What is up my mates!!! You already know what we're doin! Today we're gonna be discussing the legendary emo/alternative/punk band called Basement from the beautiful land of Ipswich.
Consisting of Alex Henery, Andrew Fisher, James Fisher, Ronan Crix, and Duncan Stewart, Basement has been crafting emotionally-dense songs for over a decade. Well, if you count their break. But the point is, they been at this for a long time.
Over the years their sound has shifted and grown, but they've been able to maintain and not alienate their core fanbase, despite these changes. They're one of the few bands I've watched over the years, that has blossomed so intensely well.
I'm not gonna lie, I Wish I Could Stay Here and Colourmeinkindness will always be my favorite works by them, but I really do love everything they've created thus far.
I can't stress enough how great Promise Everything and Beside Myself are, seriously don't overlook those.
And their EP's Songs About the Weather and Further Sky are mad underrated dawg.
    Basement forever.
Hope everyone has an outstanding weekend. -Nate

Oversized. It was the first Basement song I ever heard and it’s always been a favorite. It’s absolutely beautiful and the bass line is just gorgeous in the second verse. It’s pretty much perfection.

Heard Basement for the first time when they played with Title Fight. Never has a support band absolutely sold me from the moment they started playing, and from then, I got equally obsessed.
I was chuffed to meet Andrew at a turnover show who he was doing merch for, and he was the most approachable and friendly guy.

Thank you for making this, Nate. Basement is one of my favorite bands of all time and a band that means a lot to me. I was introduced to them by one of my best friends back in the spring of 2018 with their Audiotree performance of Promise Everything. That same friend passed away suddenly later that same spring and this band was the last band we ever talked about before his death (I think we were last talking about Aquasun and their My Favorite Game cover). His passing messed me up so bad and what got me through it all was me going back and discovering I Wish I Could Stay Here and Colourmeinkindness (I was also in the process of relocating to the west coast). I remember listening to Early Grey and breaking down because that's more or less how I felt and even what I did (Hell, I revisited my friend's old place postmortem one day just to look his apartment window, hoping that he would be there, but the lights were out...for good this time).
Idk if I can choose a favorite song or album though because all of the songs popped into my life when I needed them the most and perfectly reflected how I was feeling at the time. Even their album Beside Myself came out when I was dealing with all these sudden drastic life changes of 2018. The band got me through everything and their music was there for me when I was at my lowest. So I can't definitively say which song or album is my favorite because all of them are my favorite.
I owe this band a lot.

Basement is special because they are genuine and talented songwriters who put on no front or façade. Their performances both on recording and live are filled with raw unbridled energy that can't be matched. I fell in love with them when I saw them play support for The Front Bottoms in 2017. Also saw them the following year with Elder Brother on a small US album release tour for Beside Myself. Truly incredible band and I'm so glad you finally made a vid for them. Have a good one Nate!

After finding basement off of TikTok when covet was blowing up on the app, I kept seeing videos with the song, and I got hooked. I replayed the song a million of times by now, and I’ve started listening to their other albums/songs and i absolutely love their music. They seem like such cool people based off the videos I’ve seen on them. All of their music is so addictive. The vocals, the electric guitar, the drums, everything about the band is amazing.

Australia didn't get many emo bands touring back then so it meant so much to the fans who attended. I still have the flyer advertising the show to this day as a reminder of how much it impacted me.
