Its always deeply annoyed me that most media portrays Hades as "evil" when he's essentially one of the chillest Gods. Thank you for your accurate description.

“Another illegitimate child of Zeus” is perhaps the first example of a running gag in mythology
I did not see Kratos on the list
*bhoi*
how to summarise all of Greek mythology:
@@maine6073kratos isn’t a god
@@maine6073 Thats because the name of the God of War is : Ares
My favourite somewhat confusing detail of greek myth, is the fact that while Hades was the god of the dead, he was not the god of death. That was Thanatos
Yea Thanatos was pretty much death himself. He brought the souls to the Underworld, where Hades ruled and had control over
Well, he is god of dead realm and he's Thanato's boss, so he's kinda god of death or something like that
@@tiagoc.fdepaula2930most of the children of nyx are that thing incarnate, with or without a conscious mind, and who they are is strictly tied to what they are. They're more like fantasy fiction elementals than gods and Hades isn't the boss of Thanatos. Hades receives the results of the interactions Thanatos has with the world around him.
Bro, I know that mythological and theological entities are abstract concepts of a culture and not characters with powers. But putting as characters Hades does not reside in Olympus, he has his own kingdom called Hades where the Elysians, the Tartars, Asphodels, the court of the dead, etc. are located. He is the personification of this kingdom just as nix is the personification of the night. Nix is a primordial godess who inhabits the universe itself, being able to reach Hades or Olympus because she is a primordial. Thanatos submits to Hades just as the Olympians submit to Zeus. Nix a Primordial, has bunch of gods as descendants, including hemera, the Titan of daylight and morning, Nix is not a Gothick and her descendants are not dark emos, her children are the universe, she is a primordial.
@@tiagoc.fdepaula2930 Hades is most certainly not the personification of the afterlife, in the myths they quite literally drew lots over who owned what part of reality and it was totally arbitrary.
I have no idea what half of what you are saying is supposed to mean. I have no idea where goths and emos come into this or how they're relevant at all in this context.
Nyx is the personification of night itself and all her children are divine personifications like Hypnos, Thanatos, and Moros, Philotes, and Geras; in contrast the group that contains Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus are not personifications of anything, they gained their roles by random chance.
Olympian gods are gods OF something, the children of Nyx are gods that ARE something.
"He married Hera. His sister"
😬
*greek mythology in a nutshe-*
Thanks Zeus, arguably not his worst work
Greek mythology is just Alabama.
Where is Alabamian Mythology?
Greek god believed "If it is physically possible to enter my penis into this Vagina, then i shall do that. No need to look who the person is, i only need to know that you have a vagina." Basically they were the literal embodiment of "Where there is a Hole, there is a Goal".
even better
Extra shout out to my boy Ares. One of the extraordinary feats of Ares is actually something that he didn't do: rape. Ares never forced himself upon a woman, mortal or divine and together with Aphrodite they represent the concept of consentual love. Also, Ares is often mocked because he's a barbarian (he's from Thrace and not from Greece, which also explains why isnt found too often in literature) and because he often sides with the losers... However, that is intentional by Ares. Whenever a god decides to intervene in a war, Ares intervenes on behalf of the other side to balance things out; caring more about a good fair battle then whatever the outcome is and means. In general Ares might be the most chill god of them all because his main behaviours are NOT raping women and NOT intervening with mortals.
Thanks Ares, very cool
He's also a hunk 😋
He is also fictional so you can portray however you want.
And Percy Jackson portrays him as not so cool, so he's not so cool to many people :(
@@s.m952is he? We don't know that .
We know.
Slight correction: there are 2 pairs of gods that have the same name. The Primordial Chronus(also known as Father Time) and the Titan Kronos. They are not the same. Another pair is the Primordial Eros and God Eros
I think there is a CZcams video about this talking about how originally they were two different gods but overtime they started to blend together
I'm fairly sure it's Cronus (or Kronos) the titan, and Chronos (or Khronos), the personification of time.
1. The video did not say Cronus and Chronos were the same.
2. The primordial Eros and Aphrodite's son Eros are different accounts.
@@yueshijoorya601Are you saying that the two versions of Eros are just two versions rather than two distinct entities? I do believe this to be the case, yes.

