minor correction for ppl looking to make a nova sorc: ***telekenesis is absolutely not a 1 pt wonder for this build.*** i recommend maxing this to help out with energy shield
Also that with enough +skills, energy shield won't require a full 20pts to reach its max effectiveness.
Fun build honestly
These suggestions seem to be after you complete hell and have a sunder charm.
For those who don’t have a reliable group at start of ladder, suggestions for characters who can go solo when needed or group well when they can find it may be helpful for rapidly getting through the game.
For example, blizzard sorc would likely struggle with Anya quest or Baal waves before the sunder charm and before strong merc. Orb/hydra is probably a better starter for those without a group to get through the game first pre-sunder charm.
Lightning fury has similar issues pre sunder charm and maybe poison + charged strike + valk would make you more independent pre-sunder charm.
I went Bone Spear Necro last season and had an absolute blast with it. This one is still up in the air.

What do you think about this idea. Start off with a cry barb until you get you and your party to +/- level 70-80 then switch to berserk with the new rune word hustle in the off hand for +1 fana aura combine that with oath / unbeding will on the main hand for good damage and maybe add hustle armor for speed and temper rune word for fire res. and just go nuts in trav farming.
Don't know if that would be a good strategie.

I've decided to start season 3 as a summon necro and I'm going to try a Hustle sword + Lawbringer sword on an Act V frenzy merc since he will mostly be in close with the summons and the summons will thus benefit from the the added damage, AR, and IAS of the Fanaticism aura.
Interesting idea! Do you think the cleansing aura might work against your summons and merc though, with the push back?
@@krayziegamer9514 I'm assuming that the cleaning aura, should I decide to use the new Cure Runeword, would only serve to help my summons, my merc, and myself.
Lawbringer is sanctuary aura which is push back. It would not help you.

@Long strider Wow. I can't believe I said cleansing...lol. I said cleansing while thinking sanctuary for some insane reason. I just know the push back is frustrating for zeal, so I figure it would be that for any melee character.

why did you not include the assasin? trapsin has always been a pretty nice starter and with the coming changes transitions super well into the lategame
I did FoH Paladin season 2 so this time I'm gonna try Zerkbarb. with Hustle and Bulwark + tri-healing A2 merc he should be fine stomping through nightmare.
gonna stop him at hell trav and farm those counsil until I get enough for whole mosaic for MA assassin whom I'll main later on for the rest of season.
assuming that I can decide which NL character I have to delete first to progress to season 3...

I’m sure it’s gonna be a very common start, but I’m gonna start trapsin into dual mosaics MA Sin. I’m gonna do a weird blades of ice, Phoenix strike, tiger strike build I’m 100% gonna be stacking every type of charge just be kicking around.

I’m struggling to figure out which direction to go with my Paladin on my first time playing. I’m doing Zeal with Holy Fire aura in Act 3 and it’s just a bit boring and mana is a little rough when using Shield Charge for movement.
Switch to blessed hammer and use concentration aura. That's probably the #1 pally build. When you get to hell farm keys for torches then make a 2nd pally for smiting.
what about Sin ? enemy resistance works with traps, crescent moon? tons of versatility to survive, and has corpse explosion.

You missed the trapsin, I always found that the trapsin is a great ladder starter. Why? Because you can start her with fire traps in Normal and Nightmare, and then dual spec with lightning to get you through the immunes in Hell until you get your Sunders.

Id like to shout out a couple of builds. Trap Assasssin is super boneheaded and strong and does well with crappy gear. Also, I love me a wind druid on ladder reset, Hurricane is super safe and easy and is a natural damage hybrid with tornadoes for when you first venture into Hell difficulty.
Where do you like to farm once your trapper is like 75?

I Use FOH works fine for clean cs fastly works also on baal but carefully at souls at sorc you should orb its faster like blizzard
I’m starting with a Javazon. Titans, viper magi and a spirit shield can all be farmed pretty easy in nightmare and early hell. Been practicing quickly building up the last couple of days and it’s an easy build to level with.
I've done a Javzon and it was definitely a good non sorc choice. Cows also happen to be one of my favourite MF spots, so that works out well.
Did you level bows and switch or javs all the way?
@@CatchingVibes-et9zv early game used poison and then plague javelins. then I respeced at about level 35 if I recall into lightning Fury and charged strike.

