- Today we will learn how to make byrek from an expert: an Albanian Grandma. We are going back to Gjirokastër from Korçë, to stay with Marko's family for a few days, before leaving Albania and heading north.

We are Heather & Ryan, we sold everything to travel full-time! We left San Diego and drove cross country to visit friends and family before leaving the country in September 2021! Our overseas adventure has begun, here in Albania!

This is one of my favorite videos. Love that you experienced the culture and the family, awesome. Grandma would have had to make a few more Byrek if I was there, looked delicious.

Whhaaattt! That byrek is the best in the world. It's one of the two of my favorite byreks. When my wife makes it I can't stop eating. I call it Albanian style pizza haha! Glad you guys enjoyed it. Nothing beats handmade phyllos. And that "oil" is not just oil but it is raw olive oil that gives an incredible taste to byrek.

The bus ride must of been torture ! - Warm people but cold weather ? The people are worth the visit it looks like IF you can meet the right ones.

Hand knitted hats made of good quality wool, super nice. My grandma used do that too, isn't that cute?
The wool socks are called papuce.
The hats are soooo warm and in perfect time for winter (video was filmed in late November).
