I got a chuckle from the Mrs. and her thumbs down on poutine. I agree and believe the only way one can choke down the concoction is to be hung over, starving and lacking any food sources other than left over gravy, french fries and cheese. Wait a minute, that's how the recipe was inspired. Never mind. This is a great overview of Jasper and Banff, very informative. Thanks!

This is great. From 2008-2012 I worked as a tour guide doing multi-day bus tours from Vancouver to the Rockies and back and I cant believe how much things have changed and how good I had it back then. I now live in Australia and am going back in July for a spontaneous trip i decided on only a couple weeks ago and cant believe I cant just wing it like im used to 😂😭💀 great content, friends ❤❤❤ i hope i can figure out a way to get to Moraine Lake. Ive been all over the world and it truly is one of the most remarkable, accessible places on earth

I'm English, I live in England, UK.
I once visited Banff, ( Long time ago Sept, 1978 ) enjoyed my visit to Canada.
I caught a Flight from Seattle, U.S.A. to Calgary,
then Bus to Banff. Few days later caught a Bus
    to Jasper.
I'm sorry for being boringly nostalgic.
    Anyway, Peace to all !!

We went to Glacier this past summer and fell in love with it (It currently ranks #1 for us. Bamf and Jasper are very high on our list to visit. I have LOVED your videos on these parks.
For those who take time to read the comment section,. Matt and Cheryl's advice on these videos and their guides is GOLD. We have used their advice for several trips (Yellowstone/Grand Teton)(The Utah Parks)&(Dakotas/Glacier). Every one of them was perfect in large part from the advice they gave. Of course, they are going to promote their business, but from someone who has utilized their work in helping others have a fantastic adventure, I cannot recommend them more

Wow! What a nice compliment. Thanks so much. We really do put our heart and soul into our guides. We would love it if you would leave a review on our website. You can pick which park, and scroll to the bottom of the page. Thanks in advance. wereintherockies.com/store/

This video gave me many golden tips for my trip to Banff next month. I’ll lead a group of 15, including a few teenagers. I made a trip plan based on my experiences in Banff & Jasper in 2019, but I’m making some changes to my trip plan after this video, like taking a shuttle to Lake Louise instead of driving four cars, which avoids the vast headaches we might have. And the fancy bus and BBQ trip. Thank you very much!

Hmmmm.. I live in Alberta and have visited both Banff and Jasper national parks multiple times during all seasons and have never had parking issues anywhere at any Banff or Jasper attractions.
Oh and btw … poutine is not an Alberta creation, it’s a Quebec invention… either way, it’s much loved throughout Canada. It’s better than ‘beaver tails’ IMO

We've done the trip multiple (well 5x's now) from Oregon. Two with our RV (trailer/truck), one tent/car camping, last two with hotels. Twice with a dog.
Crossing the border with dog. Need original Rabies Certificate signed by veterinarian who gave the shot (FWIW, this means no young puppies). Rabies Certificate required regardless of if your dog is a pet or service dog. Be aware that the border staff, either direction, could require a health certificate. Usually won't if animal looks healthy. So far we've just gotten one to CYA. But health certificate costs have jumped (locally anyway), and not sure about doing so again.
Dogs in Canada, in general and National Park trails: For the most part dogs are allowed on the trails, and other than restaurants/food stores. There are specific sensitive endangered wildlife areas where dogs/pets are forbidden, service animals designation does not matter.
Service dogs. The Banif/Jasper National Parks are within Alberta Provenances. Unlike the states, the provenances set the rules for service animals. Alberta has a service dog certification that even visitors can be required to have. That said what this means is that if in a venue that the proprietorship/staff request this certification and you cannot produce it, when asked to remove your service dog, you must comply. That said a marked behaving service dog they won't ask. Hotels can, and will, require you to use a pet friendly room, even for service dogs, so reserve so in advance. Some hotels do not put their pet rooms on the various 3rd party reservation sites, must call directly to get one. What we do is make the reservation, note we are bring a small service dog. If the reservation issue is true, then we will get an email, at which point we call directly, make the appropriate reservation, then cancel the 3rd party reservation (we do not make reservations that cannot be cancelled). No, I do not have one of the Canadian provenances service dog certifications.
Best route ever from Oregon. Go into Canada through the Idaho panhandle (2023). Best route ever. Eugene -> Bonnes Ferry (where we stayed at a small lodge) -> Kingsgate border crossing -> Banff. We saw black bear, grizzly, adult and juvenile bald eagles, in the national park just north of the border, along the road. Another good route is to take is through Glacier National Park Going to the Sun road, but we did that before the time entry reservations (2019). Then you take the border crossing just east of Glacier/Waterton. Note, check when these crossings are open, as not only are they seasonal, but closed on weekends. 2023 we came back into the states via the Montana (Waterton/Glacier) crossing. 2019, we crossed into Canada with that crossing. 2019 we came back through BC border crossing, biggest mistake ever. Even on a Sunday it was packed. Took us 3 hours with a car (if we'd had the RV, could have taken the big rig lane, which once we got there, would have been an hour faster).
Our 2019 trip was just for Banff/Jasper (with last minute decision to drive Going to the Sun Glacier). 2023 trip was Banff/Jasper/Waterton/Yellowstone/Tetons late May early June, bear (and any other wild animal) sighting trip. We saw lots of bears, including current year babies. As many times as we've been to all these parks in the last 45+ years (usually late August/early September) we've not seen a lot of bear. Other wildlife, sure. Hiking in the spring was limited, because of trail conditions and bear management closures (and just because I can, not risking my medical equipment to chance unsafe wildlife encounters, and it isn't bears. Elk, etc., really, really, despise dogs.)

I’ve thought about putting together a little travel vlogger group sometime where we could meet occasionally and discuss challenges, etc.

Yea the poutine fries are okay to try once which we did in the Niagara area which were good but probably don’t want to make that part of your diet, just like the popular Caesar drink shiv is a popular type of there Bloody Mary , which was fun , but uses Clamato juice here in the states which they may use also 🧐😊

We stayed outside of Banff Townsite in Canmore. It's a little cheaper. The farther away you stay, the cheaper it will get but you'll have to travel farther.
