  • As we prepare for our broadcast at the Vice Presidential debate in St. Louis, here's a flashback to last Friday in Mississippi. I heard that the Tri Delt sisters had a sign outside their sorority house welcoming me to the Ole Miss campus, and we decided to take a drive over...and bring you along.

When Katie is with the public just being herself, she is bright, cheerfull and a pleasure to watch. This is what was endearing to viewers of the today show back in the day,
She is a bright light. Doing the evening news is what path she took in her career. Her fan base has taken a hit because the format is not really the same venue. People like to whatch her because she is bright, smart and very funny with a sense of humor. While reading the evening news, this doesnt always show.

I did some construction work in the Tri-Delta house a couple of years ago. It was extremely nasty and the girls are probably the least hot out of all the sororities.

@pepjrp She didn't say she was voting for someone to make history, she was just pointing out that either way the votes went, history would be made....

The one girls comment was ridiculous when she mentioned like it was important to elect the first woman or first part black president just to make history. We don't elect someone to make history or we would elect a leprechaun from Ireland. We elect someone because they are the best for America. I hope that young lady knows more now than she did.

@gmenfan48 THANK YOU!!!!!! I get so tired of Northerners who have never even been to the South bashing us nonstop. They just fall for stereotypes about a place they know nothing about. It is really incredibly refreshing to hear from a Northerner who has the same views as me. Good for you!!!

William Faulkner - I see. Well, I read some of his books at University - The Sound and the Fury, Go down Moses, and (my favourite) Light in August.
I wonder what HE would have said to Obama being the next US President. I don´t think he was a racist but I could imagine him not liking Obama anyway since he comes from Chicago. In other words: He is a "Yankee". And Faulkner clearly didn´t like Yankees, did he?

  • @thincrustpizzanothankyou

He also literally is a black man. In Mississippi, we don't cover history with a facade of political correctness. Yes, Mississippi has a horrid past when it comes to racial relations, but at least we are dealing with it head on. At least the progress is palpable. Ex. Mississippi has more black political representatives than ANY other state per capita. The only close-minded judgment I see being passed is from you. Both Oxford and Ole Miss will vote largely in favor of Obama. Grow up.

@backendofforever2113 Well, that's not exactly true as she said, "either way, it's really neat", that makes her sound like so many of the other immature or selfish thousands of voters who got caught up more in the demographics than issues. And even little disrespectful to Hillary Clinton as she would be technically the first woman of European heritage to be elected President. She has an ethnicity too. But that can all be talked about again, most likely next year during the 2012 election.

No, the state of Mississippi has nothing to do with elected officials for the State of Mississippi. You don't make sense. Not in any facet of my argument did I discount Afr. Americans progress in MS; I was simply pointing out the progress of a STATE, which includes whites, blacks, hispanics, etc, that you judge as lacking. Continue to read into things with the mentality of your own outlook or desired outcome and you will continue to be misunderstood.

Yes I know a few people who never shut up about one of our Northern friends being from the North, honestly it annoys the heck out of me, I don't know why he deals with it. Basically there are idiots everywhere you go, so you just have to get used to it and find the smart people hahaha.

Grow up? Political correctedness isn´t the only thing lacking in Miss. So, Obama should be referred to as "Black" because he LITERALLY is according to you? GTFOOH! Your ex. of Miss. having more "black" political reps per capita than any other state is weak- that is not a palapable response to a horrid past it´s the result of Afr. Americans own progress- The state of Miss. has nothing to do with it- it´s just the locale. Afr.American progress is not a panacea to Miss.´s evil past- understand?
