      Enjoyed the project, got me thinking of how to incorporate that cork back splash. I really like it when the wives get involved with projects they'll use, makes for good memories. I would have liked a still shot of entire final project instead of the panning shot, just to get some sense of scale. Is it attached to the walls or free standing? Thanks again, looks great!

      Jody, I thoroughly enjoyed all your videos ! The jigs and templates that you create and make are nothing less than incredible. Your circle jig is one that will probably make in the future. But, that little cork sled is genius! Keep up the great work and content!

      YES! I was really happy that Caitlin could help on this one especially. We haven't been able to get her out in the shop but at least this she could do inside! Corner units are really boing from a filming and photo standpoint because there is only really one way to see them. So I didn't get much other footage of it in it's entirety. Plus there is a sliding glass door just to the left of it witch makes it tough lighting-wise. When we do the backsplash and signage we will try to get more full shots of this unit as well. Thanks!

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety

      MUCH appreciated, Dan! The cork jig is definitely going to be coming out soon. I think even if people have no desire to split corks in half, it might just be useful for other projects.

    I am just starting out in woodworking and would like to say thanks for taking the time to show your projects. The one thing that i would like to see more of is "Time"... in how much time it takes to build, design, and complete a project from start to finish.
    once again thanks for the video.

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for watching and the feedback. That's something I've really struggled with since I started making video content. When videos are as long as the project actually takes, people don't watch. I wonder if maybe I could try to keep track of my time on builds and at least just add that to the videos to help give a better representation of how long it took.

    My personal preference would be to slow the Build down a bit. Also don’t recall too many shots of the full finished product. Just a lot of close ups.

      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks for the feedback! It's really difficult for me to find a good balance between video length and the detail that goes into the build. With this being a corner unit, there's really only one angle to see it from so that's why I only showed the one beauty shot at the end. Plus it sits right next to a sliding glass door which is really difficult to film and photo because of glare.

    Excellent cabinet and the use of corks. I cut my corks in half via a 3/4" PVC pipe and run them through the pipe on the band saw. Like a machine gun feed. Excited to see your build of the tapering jig when you post it.

      Intersting! I would be really interested in seeing that setup. The tapering jig will be out soon, as soon as I catch up with a few other things. I'm really excited to release it though. For me I'm rating it right up there with the circle-cutting jig.

    Interesting enough that I have subscribed. I always wonder why presenters rarely present the finished article fully before diving into the build. I am still not totally clear on the result.

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety +1

      I really appreciate the subscribe. The issue with corner units is that no matter how awesome they look, they’re incredibly boring to shoot because there is only one viewing angle: the front. So the idea behind this video was sort of twofold. I didn’t show the finished product in the beginning because then if you start to watch the video and then decide that it’s ugly, you will leave. If enough people do that, my video will sort of just die off and never get seen. Also it leaves a bit of mystery as the build goes on to see it all come together. The one slow planning shot at the end is really the only way to view this thing. And because it’s taller than wide, it’s very difficult to get a landscape picture, which is why I have t changed the thumbnail picture to the finished product yet. A long winded response but there really was a lot of though into it. This was a tough one to present!

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety +1

      Great question! I really think some of it was luck, but my thought process going into it was to cut them all the overall length that I wanted the top to be, and then cut them all starting at the full width down to the center of that width at the small end. That's really difficult to explain in writing, but I guess just think of it like a piece of pie, like a wedge shape. I kept this theory even on the narrower pieces and luckily it all worked out!

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks Austin, really appreciate the kind words! I actually forgot to show the assembly of the shelves to the uprights. I mean, I just put some glue in the dados and used staples to hold them while glue dried, but somehow I completely missed the footage. I know I recorded it but apparently I overlooked it somehow. As for the side cleat, I didn't really think it was necessary because the overall height of the opening was only 3-3/8" tall so there wasn't any flex.

      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety

      Funny you mention that because I did and I forgot all about it. Not too long after cutting them I broke that blade and I just never thought about it again. Any idea what that’s from?

    • @redstick3900
      @redstick3900 Před 5 lety

      Cork has a "waxy" natural substance that gives it the ability to seal bottles, etc. I had a problem with my blade after splitting a bunch of corks. Put it in some cleaner and it seemed like it was completely coated with a film that came off pretty much in one piece. Looked into where cork comes from and assume it's that waxy stuff.

    Whatever works. It's obviously made fast, but you can't always take time. Now, in order to make the video more interesting, it would have been nice to explain what the project was before building it. Something like "I want to build a shelf for this corner of the house, in which I will place the wine cooler, plus this and this. My idea is to make it curved for this reason..." - So that we get an overview, and the build makes sense as it goes. Just my idea... :)

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety +1

      That's some great feedback. Thanks! This video was harder to put together than the build itself for some reason. I liked the idea of leaving a little suspense from beginning to end, sort of like unwrapping a present, where you see all these little things come together to make a final reveal. But a little more clarity as to what it is that I was even doing to begin with definitely makes sense too. Mental note...

      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety

      Just towards the end. It's a really great project but kind of boring for video or pictures sake as there's not much to show. Especially being a corner unit because there's only one angle to see it from as well. This lives right next to a sliding glass door which because go glaring light makes it really hard to film. Sorry about that.
