      @@tiagoc.fdepaula2930most of the children of nyx are that thing incarnate, with or without a conscious mind, and who they are is strictly tied to what they are. They're more like fantasy fiction elementals than gods and Hades isn't the boss of Thanatos. Hades receives the results of the interactions Thanatos has with the world around him.

    • @tiagoc.fdepaula2930
      @tiagoc.fdepaula2930 Před 4 měsíci +3

      Bro, I know that mythological and theological entities are abstract concepts of a culture and not characters with powers. But putting as characters Hades does not reside in Olympus, he has his own kingdom called Hades where the Elysians, the Tartars, Asphodels, the court of the dead, etc. are located. He is the personification of this kingdom just as nix is the personification of the night. Nix is a primordial godess who inhabits the universe itself, being able to reach Hades or Olympus because she is a primordial. Thanatos submits to Hades just as the Olympians submit to Zeus. Nix a Primordial, has bunch of gods as descendants, including hemera, the Titan of daylight and morning, Nix is not a Gothick and her descendants are not dark emos, her children are the universe, she is a primordial.

    • @JNMeiun
      @JNMeiun Před 4 měsíci +6

      @@tiagoc.fdepaula2930 Hades is most certainly not the personification of the afterlife, in the myths they quite literally drew lots over who owned what part of reality and it was totally arbitrary.
      I have no idea what half of what you are saying is supposed to mean. I have no idea where goths and emos come into this or how they're relevant at all in this context.
      Nyx is the personification of night itself and all her children are divine personifications like Hypnos, Thanatos, and Moros, Philotes, and Geras; in contrast the group that contains Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus are not personifications of anything, they gained their roles by random chance.
      Olympian gods are gods OF something, the children of Nyx are gods that ARE something.

    Extra shout out to my boy Ares. One of the extraordinary feats of Ares is actually something that he didn't do: rape. Ares never forced himself upon a woman, mortal or divine and together with Aphrodite they represent the concept of consentual love. Also, Ares is often mocked because he's a barbarian (he's from Thrace and not from Greece, which also explains why isnt found too often in literature) and because he often sides with the losers... However, that is intentional by Ares. Whenever a god decides to intervene in a war, Ares intervenes on behalf of the other side to balance things out; caring more about a good fair battle then whatever the outcome is and means. In general Ares might be the most chill god of them all because his main behaviours are NOT raping women and NOT intervening with mortals.

    The fact that you’ve managed to summarize the complexity of the gods (you picked to perfect stories to reference) and not miss anything… it’s entertaining, interesting, and respectable.
    The one thing I feel like should be added on is the variation of the gods from city to city. The general attitude of each god changed so much depending on where you are, another part of mythology that’s interesting to research in itself.

    A slight correction is that Hercules is the Roman equivalent to Heracles, which is the original Greek name.
    Also fun fact about the name Heracles is that it means glory to Hera
    Edit: Just got new info so apparently:
    - Heracles was just a nickname, Alcides was his actual name.
    - The reason for his name Heracles was mainly because Hera accidentally breastfed him once
    - Hera breastfeeding Heracles was the reason why the milky way existed, because Heracles bit her nipples and the milk continued to come

    2:08 cronos did not band with *all* of the titans, some of them remained neutral.
    3:05 pronounced heracles, hercules was the roman name
    4:05 most versions of greek myths say athena's mother was the nymph metis
    4:47 this only happened in more "recent" versions by another poet, original versions say medusa was hideous from birth
    6:43 most of these are ares's children
    8:11 hermes was not an olympian. I know you never said he was, but just wanted to clarify

    Imagine getting raped by the vengeful god of the sea in the temple of his brothers' foreheadbaby, only to then be punished by that very goddess, who is supposed to be the goddess of wisdom and rival to Poseidon, and get turned into a gorgon with snakes for hair and a stare that turns anyone into stone. Okay not gonna lie it's a good video of the gods/goddesses of Greek mythology.
    The only problem I have is that there are some mistakes on what Artemis is the goddess of that don't belong to her like child birth and child care which is of a different goddess. Besides that it all was really well detailed in the 11 minutes of video keep it up

    4:47 This is just one version made by Ovid, a poet that hated the gods and thus made stories of them doing things that would tarnish their image.
    Medusa was actually one of the three gorgon sisters, along with Stheno and Euryale, who were feared monsters.

    I hate that people dismiss Hera as just being Zeus' jealous wife. If you were trapped in an unhappy marriage with an unfaithful and unrepentant husband who you were forced to marry to preserve your dignity and who you can't even take out your frustrations on, wouldn't you behave like that too? What is she supposed to just welcome everything with open arms? She can't even divorce him since she's the goddess of marriage.
