- The world has become a very dreadful place to live in. Print and electronic media are full of reports of terrorism, homicides, rapes, xenophobia, robberies, water, air and road accidents, etc. Many fear darkness and so have to sleep with lights on. Some people even fear doing good things like standing before a crowd to say something. Coupled with real fears about tomorrow, a coming exam or interview, what happens after losing a job or going through broken relationships, fear comes so easy.
Released at the height of the Corona virus epidemic around the world, a locust invasion inEast Africa and an economic melt-down for many African countries as well as a huge refugee crisis in Syria and Eastern Europe, this video is Reuben’s small contribution to anyone who would care to seek God’s opinion on what to do in times of crisis. According to Reuben, “God has never promised a problem-free life for anyone, but, again and again, He promises to be present with and help all those who go through tough times. … Jesus told His disciples in John 16:33 that in this world they would have troubles but that they should be of good cheer because He had overcome the world. … Again, the bible reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind.”
This song is written in three languages, i.e. Kalenjin (spoken in the rift Valley region of Kenya), Kiswahili and English. Mr. Kigame and his family live in Eldoret on Kenya’s Western Highlands. He says, “I had always wanted to write a Kalenjin song because I live among this great and blessed community. Not originally from the Rift Valley myself, everyone around me is so loving and supportive of me and my family and Uasin-Gishu County has made me feel more at home than Vihiga where I was born. May God bless all the people of the Rift Valley for accepting me and making me like one of your own. Kongoi missing! (thank you very much)”
