Valerian become my second favorite character because of this. He is like Anduin except he actually do shit instead of diplomat talk. Not quite-- in a between-missions cutscene prior to this, Valerian openly states that he wants to be a *better* Emperor than his father, and just flat-out a *better MAN* (to which Raynor snarks, 'Well, *that* ain't gonna be too hard.'). And to his credit, once he assumes the throne?
Valerian proves that he IS a better man, and a better Emperor; a million times more than Daddy Mengsk EVER was. Rather than being primarily concerned with dominon and personal power like Arcturus ('I will *rule* this Sector, or see it *burn to ashes around me!*', anyone?), Valerian actually gives a damn about the people he reigns over, considers *their* well-being over all else, and tries to govern the peoples of the Terran Dominion fairly, justly, and responsibly.
(That, and he's not at all vindictive-- he allows Raynor and Matt Horner, his second, to rise to important positions within the Dominion; he also manages, post-game, to maintain peaceable relations with the Protoss, AND, if Starcraft: Evolution is to be taken as canon, even sends aid to Zagara and the remaining Zerg, on Char, when she send envoys begging for assistance, maintaining that the Zerg had abandoned their monstrous, destructive ways).
A good example of Valerian's vastly different approach to his role as Emperor of the Dominion is what he does when he ascends to the throne, and finds out about the scientists that Arcturus had shanghai'ed into working on Dominion black-ops weapons research; he calls them up, actually *starts paying them*, in addition to removing the corrupt psychopaths that his father liked to put in charge of things. And of course, if the scientists want to go home? Valerian has no objection to that, either.

MaxMikescrool1 Oh man, that comment was last year. I barely remember what I was thinking back then, mmm... if memory serves...
What bothers me is that not even Raynor himself acts like this wasn't his first rodeo, not even once he mentions something that he may have learned or even having been there before, (sure the whole story with the general is that he didnt think much of Raynor at first but comes to respect him later). But when general mentions his experience, its like a huge missed opportunity that neither Raynor or Valerian (who might be aware) mentions that he is the only one with actual experience fighting the Zerg on that very same planet.

I feel like in this scene, Mengsk really feels that Kerrigan cannot be saved.
Mengsk is probably my favorite villain in sci-fi, because he can be, and usually is an absolute snake that will deceive and backstab you the first chance he gets. . . but is also capable of being honest and leveling even with his sworn enemies. He is one of very VERY few villains in sci-fi that aren't their own worst enemy, because he is willing to set aside rivalries for his own survival, like when he worked with Raynor against the UED.
In short, Mengsk was like "bro she ain't good for you."

Purely from a flavor standpoint, a ship like that would simply not fit a typical Terran arsenal. Remember, the Terrans are all about doing more with less, which means a lot of their designs would also have a secondary function (see: Siege tanks as the main battle tank but also as self propelled artillery or Medivacs as dropships and medical aid). But if you go back 4 in-universe years, the UED had Valkyries which perfectly fits this role. Liberators would be the evolution of Valkyries
For designs that have very specific and specialized roles, you have to look at the Protoss, not Terrans

Did you realize that there are no Asians (to be specific, Koreans) in SC/SC2? It's because they're actually the ones controlling Protoss & Zerg. That's why in all of SC cutscenes White Terrans are getting micropwned by Korean Protoss and Zerg units.

@hurisija I think he's probably referring to when she backstabbed the Dominion and Protoss after they'd teamed up to fight the UED.
Well... either that, or he just suffers from a really severe case of protagonist-centred morality.

not really, i don't remember collisions occuring frequently in WW2, their formations were made so collisions wouldn't happen. Blizzard just didn't give a sit about coherence in SC2, you can see that in all the cutscenes

well it's not explained in the game, but, apparently, the Zerg can fly in space because they recieved some of the psionic energy from the Xel'Naga when they made them evolve faster.

@nythreefer Ah, but that's the glory of chemical propellants: we *are* developing new ones all the time. And the main reason why we don't use caseless munition (even though it takes up dramatically less space in magazines) is because of 1) how jam-prone it is and 2) how difficult it makes reloading individual magazines.
As such...casings aren't just for propellant, oddly enough. They safeguard against jamming, let us use reuse magazines, etc. It's not quite so unbelievable.

You know the thing that kinda dawned on me about this. Arcturus couldve recalled the fleet but allowed his son to take this gamble anyway. Why? Because from his POV, ethier he actually pulls it off and Kerrigan is no longer a threat or the plan fails spectacularly and Raynor dies on Char, removing a massive pain in his ass. Maybe even both! We all know Mengsk has no issue sacrificing his son to achieve his goal.

He also didn't sacrifice young women to his ennemy

@tzepesh20 yes i know but the atmosphere that high up in a low orbit is too thin to support winged flight. otherwise a ship like the space shuttle would have flapping wings instead of thrusters to maneuver.

@LtSurge659 I have a feeling the zerg would've found out the false zerg, even if they didn't the swarm air uints quickly found the fleet, so the landing parties on both the dark and light would've been attacked and once they hit ground they were already under a bunch of shit. The only reason they survived was by taking out that air base or the underground base

@Kamfrenchie mmm maybe you r right about blizzard, but collisions did occur in ww2. specially when doing maneuvers to avoid fighters and flak screens, there are a lot of pictures of bombers with their wings riped of by other bombers, or by bombs from a bomber above him droped them without care.
