      Did you check out my video from last week? czcams.com/video/JoO0e5UKVKc/video.html
      That explains the rest of my fuel system repairs. I filmed and did it all at the same time, just had to break it up into shorter videos. My truck starts way easier and runs much better now. My old lines were completely hacked together and allowed alot of air in he fuel system and the pressure would bleed off. Now it is 👍Thanks fir checking out my chanel and good luck with your project. Any questions just ask.

    I have a similar type sump pump on my truck as well but it only has one hole in the middle of it to bolt it up. I believe it's a Beans sump pump. I know that was a lot of work you had to go through to get that thing put together. But all in all you did a great job. Keep up the great work that you're doing. You're always an inspiration to me and they're always giving me more ideas with projects of my own. Can't wait to see the next video please stay safe and healthy and God bless.🙏🏻👍

      I looked at the beans sump, supposed to be one of the higher quality sump kits. I didn't like the price compared to the one I ordered, so hopefully mine holds up well. All in the fuel system repairs, installing the 3 way valves, all new lines, and the sump was around 10 hours of work. I condensed into two youtube videos under 30 minutes each. Thanks for watching! Appreciate you and God bless.

    Great job fixin on blue nose! Loved that truck since you introduced her to the chanel. Wish my seat was in that kind of condition. Good looking old truck, she is lucky to be owned by someone that takes the time to fix and modify on her.

    I have a 7.3 idi. I put in new glow plugs and glow plug controller with new relay. I even bypassed it by watching your video and it still cold starts bad. What an I missing. If I start it with ether it’ll run all day long after no problem

    • @worthshop
      @worthshop  Před rokem

      I would suspect air getting in one of the fuel lines and bleeding off the fuel pressure so it looses prime. It still starts with starting fliluid which gets the fuel pump to push fuel up and keep it running. Start checking around return lines for moisture. Right after you start it press the Schrader valve on fuel filter housing see if fuel comes out or air. If it is air you need to track down the source.

    • @worthshop
      @worthshop  Před rokem

      @@breonshaw2717 Is the controller coming on, making noise? You said above that you replaced glow plugs and controller, so I assumed all that was good. If the controller is not coming on you may have some wiring wrong.

    Thanks for all the great Videos you make I have learned a lot from you. I'm curious how you gonna approach getting your fuel gauge working? When I got my old 86 350 idi selector bypass done I was looking at her scratching my head. I decided to sleep on it and picked up the holy idi repair manual and read if you wanted your rear tank level to read with a 6 port selector valve with the valve bypassed you could jumper a wire from 4 to 5 wire position and for front tank position jumper wire 1 to 2 . I hope your luck is better than mine because that did not work out in my case for some reason. Probably cause from day 1 I had to replace much of the wiring harness as a greenhorn mechanic. I'm proud to say these good old diesels will turn you into a pretty good mechanic!

      I actually copied Peg leg from zip ties and bias plies on the fuel gage. I left the stock selector valve in place to switch the tank fuel level wires. I have not glued the ports shut to avoid dirt and contamination from getting in the fuel ports yet, but will be in the future. Thanks for watching.

    You mention before of a pusher pump not a puller. What fuel pump do you use? I have 1991 idi. Having fun with it. Thanks for your work

    • @worthshop
      @worthshop  Před rokem

      Not sure what you are referring to. I have ran a Facet duralift seachoice pump in the past. Currently have stock mechanical pumps on all my trucks. They seem to be the most reliable in my experience. Takes longer to prime if you run out of fuel, but I can deal with that. Thanks for watching.

  • @daviddickinson2676

    Aspie, many of the fuel pick up lines are situated above the bottom of tank so as to avoid sucking water from the tank. How do you deal with this problem?

    • @worthshop
      @worthshop  Před rokem +1

      Hopefully I do not get water in my tank! I run my waste motor oil through a heater and into a centrifuge that is supposed to remove any moisture before I put it into my truck. Have my rear tank with the sump running through a second filter water separator prior to my tank selector valve also. Hoping not to have issues. But I just installed the sump recently, so can't say that it is fail proof until it stands the test of time. Thanks for watching.
