    This is probably the most wacky YanSculpts video since (maybe) earthworm jim. Everything from the sculpture to the random zoom-ins and other things combine for a truly fun video. Whilst I don't want this format to dominate the channel, it was quite fun to see.
    Also another request. Could you do more types of videos outside of the "How I sculpt a character in 5 minutes" series. Whilst they are very fun to watch, It does get very stale. The last video that wasn't part of that series was from 9 months ago. I get that they take more time and effort to make, but I would still like more variety in your content.

    Hi Yan, i wish you can post those recordings with real time commentary. I bought your beginner lesson packages but they’re all sped up videos and not actually really beginner friendly. I don’t really know all the details about the tools and the settings or what exactly it is you’re doing to make things work. Sorry for the long rant I just really hope to learn sculpting in Blender and your style is literally my all time favourite.

    • @fadethecreator
      @fadethecreator Před 2 lety +7

      Hi, Salty ghost. I see you're on track to do character sculpting rn. It depends on where your level is at in terms of form understandings and as well as blender know-how. From the looks of it, you are a beginner rn. How I started my blender journey is through the donut tutorial 1 month ago. I know you want to dive right into sculpting, though most tutorials assume your level of blender comfort is at the least intermediate to beginner, and not total beginner. It's been a month of me using blender, I started with the donut tutorial by blender guru, then I did his bear tutorial. I went to grant abbit's tutorial next on how to create fast base meshes to sculpt finer details on after that. And just today, I sculpted my first ever character. Her face turned out looking perfectly human as well as her body and form, though I had no references, I have that knowledge of how human anatomy works, and with reference I think my second sculpt will be something fierce. I will be even more happy because I have reference next time. It took me a month to build these skills practicing every night a bit late staying awake. For you, it can be faster or slower, I didn't have a comment like mine guide me along a path, though I think since you do as I've been through it, depending on your world and art knowledge, if it is like mine, you may get through faster. My advice is don't rush. I can get from this video exactly everything he's done and how to replicate it, leaving texturing as I haven't studied that yet. If you don't know common hotkeys, and haven't many clues as to what he's doing or how, then here is my advice. Donut tutorial. > Bear tutorial. > Grant abbit tutorial on sculpting fast base meshes. > Work on your base mesh to a finer extent, don't be impatient. > Yan's hair tutorial(free on his channel and super easy). > Then watch this again, you'll have an almost step by step understanding on how to do what and where to go to do it. If your art knowledge isn't great rn, I suggest watching art youtuber like marc brunet, called bluefley as well, has great anatomy tips and helped me take my knowledge and skills to the next level. And if you do got art knowledge, and not blender knowledge, my advice is to follow the tutorial series I layed out for you, and I think you'll be something fierce yourself pretty soon fam. I bid you good luck and happy blending! :D

    Hey Yan, did you use the boolean modifiers to connect the eyelids onto the face? only part I can't wrap my head around is how you first sculpted the base face and skull, then connected the eyelids and certain other parts seemlessly. I'd like help at understanding that part of your sculpt. Thank you for sharing these btw, it gives me a lot of insight as to how to smartly set my sculpt up for later ease.

Or are you fully moving your arm all the time? It's not possible to judge from the video, because only your lower arm appears. What about in some future video you position the camera a bit further, so we can see how is your egonomics when you work ? :)
