I think people didn't like this movie because it broke the usual Disney mold a lot...which is good. Notice how when Milo and Kida meets, they don't flirt at all. They actually have a conversation on something more important. Romance only comes at the very end of the film. Also, the movie could very well pass as an adventure for older adults, minus the jokes here and there. I remember always re watching this movie on DVR. I understood at a young age and that part where she goes into the water walking like Jesus made me feel enthralled with the visuals and the sound track. Even now I'm 23 and I rewatch from time to time because it was amazing
I remember seeing this in the theaters with my brother and dad we were so excited to get the crystal necklaces that would glow omfg I wish I still had it
This music is so amazing honestly, the movie is my favorite out of all Disney movies and the action. Plus the music makes me emotional for some reason and sad when like at 2:06 is when it’s like a dream
This would be such a perfect live action movie. It didn't do well because it came out the same time as Shrek. Which is unfortunate because it's so good.
This is one of my favorite Disney movies from when I was a kid. This actually deserves the live action treatment because the visuals would rival modern sci fi and fantasy and the soundtrack was amazing
Its so strange and beautiful, the emotion of the music keeps changing. From soft to strong, from mysterious to some somehow familiar. It feels like its the song of the whole world; Egyptian, greek, african, american. Its everything, and its different at the same time.
Seriously guys, this was my favorite movie in the whole world. I still remember when I got a Kida doll for christmas; it had a crystal included and Kida's crystal (doll) could shine and it was totally mind blowing for a 4-5 year old girl like me. I also enjoyed recreating this scene with the house illumination, lifting the crystal with my hands lol
1:10 is just Magical. I get chills every time. This movie is really wacky. It doesn't completely add up, escpecialy this scene. No matter how many times I see it, I still don't quite understand, but this movie never fails to amaze and leave me breathless.
I had a dream where Disney made a live action version with the most of the ost still intact and used and the characters looked mostly similar to their cartoon counter parts
Same here. I want it to happen so badly. I mean I even have an idea on how to incorporate it. Basically it’ll turn out the Master of Masters is an Atlantean and that the war between light and darkness in part caused the sinking of Atlantis which the Master of Masters blames darkness for even though darkness is necessary for the existence of the universe.
Everyone thinks Tiana was the first black Disney Princess. Everyone thinks Elsa was the first white haired Disney Princess. Everyone thinks Rapunzel was the first Disney Princess with healing powers. Everyone thinks Ariel was the only one based on Greek Mythology. Everyone thinks Snow White and Aurora were the only two trapped in a strange sleep and had to be rescued. Everyone thinks Mulan and Merida were the only two to use actual weapons. Merida is a PIXAR Princess, and Mulan isn't even a real princess. Meanwhile, Kida be like: "Am I a joke to you?"
I'm gonna say it - The Crystal was a god - a formless being of energy that transcended dimensional limits. That's why when Kida, when possessed, reassured Milo that everything will be okay - because she had already seen the future and knew the outcome.
How this movie's soundtrack isn't more popular is beyond me. It's spine-chilling and feels like you've seen something so breathtaking you just can't describe it. It's just beautiful!
“This encounter, fleeting, impermanent, just like our time upon the earth. We will all end someday. Stellaxo134, we will become one in death. I cannot wait for you to join me.” *Some guy who likes eating gravel*
I never got why this movie was so hated. I mean yeah it wasn't the greatest but I thought it was pretty good. It made me laugh and the visuals were awesome and lets not forget the music!
No matter how bad the movie may or may not be, this scene alone is one of the most memorable pieces of cinema (animated or otherwise) in the past few decades. I still remember what how the trailers made me feel the first time I saw them back in 2000. That is how powerful this scene is.
This must be on of my favourite Disney movie I have ever seen! I remember when I was like 5, when Kida steps on water, when the crystal glows and interweaves with her, when the faces of the kings fall, I always kept that and this beautiful music in mind! and couldn't forget them ever since... Christ...I still remember as a kid, getting Kidas crystal in a Happy Meal and reenacting this damn floating scene in the deep end of our pool x,,,,D
"In a Single day and night of misfortune, the island of Atlantis disappeared into the depths of the sea..."
