I love how you stalk your pray.
Do you have a more in depth article about this topic Brett??
Did you read the book he recommended?
Why is there nothing written?
i have this addiction to watching how-to videos on youtube.
+AvShalom Hillel shut down your internet. it realy works!
+Floda Reltih that's overdoing it. Download some website blocker on block CZcams and reddit
+AvShalom Hillel Am I the only one who got this? lol
AvShalom Hillel well you're fucked
Its actually called mental masterbation
I was a user of Dip tobacco for 17 years and have been cold turkey for 6 days. I don't feel the actual physical addiction anymore but the mental battle with habits you speak of are still there. After a big dinner waiting for my reward...the last 2 hours of my shift. seems that my favorite times to dip are still having me riffling through my pockets for a can that isn't there.
What I love about AoM is that, since the founders are very Catholic-minded, they're not afraid of, and strongly encourage, speaking on porn addictions as "yeah, guys are addicted, it's B-A-D, and we are confident that we can fix it". Many manly blessings to AoM!
I believe he is a Mormon
New video is up. It's on changing habits. Please share!
That's a mustache that even Tom Selleck would be proud of.
Agreed, that's what I said that Tom Selleck would be proud of it, not that it was better. lol.
lol! Your manliness is secure!
Art of Manliness My habit is watching youtube instead of doing work. i need help lol. How do i break it????
+ibs Haha I was thinking the same thing!
I am a heterosexual single female, but I find your videos very useful and empowering! They have made me more organized and independent! Thank you!
Did you get his Mustache?
No. But give me time. Im working on it. lol
Me too :)

So you’re just a woman? No need to label yourself with unnecessary titles.
You can dew it.
Mist be true
I had a baja blast reading your comment
Art of Manliness makes some weird choices for background music. I noticed a few other comments about music besides this one. This background music sounds like I'm watching a promo for a kids' summer camp or something.
+Adam Robitaille I don't know about you, but for me it's relaxing and, in a weird way, it makes me more focused on the video. Maybe that is the point of it. Or maybe Brett just has a more unique taste in music. XD
@@vladivanovici510 He's using the CZcams Audio Library. Kinda limited options. 😅
Agree
The help and tips Brett puts out there for every man is something every man should know and be aware of. It is also, in my opinion, something every woman should know as well. Brett should be a proud person, as he serves as an example to us all, with the great advice and better mustache.
That is an epic 'stache!
This should help me get over my addiction to social media notifications.
Thanks brolaf.
+Anthony James I made sure to comment to test your addiction to Google+ notifications.
arande3 Good idea.
***** kek
***** That would be a good idea, but I don't have friends and all I do is shitpost.

Informational and professional, yet inspiring as well. I loved it! Your channel is a great source of inspiration and you're a true role model that this generation need more than ever!
You have a great channel ! I don't know why your videos just came up in my YoutTube searches recently. I subscribed after just watching a couple of your videos. They are very helpful for so many common issues that we face. Keep up the good work !!
I completely agree with you. It's something that isn't brought up enough! So many men have fallen into this terrible habit.
Thank you for all the Manly content you have been providing for years...A Big Fan, fo sho!
I've been following the site and getting the newsletter for some time;it's great that you have videos now, and this one is particularly good. Congratulations; keep the good work!
One of the manliest channels on CZcams by far. Keep up the good work :D
Oh my god. When you watch this with thought, it makes a lot of sense. The practical examples were very helpful, thanks!
You're full of it. There is nothing that wrestling a bear can't cure.
But seriously, love your videos, your articles, and everything you do. Every video has helped me in some way. Keep it up!
got given this book for christmas. About a third of the way through, it truly is fascinating!
Good stuff, Brett. We're reading this book for our book club this month, and I loved your synopsis.
I'm not a man, but I watch some of your videos anyway because they just make so much sense to me! Like the thing you talked about where you experiment with what works to satisfy the craving for the bad habit - it just clicked in my brain! Thank you :)
Thanks Brett. You're doing a brilliant service for the few of us aspiring to become Men.
A great channel, with some great advice. Thank you for the wisdom. Looking forward to seeing more from you.
Very well said. Thank you Art of Manliness for showing me a genius way to break my habit. I need to find someone to hold me accountable.
I might need to re watch this a few times but it's a great start!
Wow, this was very interesting! I'll be sure to check out the book. Thanks for sharing!

