Excellent review! I run one of these on the Passenger side of my 120 Prado mounted to a Pioneer Tradie rack. Have had it a couple of years now, upgraded my kit to include the full wall kit as well as the the wall tent. I read in a forum that the 4wheeldrive super center lights fit in the slot of the spreader bars. Tried it and they fit. Slide them in from the ends in the underside of the spreader bars channel and forget . One thing less to pack away. I have plenty of cover working from the rear of the Prado for meal prep and access to the 60L fridge on long camps. Only thing I have to fix is the awning cover , when flipped back it covers the solar panels slightly on the Roof Rack. Maybe a couple of eyelets to pull the cover back over the awning sail & back to the poles or guy rope eyelets? Other than that cant fault the 30 second wing awning. By far a worthwhile purchase.

Nice honest and thorough review mate 👍 I've been looking at these for a long time now and have always been hesitant because there are so many types and prices - you've the choice easy! 👍👌 Now just to save the $ 😀 I rarely use my king's awning because it's a tedious setup and tear down but this would get around that issue. The cheaper end of this style also seem flimsy and need 2 people to set it up and would always be worried about wind so wouldn't be used much. Great work bud - like your style 👍👍

Great review on the awning. I have been getting through all your videos and haven't found a bad one yet. Great job
I am looking to buy one for a similar setup on a 1800 canopy. Is your the 2.7m awning and how does the overhang 900mm from the front bracket hold up ? ARB told me it would brake the awning and I can only fit the 2.1m one.
I'm sure I could beef it up a bit or some how add another bracket but i just wonder how yours has been and if you have the 2.7m one too?

    • @WildTouring

China knock off of the Ostrich wing. Big question about the 320 gram canvas claim, up close it looks and feels like a thin cheap tent material, that extra arm you have to put up is going to stretch it and wear through, but like you said comes off easy when you need to replace it.

And secondly the supplied brackets snapped first time it was pulled out. Made my own now. Pretty heavy at 26kgs to. Like I said in the video. I can't compare it to anything because I don't physically have anything else to compare It to. But on paper it's similar design, similar weight, similar length. But Alucab provides 10sqm of shade Vs 30 second awning 12sqm. And Alucab is over double the price (according to first listing that popped up on Google). Did you buy this or was it provided to you to review?

Paid full retail price for the awning. Not that it would matter- I don't do 'cash for comment' even when I am given gear.

@@WildTouring I noticed a comment on here you replied about the original brackets having a fault? What happened. I was super keen on this awning recently however I came across a couple of not so nice reviews. However I’ve seen a couple of your videos and trust you are unbiased.

Yeah when I first bought it and took it away on a trip the corrugations caused a bracket to crack. I was pretty disappointed it failed so early. I could have repaired it myself but I decided to make contact with them (they had no idea I had a CZcams channel). They said they were aware the brackets were an issue and already had a revised design that they sent to me free of charge- really good customer service.
Anyway, the revised bracket is the standard bracket that they’ve been sold with for a couple of years now and has held up really well for the past 60,000kms.
The awnings still perfect and was getting very regular use. The bags looking a bit tattered from being rubbed up against trees on tight tracks. But I’d planned to fit it to the new canopy I’ve had built, but they offered me their new 2100mm awning that was a better size for my canopy so I’ve taken them up on that.
For the money I reckon they’re the Best Buy. For similar coin the darche offers more coverage, but isn’t as solid and is more fiddly to erect.

Supa Peg has peggable feet poles and a curved roof rafter for awnings. Check them out for those things
