I break down how a conflict de-escalation training scenario was executed, commenting on the basics and point out some personal safety considerations. This is a common scenario that my team and I use, and in this case the scenario took place in a small office.
    Remember to:
Play your ACE ( Your Appearance, Communication and Engagement)
    Slow down
    Take a breath
    Assess the situation

GENTLE RESPONSE is not just another lecture presentation. The De-escalation training program is specifically designed to assist a person develop stress inoculation, muscle memory, self confidence and confidence in other colleagues. None of which anyone can get from just sitting through a lecture or watching a how-to video.
Students also receive real time feedback from instructor/role players to validate and affirm what was done correctly during a scenario, and feedback as to what can be tweaked and done differently.

Yup, just little things that can become a big thing if a person isn't careful! Every situation will be different but the basics are always the same. Thank you for taking a moment to comment!

4:55 It's great advice- assess the situation. Observe what's going on before you take action . You can use this teachable moment to tweak your video of the Martinez/Brennan parking garage situation of a year ago . You got feedback from the community about that video being incomplete analysis, not based in full context. Looking up all the information available, you could now edit or create a new video. Based on the Martinez /Brennan interaction you could point out how both parties could have deescalated. I hope you find this useful and I am available for consultations.

Thank you for sharing your opinion! No 2 situations are ever alike, and it is critical to stay flexible and adapt to the actual situation developing before you! I have seen too many situations, in real life and in my training seminars, that were mishandled by people who just figured that since something they said or did in one scenario worked that it must also automatically apply to another scenario, and that is not true.