That was some good stuff. We've all got some things we could work on. Thanks and keep them coming.
Ótimo vídeo. Vou começar a mudar alguns hábitos hoje mesmo!
Your videos are educational... Im looking forward to more of your videos and podcasts
Thank you for teaching this awesome technique, really apprectiate it!!
I enjoyed this one, Brett! That "habit-hacking" sounds like a very versatile attack method.
So helpful! Thanks for the video. I'll definitely share this one.
Thank you...... really you helped me by getting over my bad habits and change it to he good habits. It was difficult but still I did I. !

Hey, ended up on your channel after watching some Mark Rippetoe videos. Your videos are great, many stuff which is worth to think about it. Thank you!
Wow a lot of good stuff on this channel
Almost 6 years now, 486,292 views and only 65 dislikes. Nice stats and oh yeah, nice video!
Great video! Thank you!

We can always trust a man with a huge collection of books.

Great video Mr. McKay!
very good presentation.
We had a few spelling mistakes in the title cards, so we fixed them. Sorry about that. We'll make sure it doesn't happen again.
Very good tips.
Wow. That was a great video
Appreciate the video!
Continue the great work! thumbs up
So good, thank you! 😀
Thank you for this, I will finally be able to stop my soda habit after following thus video. Also thank you for the Web site it has helped me out me out about through life
I miss the old days of the internet... thanks for the great video
Such a good advice!
Interesting. There is also an other way which is pretty similar but involves more 'choice' and less 'habit'. I'm not saying it's a better way but it's an other possibility.
When you feel or experience the 'cue', in stead of changing the bad routine for another 'better' routine, you can also change it for a moment of 'stillness' (or some kind of short meditative moment). In this moment, taking enough time to do 'nothing' and getting aware of yourself and of the moment you're in, you can than make a choice what to do in the following moment or time. It involves a little more consciousness and a little less routine.
I work a lot at home and I have on chair I can only sit in to do nothing at all (no music, no reading, ... just staring out of the window). I'm gonna sit in it right now!
Thanks for the interesting vids!
this can really help I have been trying to stop smoking thanks a lot
Thanks for making these video's Brett Mckay! I'm sharing them with my guy friends :)
Brett i love your beard man! nice vid! keep it going....AND MANLY!
Thanks alot man
There's more than one way to skin a cat I guess. My flossing habit formation was nothing like what you described from that book, but I like what you're doing. Generally very supportive!
Great vid! In Mandigo's 'Greatest Salesman in the World' the first and primary scroll is on habit, it's well worth a read if you want more on this.
thank you
Excellent video and I loved the book! What's with the background music though??
Very useful video. I already knew the article on the site and this is a very good video version of it. Personally, i didn't like the music too much, i found it a bit too cheesy but that's got nothing to do with the valuable information presented.
Your so awesome, new role model :D
I've started making a conscious effort to be able to do things with both hands (where I would normally only be good at it with one). Anything liketurning taps on, or using the opposite hand to hold/open a drink bottle etc. Dunno if it serves any real purpose other than just being interesting and a bit satisfying once you get good at it. 10/10 would recommend
By no way am I exempt from habitual behaviours (which should go without saying), I just find it impressive how difficult it can be to break or form a habit.
Thanks.
wow, your videos are really cool. Thanks a lot!
Good video.
I strongly suggest to add this info in the description as default. Those kind of question woill never end...
Nice video Brett. What camera do you use? The quality is superb.
Canon Rebel T3i with a 22mm lens.
Will do
The best movie product placement ever. Do the Dew.
Sir, i salute you
I like the shot of you stalking the Diet Dew. My paternal ancestor used to stalk Diet Seven-UP. When I would hunt down cans of the stuff, I would always regret it because the taste was not a reward. Yech.
Thank You :)!
nice product placement!
great 👍
Good video; What is this ultra catchy tune playing?
Lists everything I just realize I do without even thinking about it. Holy shit, I think I might have to listen to this closer.
Thanks Professor Girafalez!
I wish AoM started making videos again.
God Bless you guys for this
The first phrase got me thinking for like 5 minutes
How can you create new habits like, studing more often or working out more regualy?
Watching while playing the same videogame ive been playing for over 3 years
This talk deserved better than the elevator-music backing track. When a web page has a horrible wallpaper, I have tools to rid myself of the visual plague. With audio, it's not so easy.
Phase cancellation. Easy principle, difficult to implement.
On topic, I recommend for reading Dr Kitson's book: "How to use your mind", it's free for download at Gutenberg's Project (no copyright). This book has an interesting approach on habit in learning.
Aside from the information, I really enjoyed the background song...lol
Thanks Freddy Mercury!
so i'm not the only one :v
I thought he was too
Nice stash.
This song is so catchy! :D