Trap assassin is one of the easiest builds to start ladder with. Use Wake of Fire through all of normal. Once you get to level 30 or so you use your respec and do lightning sentry. With the synergy changes to death sentry, you really only need to put one point in that trap. That frees up a lot of points to max out all synergies for lightning sentry. Then you can max out fire blast and put points into the synergies for that skill. I've started ladders with trap assassins for years. With all of that being said, I'm going to change it up and use a bone spear/bone spirit/corpse explosion necro this ladder.

Thx to buffing it with -%enemy res for her traps you probably just need crescent moon to rule.
I usually do a sorc but I should switch, Possibly assassin, it's super strong in versatility.
I'm gonna play a bowazon, by virtue of it being fun, a bunch of bugs have been fixed plus hustle looks like a very decent option both as weapon as well as armor.
Double hustle will be fun running around the world

Assassin, the changes really sealed that for me.
What about a ten minute video that runs quickly through the twenty or so viable ladder start builds? Also some that show team roles.
pre sunder charm phase of the game, blizzard/firewall work is going to be the best possible speed/farmer/dmg in the game. The next fastest speed is going to paladin/assassin, but you wont be able to farm quickly without teleport. nothing else compares except maybe the barb going just for travincal from the wp. But if we are talking going from 0 on a wipe, to hell and farming for gear quickly, nothing is going to even remotely compete with a blizz sorc with or without a sunder charm, and if you dont have a sunder charm then going blizz/firewall

Blizz sorc didn't get a "huge nerf" still plenty viable with plenty of dmg.

The cold mastery is reduced to 1/5 efficacy on broken immunities now. Just like conviction, instead of being broken.

Lightning has more synergies, so it takes higher level to get to max damage output and you don't have any points left over for anything else such as energy shield like you do with nova. Also nova fcr breakpoint is at 105 and lighting is 117. I haven't done lighting in years, but I think from what I remember nova better with mid and budget gear, lighting better with godly gear.
Still cant decide what to choose on HC. Sorc or Palladyn? What would be more "noob friendly"? I havent played with Palladyn yet and almost finished hell with nova sorc but died way too many times

All u need to do is get to norm baal then baal til 45 and u can legit respect into whatever ur heart wants and Telenor thru entire nm and if ur res permits it. Tele baals to 70
My favorite part of d2 sorc hc is
Llv 40 to 44 nm countess. Ull find insight spirit runes and such
Then 44 to around 50 I use orb and mf in a2 tombs
Sooooo many mobs in such a small place its littered with charms and items and is slept on
Then if u find duri rinse and repeat
At 50 I move to chaos for more exp and d drops Hella good shit in nm
Then 60 yo 70 I do baals in other ppls games so I can get the experience and baal drop by myself

I'm prob in major minority but I'm trying Barb. I just came off a sorc in s2 and already have an 88 paladin. I liked how tankier the pally was over sorc. Making summon necro next ladder

is javazon really the best ladder start cow farmer? I feel like people aren't taking into consideration the time it takes to walk to tristram to grab wirts leg. Sorc can get the leg and open cows and be halfway done with it by the time zon even opens the portal
Leg time is true. If your playing solo online though, in my opinion, your not playing online right. Online is intended for party play. So yes, sorc gets leg.
How could you forget the Trapsin as a starter?
I actually never played a druid, so I might go for the Tornado druid build. Not sure yet tho. I'd play Sorc but I always fail to position myself and the overall squishiness of the sorc feels bad
Tornado druid is a perfect starter. With cold + physical damage you can clear almost everything. Also a great HC starter because of cyclon armor
Hurricane is one the best skills for safety and easy of use, I love it for Ladder reset.

Last season I did Summon until 3pc trang set. Then switched to poison nova and farmed pits/good terror zones. Traded up for everything I needed before I was 90. Got burnt out at 92. Gonna try for 95+ this time.
Which did you enjoy more in hindsight? The summoner or poison necro? - I'm not enjoy bone skills so far..
@@DV8N1 Poison for sure. Once you have 3pc trang, sunder and a decent White want I could cruise around almost anywhere. Then go ~300mf Pit farming easily.

You missed Trapsin. Its super safe and is an easy trip to Hell Countess where you can farm up the new, totally broken, Mosaic. My bet is MA sin will be top of the ladder S3 once people figure out COT2, PS2 and TS/DT. With fade, claw block, and finishers never missing you get a 3hp/vit chassis that does everything a nova sorc and smiter do.
How is Mosaic broken, you need two of them for the true potential, but that also means giving up on a potential Cleansing aura, or faceted claws.