-Plato
How the hell could this movie be so underrated ?!
James Newton Howard is a god in music
He did some of the soundtrack in Hunger Games
@@___nelson4071 Great :)
movies like these were my childhood...
The beauty, its killing me
Once again, James Newton Howard has been a huge part of my childhood without me even knowing it. I love this so much!
This music is so amazing honestly, the movie is my favorite out of all Disney movies and the action. Plus the music makes me emotional for some reason and sad when like at 2:06 is when it’s like a dream
This sounds like something straight out of Le Cirque Du Soleil.
1:10 that part should have lasted longer
I know! I wish it was extended or there was more music like that part on CZcams :/
1:11 This is why I'm here
This would be such a perfect live action movie.
+Mariana Garcia Was? What's your favorite movie now?
I wish this movie had the recognition it deserved....
1:10 is just Magical. I get chills every time. This movie is really wacky. It doesn't completely add up, escpecialy this scene. No matter how many times I see it, I still don't quite understand, but this movie never fails to amaze and leave me breathless.
my all time favorite movie ever, nothing else comes close imo, a very distant second would be pokemon 2000 for me
Best scene of the movie, or at least the best-looking scene anyway.
James Newton Howard. Still waiting for that effin Oscar. :(
I had a dream where Disney made a live action version with the most of the ost still intact and used and the characters looked mostly similar to their cartoon counter parts
Woah.
“All will be well, Milo Thatch. Be not afraid.” - Princess Kida
I watched this movie when I was really little, and I've loved it ever since. How on Earth is this movie so underrated???
1:10 is still the most haunting and mesmerizing music I’ve ever heard in my entire life!
1:10 to 1:18 just beautiful and tranquil
1:17 Epic chill moment begins here!
+Tyranno Spino I agree. That part always gives me goosebumps.
that part is my favorite
To this day, I'm hoping that Atlantis lost Empire will one day, be in a future kingdom hearts game.
1:10 magical :')
I liked it for Leonard Nimoy's voice acting as the King of Atlantis.
Morgan Freeman would be the King of Atlantis in the live-action remake.
@@benrobson3442or Danny Glover.
How this movie's soundtrack isn't more popular is beyond me. It's spine-chilling and feels like you've seen something so breathtaking you just can't describe it. It's just beautiful!
Do any of you girls want to pretend like you're Kida and you're inside the crystal chamber?
***** Sweet!
+Alex Aceves Well DUH.
imbara33 As you wish.
all the time
society lies about alot of things there is truth to the myths of the world in this movie thats why I love it.
It's hated? Every1 I know including me love this movie. WHY ISN'T KIDA A DISNEY PRINCESS
***** BUT WHYYYYY DISNEY WHY!
Lets petition to make her an official princess
Remember that it underperformed at the box office, grossing 186 million $ against a 100 million$ budget.
I don't hate it, it's one of my favorite Disney movies of all time, I consider it to be a renaissance film
Critics hated it. General audience loved it.
Kida is the Disney princess who showed me the wonders of a fantastically written female protagonist. Honestly, I had a huge crush on her as a kid.
No matter how bad the movie may or may not be, this scene alone is one of the most memorable pieces of cinema (animated or otherwise) in the past few decades. I still remember what how the trailers made me feel the first time I saw them back in 2000. That is how powerful this scene is.
my favorite part is at 1:10
same. ever make me feel so... *sigh* i dont have... a word to describe this... feeling in my soul
Exactly! Like a sort of longing. like you know what it is. Like you've heard it before in a dream... or a dream of a dream.
disney is a dream... a dream make true...a dream for not wake up...
«Tolerance - Chamber Of Secrets» Sounds pretty similar :D
What?
This must be on of my favourite Disney movie I have ever seen! I remember when I was like 5, when Kida steps on water, when the crystal glows and interweaves with her, when the faces of the kings fall, I always kept that and this beautiful music in mind! and couldn't forget them ever since...
Hail for Atlantis, the Lost Empire!!!
one of disneys Lost treasures , loved it as a kid (23 now ) and still love it , one my favorite ones
1:10 OMG OMG OMG
