- Member of the Hanseatic League. A medieval trading agreement across the Northern part of Europe. The league started with Germany: mostly German cities around the Baltic Sea. Later cities in The Netherlands joined. At its height, the Hanseatic League had over 200 cities. From London and Bruges, to Zwolle, Deventer and Doesburg in the Netherlands, to German towns like Bremen, Quedlinburg, Münster, Hamburg, Lübeck, to Danzig, Visby, Talinn and Bergen.
