Fosse’s prose is so powerful and mesmerizing, I love how some of the scenes in this one mirrors scenes in the first one (the playground scenes). Always circling back to itself, but also his other novels like Trilogy and Aliss at the fire. And the ending 😭 It’s awesome that Fitzcarraldo is releasing Septology in one book. Great review. I read volume 3 when it was short listed and said, Hm…. Then I got volumes 1 and 2, read them and volume 3 became clear, easy to understand, addictive [perhaps like alcohol and cigarettes] and I’m hooked. Yes, Fosse should get the Nobel, but even more important than that, he should get lots of English readers ~ this translation is magnificent! Thanks for the great review.
