My father took me to see this the first day it came out in theaters when I was like 6 years old. He passed away last January due to Covid at the age of 67. I loved this music then and it saddens me deeply to hear it now without him. He was my Mufasa, taken from me surprisingly. Hopefully I will see him again, sometime.

One of the most epic and emotionally compelling pieces of music in film history or history history for that matter - especially the way it transitions into the African style singing then back into the western style choir singing and finishing with “the circle of life”. Every part of it is as close to perfect as I’ve ever heard and I’ve been making music for close to two decades.

in the lion king 1 1/2 simba hugs timon & pumbaa & says he couldnt have done it without them. it was soooooo sweet & shouldve been in this too b4 that. it made me smile really big but i didnt tear up. if it werent 4 them poor simba wouldve felt sorry 4 himself & been miserable 4 the rest of his life, died from heatstroke & gotten eaten by vultures. they saved his life, took care of him since he was a cub, helped him get thru the worst thing that ever happened 2 him & put it behind him, made him happy again & even helped him fight with the hyenas. they really deserve a shit ton of more credit 4 it in this. when he finds nala he kinda just ignores them. they didnt get the props they deserved in the first movie 4 being his adoptive dads. if mufasa survived & was there he definitely wouldve hugged them too, said thanks a million 4 taking care of his son & cried like timon did. he definitely did from heaven

4:23 onwards has been stuck in my head for days now, could not for the life of me remember which movie it was. For a minute I thought maybe Prince of Egypt, but the chords didn't make sense. Then it hit me, freaking LION KING! The only cartoon that has ever made me cry, the story line and soundtrack alone make it the best Disney movie of all time. Glad I figured it out LOL

Composer Hans Zimmer wrote the score for Lion King as a requiem for his father. I think that is why the score is so emotional and personal to him. I think the father-son relationship in the film also adds up to it as well.

I'm glad that Hans Zimmer returned to do the music for the live action, but listening to the two versions of this... I actually prefer the original. And that's not to say the reorchestration is bad -- far from it. But, having been recorded in 1994, there's still this warmth to it that's very hard to recreate with modern recording and mixing technology. It sounds fuller; there's a richness that I just can't seem to find in the 2019 version.

It's all in the past!" Now, I see that the more I can "learn from it" rather than "run away from it", the more I can learn from all the thoughts, actions, and words that come to me, despite being an autistic man living under anxiety. Then when he gets to the end he looks up at the sky for help and his father simply says "remember..." And after that you see a little smile...which to me feels like a throwback to young Simba who was carefree and who couldn't wait to become king. And then he roars.
