In the second half of the 20th century, the USSR's victory over Nazi Germany began to be used as a propagandist tool. It was used to justify the Cold War and all the sacrifices that Soviet people had to make for its sake. After the USSR collapsed, for a number of years, the date of May 9th, which is Victory Day, became rather insignificant. However, during Putin's rule, it regained its former glory and now began being used to convince the Russian people that they are surrounded by enemy states but they will prevail over them all like they prevailed over Hitler in 1945.

Thank you for an excellent analysis of Putin's WWII propaganda. One of the unfortunate ways this plays to a Western audience, is that it allows the people who buy into Putin's nonsense to justifying it as, "he is just a Russian patriot".

And i was one of the Westerners(American, living in France,) who believed Putin was good for Russia, as terrhand said, "a Russian Patriot." A Russian friend of ours would just shake her head and said, "you'll see, you'll see..." She was so right. Thank you for your time. Always look forward to TV Rain Videos....rr Normandy, France

What an incredible historical assessment, 20/20 hindsight shows the old road is still a much used thoroughfare... how disgusting. Absolute power corrupts absolutely no matter what century or decade or country for that matter. Thank you for the enlightenment on totalitarianism and authoritarianism 🙏

The military losses of the USSR in World War II were 8.5 million soldiers, of which 2 million died in captivity.
The military losses of Germany and its allies on the eastern front were 5.1 million soldiers, of whom 600 thousand died in captivity.
Thus, the combat, irretrievable losses of the USSR are 6.5 million soldiers.
Combat, irretrievable losses of Germany and its allies - 4.5 million soldiers.
Loss ratio: 1.4 to 1 in favor of Germany and the Allies.
This is convincing proof of the mediocrity of the Soviet leadership and the fact that Stalin destroyed the best generals.
You can even confirm this with even more convincing facts:
    Hitler's invasion of France:
    Result:
Combat, irretrievable losses of France, Belgium, England, Canada, Poland and others - 73 thousand killed soldiers.
Combat, irrevocable Germany and Italy - 30 thousand soldiers.
Thus, the loss ratio is 2.4 to 1 in favor of Germany and Italy.
Or, for example, Hitler's invasion of Poland:
    Result:
Combat, irretrievable losses of Poland - 66 thousand soldiers.
Combat, irretrievable losses of Germany - 17 thousand soldiers.
Thus, the loss ratio is 3.8 to 1 in favor of Germany.
Or, for example, we can recall Hitler’s invasion of Denmark:
    Result:
Combat, irretrievable losses of Denmark - 16 soldiers.
Combat, irretrievable losses of Germany - 2 soldiers.
Thus, the loss ratio is 8 to 1 in favor of Germany.
Use these facts to your advantage and smash Russian propaganda with them!

I do not quite see the point in this video as it does not convey new insights. I must assume that the canonized memory of WWII is one of the few common denominators of the peoples of the Russian Federation or at least large portions of them. No wonder the regime make use of this memory. It includes both pride and fear which are the essential reasons for rallying around the flag - as long as the heating works and Rubles are rolling in. Why people are not willing to admit they see the hypocrisy behind it all and decide to get along with, that is the question that must be answered. It sheds an extremely bad light on the Russian elites.

The events in Ukraine invite us to think of Our Lady of Fatima. The sinless, Ever-Virgin Mother of God, in her July 13, 1917, apparition to Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta, taught the three shepherd children what we now know as the “Fatima Prayer,” to be recited after each decade of the rosary. “O my Jesus, forgive us, save us from the fire of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are most in need.” During the same appearance, Our Lady presented the way forward - the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and the practice of the faithful making the five First Saturdays.
Mary continued: “If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world. In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved.”
