One of my favorite aunts had one of these "Wheel of Fortune" Tiger games. I used to get to play it when we'd go over to visit when I was a young kid. She's been dead and buried for around 15 years now. Her house is long gone too, bulldozed in the name of progress. The good memories remain though.
That’s absolutely high-class, high-end Tiger gaming right there. The static screen with static sprite characters and spasmatic sound effects on a washed out screen that was a knockoff of a knockoff from the precursor to Wish is what I could expect from relatives at Christmas. Oh, and second hand from a junk shop.
I had the Tiger Electronics Jeopardy, and it had a similar cartridge system as this. The cartridge did not contain any chips; it only had spots to put up to 5 diodes on it, and the game would check which diodes were present when you turned it on to decide which questions or puzzles would be presented. This meant that all the data for every expansion released (or planned and not released) was already be in the system, and since there was no way to add any new data to the game, there was also a finite limit to how many expansions could be offered.
I actually owned this too, got it from a thrift store, and I fuckin adored it. I got it along with a bop-it tetris crossover thing that was in French (as am Canadian), which I had to learn how to play via trial and error since I do not know French.
As far as Tiger Handhelds go, this looks at least playable. Largely Because the game works with the limited format, and isn't trying to be something it's not
My mom used to have a Slingo! Tiger masterpiece she used to use when pooping. I remember the ominous beep I used to hear when I would accidently bump it awake.
I had one of these when I was in grade school. I actually had some fun with it. I didn't get anything like a gameboy until much later but this worked for me at the time.
I had the jr. Version aimed at younger kids, also had the same cartrige expansions , but I memorized the built in puzzles to the point I could max out my score, since it also had a physical wheel to spin that you could stop anywhere you wanted l.
All things considered, this is probably the most decent thing Tiger ever released. Though I shouldn't be one to judge since I actually enjoyed some of their crappy Game and Watch wannabe stuff as a kid back in the 90's. *sigh* I wasn't allowed to have any proper video game stuff until I could buy them with my own money, which didn't happen until my 13th birthday at the turn of the millennium.
most 90s thing i cna think of in terms of handheld would be "digi game" or egg catcher in early 90s (tho i assume that was common in earlier eras in other countries)
And this has the art from the US series... Couldn't they give us Aussies custom art on the unit for the Aussie version? Or maybe Sony doesn't care about us.

He forgot that after you spin, you must guess a CONSONANT. You can only BUY vowels, and you must have at least $250 to do so.
