Thanks!
Looked like a fun build with good results. But no scrapsketball?! Looks like Shaun was somewhat useful on this one.
didn't want to injure any bystanders with an errant off cut :)
This question is for chris . I was thinking of starting my own woodworking shop is there any tips you can give me like what products are in more demand and how to sell them.if you don't mind.😅
That was a great project, especially for kids use. I make Little Library units for a non profit here in Detroit. I only mention this because... it may also be fun and creative thing to do for you and Sean, maybe for your neighborhood?
My wife always want me to do that. You mean like the public ones where you take a book right.
@@Foureyes.Furniture Yup. They are really a nice thing to do for the kids!
Who are these jerks at 6:52 running your shots to get a little free publicity?? The nerve
Hey Chris, how does the Kreg track saw compare to the Festool, you have and use both right? Looking to buy one or the other, is the Festool "worth" the extra $300?
I like them both and find them to be equally good and useful. Using the Kreg on the table takes it to another level, and I've never used the MFT so I can't really compare the two
@@Foureyes.Furniture a couple months ago I asked for a dust collection video / safety breakdown for your shop, and you said "it's a few months out after you make some changes". That still in the pipeline?
Love the videos and your design style. I would put anything you make in my home 😃
I believe the dust collection isn't as good because the front splinter guard isn't put down, which allows a lot of dust to escape out the front.
Greetings from Austria :).... the one without kangaroos
Greetings from Australia, the one with Kangaroos 👍
Greetings from the US. The one with kangaroos... but only at the zoo.
Hello!! I'm new to all this wood world. I clicked the link for the plans but it's a PDF with the step-by-step of the video. Is there any PDF with the "cuts" like in 1:22 ? Thank you everyone!
How does that Ryobi Cordless Sander compare to your Mirka system back in the shop? Trying to decide between those two given the similar price points...
I'd say they are pretty similar in that they're both on the same quadrant of the color wheel in terms of their paint jobs. But if you value a yellow/Gold aesthetic and/or a really great sanders. I'd go with the Mirka.
Besides the kreg stuff, are the tools used here provided by the convention sponsors? Or was it stuff people brought?
Kreg brought everything for this one, except the clamps which I borrowed from the Pony Jorgensen both.
Why are the plans and cut list not showing on the link above?
Can you attach the link for the plans please
1s for work shoes. Nice. 👍
Is olive oil good for wood?
Did you make a mistake when you said cut a 5 degree angle of the vertical partitions? You’re not saying 5 degree bevel correct? The high side is 14 1/4 so what’s the low side?
What's the thickness of the plywood you used?
3/4" (aka 23/32nds)
Thanks, could this be made with thinner plywood or would the pocket holes screws not work?
Now that Shaun has joined the channel, you really need to rename yourself to Eight Eyes.
Either that or we both get lasik.
LeVar Burton would be proud of this one.
...IS...proud of this one ;)
"link in description".... Guess we'll have to search ;)
My brain is sillier than normal and just thought:
Since the Team up now you guys are 8 Eyes?
Or 4 Eyes looked without glasses which still make it 4 Eyes but Doubled ?

Nice work! I follow April Wilkerson to. ❤️
April is great! Genuinely nice, talented, and super driven.
Who doesn't?
(Hmm. That sounds way creepier than I intended)
I see it and immediately think vinyl album storage.
Sorry, can you run through that again? I spent the video trying to see how many people I knew in the background...
Kudos to both of you, as that is definitely not the most ideal working environment!!
watch at 1/2 speed...you'll notice more and I'll sound drunk
What again no Greg dose he not like to travel or is he resting up for a future staring role?
Greg is in Santa Ynez. Luckily his cousin Craig lives in the new shop.
would have been funny if you put a discount code on the April picture lol. "FoureyesFree" to subscribe to her channel.
So, actually, it was April that built this.....
That pocket screw she added was the cornerstone screw :)
The "plans" for this project suck. I might as well just watch your video on repeat. Kreg really doesn't endear me when they don't provide a plan.
@ 3:05, the SketchUp guy looks annoyed.
haha...I double, triple, and quadruple checked with them many times
useless video without cut list~seems to be a little secrete.
Too much uptalk in this. Can't watch anymore. I don't have a track saw anyways (I want perfectly straight cuts and I believe it is impossible with a circular saw alone). Thanks for this, though.
Hope you don't do this for living
