Don't put down the screamers. They can't help it anymore than you can control your criticism. If you don't want kids to scream when you give them a pet, don't surprise them.
There are plenty of boys who cry freely these days. They are not as repressed as my generation, but there are still those ignorant parents who try to stifle it.

So you don't think society and culture have anything to do with how boys and girls are expected to behave differently no matter how they truly feel inside. You can't know why someone doesn't cry or does or what expectations were put on them based on their gender. I was raised in a time when I knew I had to keep it in around peers or pay a social consequence that girls didn't, at least directly. Girls were still judged as being weak because of their emotions, and fathers of the time didn't want the "shame" on them for raising a "sissy", or any boy who acts in any way like a girl. It has caused a lot of harm over an emotion that is completely natural. Religion plays a big role in this, trying to keep us all alike and one dimensional. Pretending you don't need to cry is like pretending you don't need to shit. It is healthier to let it out than hold it in.
