Haha this was so good. Yes, meandering books are for a specific set of people. Have you read Karl Ove Knausgaard? I liked three of his books and am wondering how Fosse compares to him!
"A Passage North could never " lol! I'm oddly intrigued, never been interested in Fosse before.
I agree that all three books have to be read and not just the last. I loved the septology, but of course that doesnât in anyway matter to your own experience of the books. No book appeals to everyone. I donât think I would describe them as meandering though.đ€
I think they are extremely focused and layered. That said, I dont feel like I completely understood them either and Iâm not sure readers are supposed to.
I'm glad you loved it! And you're probably right, the point is probably not to understand but maybe the process of thinking about it in general? If someone could write down my stream of consciousness while reading this book, it probably would have read very much the same way, and that's just kind of fun to think about đ
i read a new name without reading the other two and put up my review yesterday!! đđ i loved it, i find it so gripping and engrossing it felt so close to the human experience. having the same thought over and over and over and over.... đđđđ
Haha that actually helps, because I do agree that it really mimics the human experience! Also this is a good reminder, I got my notification for your video on Fosse as I was editing mine last night đ

I'm a 100 pages into the first book and I just keep reading it and it strangely lingers with you, you think of the situations as if they happened to you, I 'think' it's the amount of repetition he uses.
So far I prefer KnausgÄrd style in My struggle series which I think is kind of similar. I will finish it as I find the effect on me rather intriguing, do I recommend Septology ???????????????????
Can one read the book as a standalone? I have âa new nameâ at home & canât wait to read it. But have not read the first two. Greetings đ
Nice explanation
I did find it rhythmic with its repetition, but I could not stay with it. Like you, I thought this would be up my alley, but it sure wasnât. Mind you, I only made it 136pgs into the first book of the septology.
If I hadn't been making these reviews, I probably would have DNF'd it, if I'm honest. Although I did find the other two easier to read, but oddly I think I liked the first one the best? I think just the newness of it was cool, and then I got over it really quickly haha
I am 754 pages into Septology, its going well, very well. But I wonder if his other books have so much "Catholic parts" in them. I am thoroughly enjoying the book but I find the religious/christian parts not only ridiculous and annoying but also very off putting. I hope the other books are not like this.
How funny it is if this book wins đ (and nice house tour
I could totally see it happen. But I feel like my reaction would be like, "yeah, okay" haha
Yeah, "this book is super hard to get through" is not a compiment, although we're so confused as fans of literature that now the "educated" think it is a compliment...
Jon Fosse is SUPER boring...