@@hushamfusion its about the skill damage. 100% means you can dump lvl 3 charges from multiple skills into dragon Talon 5 times per click. and the refresh means you will stay at max charge permanently. the numbers are as high or higher than other S tier builds for 2x gul which is why I am calling them broken.
@@bobnewkirk7003 Yet like I said, you are still giving up the lower resist and cleansing from Plague (BiS for Phoenix Strike), the static field and crushing blow from Stormlash, the insane damage reduction from Stormshield, etc. It's a nice alternative, and very powerful, but not at all broken. After the changes in Patch 2.5 the assassin was hardly an S tier build, and I'm glad it's getting buffed to make some less frequented builds more common. In a duelling context, it would certainly be powerful (for it's relatively cheap cost), but it would not come without counters.
I started trapsin last ladder and didn't like it. It wasn't bad but the 3-4 seconds it took to throw traps at each pack was prohibitive. Many times in group play the mobster pack was dead before I could get the traps down.
4:45 that's my point when i say the creators should not nerf bone necromancer, the bonespear it's so nerf but hammerdin is stupid OP even with basic budget gear equipment you can crush the entire game ubers too and both are magic dmg, besides paladin is one of the most versatil characters of the game along with the sorc.

Trapsin for sure, especially after the buff. Then I'll probably shift into martial arts once I find the gear to try that out. Definitely shouldn't START ladder as a martial arts sin you need that new runeword for it to be viable imo.
You can farm it at hell countess. 4x ist = 2x gul. larz any Runic, Greater or Blade talon and you have a endgame weapon set. Definitely go traps during the couple hours to to hell countess though.

@@bobnewkirk7003 thanks for the well worded comment. That actually makes a lot of sense. I started D2R with a trapsin and ended up going riftsin after I got some gear it was fun for sure.
@@your_eulogy2688 I did some builds with the Mosaic runeword and it looks like I was overvaluing the interaction with Dragon Talon. Your skills only use charges on the initial hit not on every kick like I initially assumed. Its probably better to run either a charge-focused build (TS, COT, FOF, PS) with minimal finisher investment and Mosiac to lean into the elemental damage, or just go back to the traditional Dragon Tail, or Rift sin.
Mosaic will likely be a good "transition" weapon to take you from clearing the game on traps, to being able to farm up the runes you need to make a Spider, Tail or Rift sin. It can be farmed quickly solo especially since Hell Countess isn't immune to lightning damage.

Actually i don't think that any class/build can still compete in terms of effecienty against blizzard sorc as a starter class even after huge nerfs. But we'll see.

i agree, the rare time i ever tried another character i regretted it deeply, the sorc is way faster with high fcr and teleport and that alone is just so op early on. tele staffs cant compete.
Trapsin with crescent moon, like it's so easy this patch to be OP with traps
Last season I played Javazon. I find becuz you kill so many monsters off screen you miss a lot of High runes. They really need to improve the hud/mini map to allow you to see rune drops off screen.
For this reason I modify the sound settings to make the relative loudness of item drops higher. Once you learn to identify the sounds, you will know what's dropping off-screen.

@@Jean69100 In the volume settings I left the volume for item sounds at max, and reduced the rest to 20% or so. This way the item sounds are 5 times more loud than the other sounds. Finally you can just increase the general volume for the speaker to compensate for the relatively lower volume levels.
@@Veldrynvs after your original comment I played around with the settings. I set item sounds on max. All other sounds on 0 expect monster volume on 20% and it was much better.
I kind of think its bullshit that they havent added loot filters or gem/rune stacking, stash tabs or character slots, cause it might "change the game" from the original version, but at the same time we get sunder charms... instead of intelligently tweaking the game in more interesting ways and giving us basic quality of life. I'm actually playing modded torchlight 2 and im having way more fun than any other arpg ive played, and the game isnt even perfect, but its fun, and doesn't exist for greed.
Hmm not sure if that's the reason. Doesn't look to me like they've spend much time on making the upcoming patch, some runewords and a few changes, no major feature like we had with terrorized zones and sunder charms or like PoE has each season. Blizzard most likely has a hard focus on developing WoW Dragonflight and D4 currently.

Fire Druid is great for ladder start. Great AOE and damage scales rapidly.
Benefits from leaf runeword but will take a dive in efficacy in late NM

The only way to play the game "PVM" imo is to play Hardcore. But due to the squishyness I am hesitant on choosing a Necro even tho I want to and may go with my runner up choice of Amazon, Sorc is always a tier one mfer with early teleport but 20+yrs playing I just don't play sorc & hammerdin is a build if you lack taste/skill.

Trap sin and foh are my favorite. Going foh and my friend will go traps 2 man team will wreck. Any pally is great to start with cause u can smite down dclone and ubers with them
