Good question - let me start with my philosophy; SAVE FOR VACATION - DON'T SAVE WHILE ON VACATION. Financially plan ahead so that you can enjoy the ride. My estimated cost was approximately $5k, I did not keep track of my expenses. Plan on $150 a night for hotel, $50 a day for meals, $4/gal of gas. I got 48 miles/gal for my trip. Hence, you can get a good idea of your expected cost by doing a little math knowing where you will be going. Please ask if you have other questions.
