      How do you find the size of this when you are out wheeling matt? I am looking into the darche equivalent for my 105series but am concerned about the length and thickness of them when in tight tracks.

      Hi Matt this awning requires at least two person to install unlessyou want them attached all the time. Did you find a quick release awning bracket for this 270 degree awning? cheers mate

      @MadMatt4WD  Před 3 lety

      @@chingboie Hey, Yes it does but it's not hard to do. I have done it on my own a couple of times. I left it on most of the time and had it mounted onto 2 bolts on the top of the rack so although it needed one spanner it was really easy to fit and remove. I never fitted quick release.

    I’m surprised in this new model they’re still going with a pole bag.. they should have just replicated the Rhino rack batwing with their integrated pole system, seriously the best thing ever having everything packed up into the frame

    G’day Matt,
    One more tip. Take replacement awning pole hinge inserts, can buy these online fairly cheap.
    A freak storm came through the blue mountains one afternoon and almost sent the awning over my truck, it was tied down! That storm came and went so fast! Anyway, one of the black plastic hinge inserts snapped. Didn’t have a spare at that time but still managed to use the awning. I always carry them now, cheap insurance and easy to replace with a basic tool set.
    Love my foxwing, best awning I’ve had.
    Good video, cheers scott

    I do all those except tip 3. If the wind gets under the awning because there wasn't enough weight in the bag and the pole falls out or moves you will break the pivot point which is a costly and nuisance repair.

    11th tip is to drill some drain holes in the bottom of the plastic pole feet. When it rains, water can collect in the pole as it runs down and contacts the twist joint.

    • @MadMatt4WD
      @MadMatt4WD  Před 4 lety

      @@MadMatt4WD Try living in Northern Europe Matt. When you close the poles it's like a piston and the water sprays out all over the place. If it stays wet in there the poles go all white and fuzzy

    Hey Matt... the bowline isn’t the best knot to use on synthetic rope. You’d be better off with a double figure 8 - just as strong, easy to tie, and your rope will last longer. Cheers!