@@ThePaintExplainerhello po can we use ur video for our research po ty
The fact that you’ve managed to summarize the complexity of the gods (you picked to perfect stories to reference) and not miss anything… it’s entertaining, interesting, and respectable.
The one thing I feel like should be added on is the variation of the gods from city to city. The general attitude of each god changed so much depending on where you are, another part of mythology that’s interesting to research in itself.
A slight correction is that Hercules is the Roman equivalent to Heracles, which is the original Greek name.
Also fun fact about the name Heracles is that it means glory to Hera
Edit: Just got new info so apparently:
- Heracles was just a nickname, Alcides was his actual name.
- The reason for his name Heracles was mainly because Hera accidentally breastfed him once
- Hera breastfeeding Heracles was the reason why the milky way existed, because Heracles bit her nipples and the milk continued to come
Thank you for the correction!
@@ThePaintExplainer Your welcome! Keep cooking 💪💪💪
He is called glory to hera that because Hera once breastfed him on accident
Heracles was his nickname, his true name was Alcides 😂

Pretty sure your channel's gonna blow up soon, you provide great content kind sir
Edit: ok yes, in some versions Hermes was an Olympian and hades isn’t, please stop filling my notifications
Some inaccuracies ive noticed:
2:08 cronos did not band with *all* of the titans, some of them remained neutral.
3:05 pronounced heracles, hercules was the roman name
4:05 most versions of greek myths say athena's mother was the nymph metis
4:47 this only happened in more "recent" versions by another poet, original versions say medusa was hideous from birth
6:43 most of these are ares's children
8:11 hermes was not an olympian. I know you never said he was, but just wanted to clarify
10:15 hades did not cast mortal souls into tartarus, but rather the fields of punishment
Overall pretty accurate, with just some minor details missed. Keep up the good work!
i thought Hermes was one of the 12 Olympians
@@silvanus.11he is herules is different
@@silvanus.11 Zeus, posidon, hades, demeter, hera, apollo, artemis, hephestus, ares, aphrodite, athena, and dionysus. Hermes is not one of them.
@@maxwell6881 the version I knew and it seems is the most known and popular (although not necessarily most accurate) says that Hades was never an Olympian, always being in the Underworld. Olympian basically reffers to the gods that mainly stayed in Mt. Olympus. And Hermes was one of them
@@maxwell6881 but again, the myths have always had different versions

Correction: Medusa was not raped by Poseidon, she was born a gorgon along with her two sisters. The idea of her being turned into a gorgon after being raped was made up by a Roman play writer hundreds of years after the original myth was created.
Mythology lives and there is no canon. Some myths are vastly inconsistent, even within one source.
@@asin8757 the myth where madusa was raped was not part of Ancient Greek mythology though, it was literally just anti-Greek propaganda made by the Romans to make the Greek gods and those who worshipped them look bad. It was never even part of their mythology at all.
@@stuffynosepatrol it's a good distinction to make, but where do we draw the line? Why not at Mycenean Greek mythology where Poseidon is depicted as head god instead of Zeus? Do we call that original? Why don't we go back to Proto-Indo European Sky Father?
All I'm trying to say is it's important to make distinctions and observations on why an element of a myth might have changed and if it might have had done with a societal or political shift.
Your observation is as valid as Aphrodite losing her symbolism as a war goddes as time went on.
@@asin8757 I say that Greek mythology stops being actual Greek mythology when it stops being Greek.
the reason why the myth of medusa being raped is not valid is because it was not actually part of Greek mythology, it was written by Romans and never actually believed by the ancient Greeks. It'd be kind of like me making up a head canon where Jesus Christ ate a baby, it wouldnt be actually part of Christian mythology because no Christian believes that and it was made up by a non-Christian.
@@stuffynosepatrol You know it's all fake right? Greek mythology isnt above roman mythology, there's no original or factual in mythology. Your passionate gatekeeping of magical stories is strange to say the least, my guy.

Okay not gonna lie it's a good video of the gods/goddesses of Greek mythology.
The only problem I have is that there are some mistakes on what Artemis is the goddess of that don't belong to her like child birth and child care which is of a different goddess. Besides that it all was really well detailed in the 11 minutes of video keep it up

Same thing with Ouranos, I really wish the latin spelling would fade into obscurity already.

You won the algorithm, you have a good thing going, keep going!
4:47 This is just one version made by Ovid, a poet that hated the gods and thus made stories of them doing things that would tarnish their image.
Medusa was actually one of the three gorgon sisters, along with Stheno and Euryale, who were feared monsters.
Mark my words, you have potential. I want to do the same in my native language.
Suggestion: Next do all religions, along with one character that separates from all others, and include atheism as a bonus track
You're a great teacher, subscribed.
i love this format!
I hate that people dismiss Hera as just being Zeus' jealous wife. If you were trapped in an unhappy marriage with an unfaithful and unrepentant husband who you were forced to marry to preserve your dignity and who you can't even take out your frustrations on, wouldn't you behave like that too? What is she supposed to just welcome everything with open arms? She can't even divorce him since she's the goddess of marriage.
And Zeus was a piece of shit too.
Can she k ill him?? 🤔
@@_Minos Nope, she tried orchestrating a rebellion and he shut that down so hard she had to swear to never try anything against him again to be let go. The main reason why she can't take her frustrations out on him.
